Lol...   I plan to get on the bench again tonight,, or tomorrow.. I took some time off after Downeast Con... between being burnt a little putting time in on the Hellcat,, and fire calls, my son moving out.. and a sinus infection.. I havn't had much ambition..  I spent the last couple of nights,, cleaning the bench off,, re arranging the stash ,,,( hence the found scissors )...and getting back in the grove..

So.. hopefully.. some progress soon !

I know the feeling. Add in yard work, now that the weather has improved.

Oh man, this is a sweet build. My Dad gave me a bunch of his old GI Combat, Weird War, and Unknown Soldier comics when I was a kid and I would reread them all the time. It's been a long time since I've read them now, but I particularly remember a story where the crew destroys a German trap in a canyon, where the Germans had a destroyed looking tank with a working turret but gave themselves away because the Jeb saw their breath rising (it was winter). I always thought that would be a sweet diorama to build, if I ever get into dioramas one day. I was just in a comic store a few weeks ago and found some back issues of GI Combat and was thinking how cool it would be to build a Haunted Tank. I was even telling my friend about the series while we were in the store, lol. I'm looking forward to more updates on this project!

A weld bead around the base might be in order for that "ball-mount"...

did some more work tonight. added the weld bead,, not entirely happy with it.. but I'm not done yet either..Got the PE engine grills done.. had to modify them to fit as I cut the hull deck, and shortened it earlier in the build.. also the PE is for a Dragon kit , not the Tamiya I'm working with.. so.. scratch building is the name of the game..[Photobucket:550:0]

the PE engine grills...Photobucket:550:0]

[/Photobucket:550:0]

still working on these grillls, more touch up.. putty..etc..

Thanks guys.. ! I think I'm going to smooth out the weld bead more.. Huh?

and Herc, ya.. the ball turret for 20mm really brought out the "classic" Jigsaw tank in my mind,,, I know it changed alot from issue to issue.. but that big round bulge with the 20mm poking out.. I always thought was cool... Yes

Got more work done tonight... worked on JEB's MG mount.. and I think it's coming along nice..

here ya go... first I drilled out some holes to mount the wire ringt.Photobucket:550:0]

here are the 2 rings for the mount.. I made them from copper wire, wrapped around a paint bottle to get the roundness correct.. then I soldered them together.Photobucket:550:0]

[here are the risers... super glued in..Photobucket:550:0]

here it is ..with the lower ring attache.. the hatch still opens and closes..Photobucket:550:0]

now.. the upper ring... Photobucket:550:0]

side view...Photobucket:550:0]

[i just quickly glued together the figure from the Walker kit ,, to mock up JEB, and see how he looks with the MG..Photobucket:550:0]

Photobucket:550:0]

this MG mount/ ring is one of those items from the Jigsaw tank that is a memory stuck in my head.. It is used alot in the comic, although not all the time.. But again.  a feature that is prominant in "MY" version... hope you enjoy and it brings back some memories.. Stick out tongue
