Wow Shell, that sure is sweet. I'm loving the weathering, the wood, and all in between. Cool and rare subject too.

Duke , there's been heavy equipment around my house for over a month now . Mud , dust , water shut off numerouse times ,equipment back up alarms (beep-beep-beep ) , ground vibrating , driveway blocked , roar of diesel engines ...............the best part of it all has been the construction crew . Bunch of good guys ! I'll actually miss going out and b.s.ing with them when this job is over , which is replacing the dilapidated water system in town . I used to work construction so i feel a kinship with the crew . Course they probably think i'm the old geiser with the war stories ...............lol . Sounds like cool score on the M113 .......with the M4A4 in there also !!! Wow ...........bet you were surprised ...........Yes

I certainly hope your hardships come to an end soon Duke . Take care man and thanks for stopping by .

man, shell,   lookin good...  and totally diggin the pics of your yard equipment...  so lookin at those pretty much anythings goes as far as weathering for these beasts...  i'm a heavy handed weatherer, so i always likme to have some good ref... to back up my way of thinking...  oh yeah...  through all my hard ships this past few months, we had a yard sale and this dude came by and grabbed some old tools i had...  while he was there i was loading alot of my stash kits into my car to move, and he just up and took off, only to come back with a bag...  so long story short i traded an old gear puller and a ball joint socket for an old tamiya m113, and low and behold the cyberhobby boxing of the sherman m4a4 with the crew figures...  he said he grabbed them from the trash at the local swap meet...  that was such a cool score...  i was only gonna get about ten bucks for the tools...  now i have a sherman and a m113 to go with the eduard zelda big ed set i came up on last year....  man, good work and keep it coming...

malone duke

i've been able to get back on here and caught up with everything.  i'm still amazed man.  really incredible work. one thing tough. looking at your front yard i really hope you got some close ups of all of that equipment. first hand reference. especially since i see back on the road a similar blade.  plus all the running gear covered in mud.  just sayin...  man i gotta get sherman now...

I took this pic today . There is no dozer on the job so i took a pic of this loader .

Looking GREAT, ShellYesBeer

I can see on the piston the different levels the blade has been held at and then moved... that ring of hydraulic fluid that encircles the piston and slight leakage.....  leaky fluids and fuel spills are tough ..it is hard to maintain the glossy look without looking to thick.  and you did a fine job Pal :  )   very convincing !

here comes Shell ... down the home stretch !

I managed to get the the shroud that covers the  piston that lifts the blade finished and attached, actually it just setting over the frame . The shroud is made from a large piece of brass P.E. with numerouse folds in it . Getting the correct shape so it would fit correctly over the frame took several dry fittings . Also i did some weathering on the piston shaft itself to represent hydraulic oil leakedge and the marks that are left from the seal around the piston . The piston shaft is a piece of aluminum tubing that was shined up . There is no extended shaft in the Verlinden kit as the the blade oob in that conversion sets on the ground and i wanted mine raised . I used black oils to represent the dirty hydraulic oil on the piston shaft . . It took several attempts to get the look i wanted of the oil on the shaft .
