Iraqi T-69II wreck...finally done

Looks great and a very smart idea.  Who is doing the casting and what does something like that run?  I am just getting g started with some casting but can't even think about something like that at this point.

Sweet! That is some incredible casting work! You could make some money selling those, as the quality is quite impressive.

Your work has always impressed me but, this one takes the cake.  Scratchbuilding and casting.I   before the master. Yup! Count me in to follow this one.

Dave thanks buddy, but I only made the masters, not the castings. A good friend of mine does resin castings.

These two sets, Stripped Motor compartment and Wrecked T-55 interior, will be released by Celticwerks and distributed through Alpenflage Hobbies. The first set CW3501 Motor comp. will be released sometime Dec./Jan.2011.  The Celticwerks website will be up and running sometime mid Dec.

Marc, I won't be getting much for the sets, only for the masters and as many sets that I want.

These are just some of the parts to the sets. I'm still working on some more parts for the wrecked set.

I think I did went thru an article in hyperscale of similiar project of wreck Type69II in Gulf War I.

But I have to admit the cast details are casp and superb!

         I always enjoy it.......

Scratchmod, if you plan to build few more destroyed T-55s, how is about this one? It is a Serbian T-55 destroyed in Kosovo. The T-55 was the main tank in Yugoslav wars so if you search that topic you can find lots of pictures, especially from the war in Croatia,

The casting idea is a sound one especially since you plan on doing multiples, congrats on getting them made into a product line as well Rob.

This looks like a completely cool project--but as I know the formidable prowess of your finishing techniques, I know that "we ain't seen nuthin; yet"! This will be wicked when it's done.

I'm honestly most impressed at your business sense and success in getting your castings picked up for a product line. That's something that I really think is great--that you can make some money at what you--we--all love so much here. Kinda like writing articles! Ain't life grand?!

Bill and Karl, nice of you to check in on me and glad to hear you like the project of mine. I just got my two sets in today and they look great. The caster is awesome when it comes to resin. We will be doing more Motor Compartment sets in the future.

Hi gents, and ladies. Just a quick update. I received some of the first test castings and dry fitted them in place to give you all an idea of how the T-69 will look with the castings.

Hopefully I'll have some bench time this weekend and the next update will show some progress.

Castings look like they are a near perfect drop-fit Rob, looking forward to seeing them detailed and finished.

Rob - Hummm....somehow this passed under my radar the first time around. Very nice interior details....almost like going back in time.

You have been hanging around Steve too much.....first masters.....next, rusty resin!! Give my best to Steve, his resin moldings look excellent.

 This look incredible. The drop-in fit looks perfect and I perticularly love the look of the plumbing and side wall detail. This is killer stuff Rob, top notch.

Hi guys, been a while since my last update on this build.

Work on this project is finally picking up again, in the form of added debris and some detailing.

The reference pics I have for the tank I am modeling do not show much of the motor compartment, so I am winging it here. I used some aluminum foil for some of the twisted metal and also the remains of the tank on the left hand wall. Styrene strip and small diameter wire was used for the remains of the braking system of the hull floor. There are some other details from the braking system that still have to be added, again using the limited reference I have of this tank.

I also added some of the turret details such as the lifting hooks with added welds, remains of the roof ventilator and some other stuff.

The following pics show the small progress that has been made so far. Having to cast the motor compartment definitely has paid off and now I have enough resin sets for a lot of other wrecks.

I have in the mean time added some braking stuff, pics coming later.

Mike, I am having fun with this, but will have more fun when the painting starts .

Iain, I plan on much more in the future. Right now I have to put this aside to tackle some tech issues with Steve. I may have to redo one of the side walls so it holds up to casting.
