Fantastic job frosty! You have really done well! I love the look of it, and using a Panther was a stroke of genius. Now I just might have to try something like this!

Two thumbs up m'dear! :-)

Excellent Frosty!!! I appreciate the comments on my Tiger hatch but seeing the scratch building you're doing, on a 1/72 scale kit no less, is even more impressive to me!!! Keep up the great work Erica! (I think it's a great name Wink [;)] )

thanx, Duke !
believe it or not, there were about 5 of these made by the germans during wwii, for the ardennes offensive. they were 2 b used by Kampfgruppen X & Y of Panzerbrigade 150 2 penetrate the american lines by pretending 2 b retreating US vehicles... they were all abandoned or destroyed near Malmedy on Dec. 21, 1944. i think it was Otto Skorzeny's idea 2 modify Panthers; he originally wanted 2 use captured US equipment, but couldn't find any useable US tanks... so the ersatz m10 was created just for the battle of the bulge. there weren't very many of them, but they did exist...

i'll b working on a dio setting 4 this beastie over the next few days, i think...

Happy New Year !

this is my 1st time trying anything like this...
the other conversions i've done were all add-on stuff.
this was the first time i had 2 cut into the kit & remove things & i was kinda nervous about that...
in the end it was really fun ! Big Smile [:D]
thanx 4 checking out my work !

thanx, Robert !
i'm glad u liked it...
i'm kinda happy w/ the way it turned out even if it's a bit rough in places. Big Smile [:D]
kinda messes w/ the categories tho'... looks like a piece of US armor, but belongs w/ the german stuff... now there's an interesting approach 2 camouflage !
Happy New Year !

Wow! I didn't know that! Shock [:O] I'd heard about their soldiers being trained to emulate U.S. Troops and passing behind enemy lines in Jeeps, but I didn't know that they'd gone that far! Damn those Germans were sneaky! Evil [}:)] Good thing one asked for 'petrol' instead of gas, or we really would have had a ton more trouble in that battle! Tongue [:P]

Now I know I'm gonna have to build one of those too. I have a spare Panzer VI in 1/72 scale that I got from my IPMS club's distressed kit auction. Now I know what to do with it! :-) I have two Shermans, one that I'm going to make Russian (Lend Lease) and a captured one with German markings. Whistling [:-^]

Frosty, Now that you have proven your skill, you can't go back and build stock kits EVERBig Smile [:D] It seems unusual for for someone your age and a girl, to be so interested and driven to do such work.... Don't get me wrong, I think its cool as all get out! It would be nice if there were more like you. Maybe you should do a telethon or something...Big Smile [:D]
You have done a magnificent job on your conversion.... Can't wait to see more work from you...

I don't think you're wierd! I wish I'd found someone like you when I was in high school! Cool [8D] You are happy in yourself, so that makes you more normal than anyone else who is insecure. Hold onto that and you'll never go wrong! Big Smile [:D]

And keep building those great kits! Approve [^]

That ersatz look mighty fine to me, great model Frosty. This is the first time I heard about this beast. I actually never knew the germans would go this far to turn the tables back again. Then again what a great way to camouflage from your enemies, you'll just have to wait for them to come to you and just shoot the whatever you can at them with this one.Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Thumbs Up [tup]

Hi...
just checking in w/ a non-progress report. Sad [:(]
i've been spending a lot of time fretting about my sherman project & also couldn't decide on which color i should paint the roof shingles & window trim
4 the farm building...
i'm going 4 a bluish grey... got the blue undercoat on, maybe i can do some grey washes when i get home.

Is the roof shingle or slate? Slate has a wider variety them shingles.

I hope this is the one you were trying to show. It's currently in the upload section, not the diorama section.

You did a great job. Really looks good!
