It's a super nice kit, Hinksky.  I'm at the "install the tracks" and weather stage on mine.  I have quite a few photos up on Dale's StuG GB post.  I will tell you that on the periscopes, the instructions tell you to mount it through the forward hatch of the two that are opened.  It will obviously not fit.  Tamiya posted an errata on their website.  It goes through the rear two piece hatch.

Ditto on the tracks.  They are junk.  I ended up snagging a set of 40cm Magic Tracks from a StuG IIIG that I had in the stash.  You can use any Pz III or Pz IV aftermarket tracks as long as they are the 40cm (not the early 38cm) width and they should fit.  So far I've test fit the Magic Tracks, a rubber band track off Tamiya's ancient Wirbelwind (Pz III chassis) and the kit vinyls.  All fit without any modification.  TriStar makes a pretty good workable set for less than either the Fruils or MK tracks.

Good afternoon Gentlemen!

After the success of my Russian JSU-152 I've set the bar high (for myself) on this Stug III - along with the Marder III's it's my favourite of the German SPG's.

It does have an interior which I will be fitting and painting but only very basically as it's going to be buttoned up and no part of the interior will be visible. The gun assembly looks very good so I'm going to build that up and paint and detail that part of the build.

I'm going to use markings for Vehicle No.3, 1st Kompanie, 192nd StuGAbt (Assault Gun Battalion), Poland, June '41.

It's should be a nice simple build as it looks like a typical Tamiya kit! I'm entering it into Dale's StuG GB and I'm just going to see what I can do with it. I'm planning on keeping a detailed Blog running here and I'll have a few WIP shots on the go on the GB thread. I'm going to try some more 'advanced' methods of weathering and may pick a couple of guy's brains for some assistance (if they don't mind)!

I'm builing OOB as it comes with some PE and an turned Aluminium barrel (I'l probably have to use Friuls or MK's though as it comes only with one piece Vinyl tracks - YUCK).

I'm going to start now so update later!
