Hey Karl,

Absolutely stunning - I can't add anything else that hasn't already been said. The weathering really "ties" it to the base.

Simply awesome... Bow [bow]

Hey Vector,

Firstly, welcome to the forums.

I have noticed that you have asked some fairly general questions (in several threads) which are really not directly related to the subjects of threads at hand. Many of the questions you have raised have been discussed at length in the tools, techniques and painting forums

You may also find the answers you seek by using the "search" function, rather than asking peripherally related general questions, eg.  What exactly is putty??? on this thread.

If it relates to a technique used in a particular model, eg. "What did you use to create that rust effect?", or "what paint did you use?" would be fair questions, but a general question such as "What exactly is putty???" isn't considered good forum etiquette.

Karl,

I know the original smaller pipes had little inserts in them to keep grenades or other debris from getting into the pipes and causing problems but the flammvernicther hoods were designed to shield/hood the exhaust pipes so that flames wouldn't show at night. To my knowledge they were large open cowls like this depicted on a 1/6 build:

Ok.. Your build is as good as perfect then... with exeptions of what Bill wrote...  Congratulations on a job perfectly done!

Thanks so much, guys! I do appreciate your compliments and suggestions!

Huxy-- regarding the crosses--I have photos in the aforementioned 654 book that clearly show double-crosses on one late JP, as well as one visible as well on the side. And as I've stated, the cross on the front was emblematic of the 654 after it reorganized, so while unusual, the multiple crosses are actually accurate.

Thanks too, Aaron, Marc, and Bill!

Thanks also, Terry and Mike!

Vector--"Putty"?! Not sure what you mean?

wBill--you know, from an illustration in "Achtung Panzer", I swore that those pipes had an insert in them? It's weird, because the way the Revell part is constructed, it also has a "baffle" in that curved part? Somebody mentined that on Armorama as well. Very well; I shall bore it out! Good call on the jack lock too; I shoulda painted it "wood". Thanks for the comments and observations!!

And thanks too, Brian!! Big Smile [:D]

Karl, IMHO you have outdone yourself!  Your 1/35 work is amazing enough, but you did some MAGIC with the brail scale kit!  The rubble looks much better from the previous pics, and the tank itself looks simply stunning!

Nice work Karl, the inclusion of the figures is a nice touch. Thumbs Up [tup] There are only a couple of things that stand out to me that I would make suggestions on. The first is the jack block on the right hand side that you incorporated into the camo scheme...if you'd painted that as a natural wood color it would add some color variety to that side of the JP IMHO. The other is the Flammvernichter exhausts, they don't look very deep in the rear hull pic, maybe darken them up with a black wash to give them more depth and/or drill them out (carefully)? The fact that you've got so much detail already going on with this one in 1/72 is impressive!

Doog

Absolutely superb mate, love it!

The figures really convey the sense of motion in the scene. I can hear the crunch as the Jagdpather breaks through the wall and heads towards the TC's pointed direction.

Cheers

Mike

Karl, don't know what to say, that is just amazing work. It's well up there as one of the best braille scale jobs I've seen. You have easily matched the quality of the stuff I've seen done in the Osprey on the Tiger in 1/72nd scale.

Wait, WHAT!??!?!

1/72 FIGURES?  Not blobs roughly the color of German uniforms, but a GUY WITH AN IRON CROSS THAT I CAN SEE???

Man, that's amazing, Karl, I was all set to check in and congraatulate you on vehicle specifics, then you go and pull the micro card!

Very nice camo, weathering, Dio, oh, and yes, the figures are VERY nice, although your figure painting will cost me some sleep tonight.

OOOO figures!  Now your cooking with gas!  That looks incredible! Definately one of my favorites! Hard to choose which one of your stuff I like best but that is a good un! Bow [bow]

I think it is because of the sense of action it gives! Really cool!

Hi Guys! Thanks to Terry, Aaron, Marc, Hans, Wayne, and Lasse for your nice comments, gentlemen! I appreciate them all! Big Smile [:D]

Well, I weathered up the JP with some pin washes, small scratches in DY, and some judicious drybrushing, pigments, and two Preisser figures. (Hopefully, the weathering will pass "The Manny test"?) lol! Put the cables on from the "early" molded-zimm JP....'nuff talkin'--here's the pics! Big Smile [:D]

Well, that's another one on the shelf!

I"ll be starting the next project tonight as well, and I should have pics up soon..... Big Smile [:D]

Questions, comments, and critiques always warmly welcomed! Smile [:)]

All the best,

Terry.

Who hasn't built at least one of these kits?

That'd be me, lol... I just can't get into those small ones.. Guess it's more about the fidelity of scale, since my builds eventually get tore down and parts recycled and get a new life in another dio..

Add to it that I can't achieve the level of detail I want in such a small scale, since the ol' eyeballs don't allow it in the first place, and anyone who viewed my work in that scale wouldn't be able to see it were I able to achieve it...

That doesn't seem to be an issue with you, Doog.. Nice work, man...

I have been trying to pay attention to how you do your bases! They seem to add a lot to the model!  I mean the build is terrific  and the paint divine but the base really adds some life to it! Purdy dern impressive 1/72 beastie!

Up to your usual standards Karl and even more impressive that it's in 1/72. Nice to see the paint work and weathering is in-scale as well. Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks, Steve! Teah, I thought abotu trying to flex the tracks, but then remembered my snaity, which I need these days, lol! That woulda been a little too much, with trying to bend the tracks too. Woulda been cool, though? The Revell kit doesn't have separate suspension arms though. Cute lil' doog too!! Big Smile [:D]

Mark, that is GREAT news!!! I'll probably pick up another, and do a different tank crashing through the same wall, lol!

Thanks, too, Phil and  Rob! And ROb--don't kid yourself, man--you've got some mad skills as a modeler too! I've seen those rusted huks you've done--FABULOUS!!

Thanks, Manny! LOL! (Our resident modeling polygamist, LOL!) Thanks for the endorsement! Big Smile [:D] That book I cited earlier is a wealth of info on the 654th; I highly recommend it if you can find it. I'm not sure if it's in paperback yet, but it's worth the cost for the high quality photos in hardcover!
