Tread ,i had luck with acrylics from the tube and thinned with walmart glass cleaner when i did Gunny . I was able to get the consistency where i wanted it so that the coverage was good when applied over a light primer .I bought a cheap set of artist acrylics that had 12 colors in separate tubes at walmart and mixed my own colors .

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!  Carl is doing figures.  This is going to be great!  I have seen what you have done with Gunny and you will do just great again. 

If you really want good resin heads, go for Hornet or Verlinden resin heads.  They offer excellent details at reasonable cost and I recall seeing several US Marine tankers sets. 

But so far your work is looking good and they will look better after its prime job.  The guy in the right sure looks like Gunny's brother and he scares me...

For the face and hands, what medium will you be working in ?  acrylic or enamel ?... the driver on my Char b1 bis I used acrylic, but I didn't like it ..dried to fast and to much build....If I ever try again I will use oils or enamel...my 2 cents

Tread, yes , we'll see how the figures turn out . This will be my second ( 3rd and 4th ?) attempt at doing figures

I changed the heads on the t.c. and driver with some from the spares box that had the leather helmets . .

SMJ , the city here is replacing the water lines . I'm the lucky one that lives on a corner so both streets have been dug up . The hole in this picture is in the road and in the middle of my side driveway..........still no crews out there today . I might start looking for the keys tomorrow if they dont show up again Hmmmmm..........i bet it wouldnt take long to dig out a pool size hole in my back yard with that track hole would it

SMJ , right now i'm thinking i have too dirt in my life , lol. Look at this hole in my back driveway , and the crew didnt show up today !!!

Eventually i'll apply more grit and grime to a model . Like you said , practice on an old model , thats a good idea .

SMJ thanks man !!!! Your correct , i did hold back on the dirt and mud . After puting all of the time into the running gear details i just couldnt bring myself to cover it with dirt . One of these days , maybe i'll be able to really dirty up a build .

Shellback:  You're not alone....I consider myself pretty bold in the weathering department but I sometimes wonder why the heck I "jump out of a perfectly good airplane!" when I start to weather.  You just gotta' GO FOR IT!!!  Use an old build as a guinea pig!

Shellback:  This work is exquisite!!!  The variation of the O.D. Green is fantastic!... the detailing is unbelievable...my jaw actually hit the floor when I looked at the wood boxes and rope! 

But the smear of mud on the bottom of the blade and the bits of dust here and there leaves me feeling  empty.... I want more!!!  It kinda feels like you held back.  I would expect these bad boys to be FILTHY or at least have clods of dried muds under the fenders, in the road wheels, etc.

Fantastic work there! Love how the blade came out and all the extra work you put into it. And super job on the dirt and weathering. I've tended to either go too clean or to slather on piles of mud- your work looks just right, not too much or too little. I hope my Stuart comes out 10% as good, wonder if I could find a teeny little dozer blade for her (don't think there was ever such an animal as a Stuart dozer).

Mike , Cool man ! Glad to have your comment on this Sherman build . I almost didnt build this one as i'm not a Sherman aholic myself . The little fellow is interesting with the blade hung on it though .
