SF... stretching the track?  Why didn't I think of thatWink That and moving the idlers.  Great suggestions. Thanks.

Sprue, Not sure if the Dragon DS tracks are considered rubber bands or not.  But indies in 1/72?  Oh my... I just threw up a littleIck!.  After the track ends are glued and dry I put them on and take a drill and press the track down a little with the bit and put a hole in the side of the hull.  A short piece of stiff wire is pushed in the hole and back from the edge of the track.  Dome between each roller and Bob's your uncle... sag.

Hi Terry thanks for stopping by and the comments.

Dupes, yup their 1/72 are real nice . When I went through the stash looking for something for the Blitzkrieg GB I found a few more.

Ooooh, nice! Nifty little base you've got there, too. Yes

Aren't many of those little DML 1/72 kits that don't have solid potential in them.

Marc another excellent build, if it was 35th it would be brilliant but 72nd thats master craft work.

Jagdpanzer IV L/70 - 1/72 tracks
Posted by SprueOne on Saturday, October 8, 2011 12:55 PM

I think so. You mentioned pins to create sag, so I'm guessing they are rubber bands supplied stock in the kit.

They looked well handled and painted that I was thinking, "indie links" but in, "1/72"? Then I read your previous last post.

However, if they are not rubber bands from the kit, then please elaborate...

Found if you stretch them its better than dealing with tight tracks. Worst case scenario you have a link or two extra. Also the idler can be moved forward as a extra precaution without sacrificing accuracy.

The sag is well done and I am curious as to how you did this?

Excellent job on the Jagpanzer L/70!Toast

Nice work on this one Marc! Only suggestion I can make is to detail the jack block on the hull rear to go with the other wood details you've done on the tools. Nice job on the cleaning rod replacement. Yes

ah, I was going to ask about the tracks. AM? kit stock? how the sag was set? etc. I'm glad I read all the way through. Anyway looks like a good little model or at least you made it look good.

Nice touch with the rebuild of the cleaning rods Idea

Thanks Mike.  Yes there is a bit of a toe in.  The idler mount is sort of Z shaped with the axle and pivot point offset. In 1/72 scale it is really thin and the DS tracks are a tight fit.  Made tighter when I put the pins in the hull for the sag between the return rollers.  Looking at the picture I am wondering if a small spacer can be stuck between the idler and hul to keep it straightHmm

Look at the last picture....the left track appears to toe in. Give it a look.

Otherwise it looks fantastic, Very nice weathering job...I love the rusty muffler. At least it is bigger than a peanut butter jar!!

A 1 week build, 95% done in a couple of days and the last 5% was like the last few minutes of an NFL or NBA game.  Seemed to go on forever.

But it got done in the end.  So here is the Dragon Jagdpanzer IV L-70, early production in 1/72 scale.  The cleaning rods 3 gigundo sprue gates in it. Really Dragon?  For something that small?  No way that coming off the tree in 1 piece so I  replaced the rods.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

I am using Bostick Blu-Tack and it is not in any way gritty.  Smooth as a baby's hind quarters.

Doog, no problem at all with it leaving any kind of mark., even with doing some speed drying in the dryer on a sweater rack.  Any little bits that were reluctant to come off where picked up with a little ball of the stuff and came of clean.

Marc, those are some of the best looking home grown peppers I've seen. Very yummy looking.

I use blue-tac all the time for masking and never had a problem with residue...of course the chunk I have has been well handled and painted with many many times over (and I also use enamels not acrylics). Not all blue-tack is created equal however so depending on the brand and composition, some residue could be possible. Mine is by 3M FWIW and picked up about 5 years ago. Big Smile

Doog - I think Blu-Tac works the same way as silly putty in that once you knead out some of the oils from a "fresh" batch, it no longer leaves that residue.

Nice looking paint, Marc! Just be careful--I've read some guys' reports that said that that Blu-Tac can leave some kind of residue or taint on the base coat that's hard to get rid of?

Hey Senor Nut - thought you might appreciate these. Definitely the best part of having a garden in your back yard!

Maybe I'll dry a few and grind them up for you for Christmas. It's scientifically proven that eating hot peppers increases the speed at which you model (not that you need any help this week)!

Nice build Sir, top job Yes

Andy: "Quickie" is name given to anything done, well, quickly!

This slang word usually refers to a quick romp or 'jump' with the missus but can be applied to anything really.

I hope that clears things up Wink

Very nice build, wouldn't guess its so small. I find blu tac to gritty and much prefer white tac, but its the results that count.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
