Gino - Thanks for the peek. Details are the key and the fun part.

Tread - Thanks for the late night look. As I said the PE tool boxes beat the hell out of the plastic kit boxes. Will try to mount one open with some tools.....hopefully. Track are usually a PITA....but these since the rubber was separated was a bit nicer.

Carl - I know it was late and so it was snack time and not popcorn time but thanks for stopping by. You know I love the details. I will try to keep you interest with more details

Thanks everyone

Clay - Thank you very much for the kind words and for visiting my site. Yep...AFV wat thinking of a 75mm and Dragon was rumored to be making a T-30, 75mm howitzer motor carriage (half track). I have learned patience....I sit like a vulture just watching and waiting.

Time to finish up some final details. In the rear, I mounted the PE light guards, using sail ship rope to make the winch cable and hook both painted with Alclad steel. Finally the rear door chain, painted with Alclad steel.

Here is another view of the rear. Here you can see two 8 inch projectiles on the ground.  In the background the projectile rack leaning on the rear shackle.

Finally here is a close up of the crane. The chains and hook painted with Alclad steel. The roller on the boom also painted with Alclad steel while the top surface of the boom and the crane shaft dry brushed with steel to show wear.

In the front I created a mask for the wiper and dusted the window. Here you see the final result with the PE wiper mounted along with the headlight guard

On the side, here are the doors mounted. I added PE straps and tied them in the open position

Also here are the PE engine screen doors.

Going on top, I left one of the PE tool boxes open. Using some tools from an Italeri tool set, I tried to set a work in progress look.

Here is where I am at right now overall.

Still finishing the M2 .50 cal then some touch ups and light weathering and I will be done. Should be ready to go for AMPS East

As always all comments are welcome.

Nice going, Mike Big Smile

It looks really sharp with all the small details you have added. The tool box with the tools opened looks real good YesBeer and of course the ' fabric ' doors look like the real deal. The ammo and crane also look top notch.

Also really like what you have done with the windshield wipers and window streaking.

Don't forget a final update with .50 cal mounted ! Stick out tongue

tread Cool

Tread - Thanks...glad you like my details. Not to fear the old Ma Duce is coming. Think the details come as I reduce myself to 1/35 and look at the details from the "inside" standpoint!!! I'm climbing into the rear and beginning to mount Ma!!

Bill - Like I said to Tread, I try to put myself in the build....it help with detail vision!!

Thanks guys for stopping in and for the comments

She keeps looking better and better! I swore I'd build my kit 'right-outta-da-box' but the more I look at your PE and tissue doors the more I'm tempted! Great job all around!

Miguel... mucho gusto.

All the attention to detail has paid off in spades.  That ammo just blows me away though (no pun intended)

Well, it’s the night before the show, time for the final update.

First was to complete the canvas cover with some PE straps. Here is the straps on the side that is still connected to the vehicle.

An open canvas has to have some loose straps

Then I need to add Ma…the old Ma Duce. I used a Tasca M2 for this build. It is painted with my parkerized mix. The handles are Poly Scale rust. The ammo box is Poly Scale Dark Tactical Green.

And from the other side

Then some final weathering using AK Earth Wash, a mix of MIG Pigments including Light Rust, VN Earth and European Soil. Lastly was Floquil Oil for fuel and oil spills. So with that, here is the finished M4 18 ton HST

As always all comments are welcome. Thanks for dropping by this build. Next up onto the bench, the M1009 CUCV

Mike- absolutely fantastic. I've been lurking since you started this and it's been a treat to watch you bring this one home. I've got this kit in the stash and now I've got some great tricks of yours to draw from. The Eduard PE sets are definitely on my list! YesBeer

Best of luck at AMPS- no doubt this will draw plenty of attention!

Stage Left - The PE is worth it on this kit. Glad you enjoyed the build. Thanks for the comments.

Tread - My friend, thanks, I always love Ma....as for the weekend, the weekend in Danbury is always a meeting of friends and that's what makes it fun

Clay - Thanks for stopping by and for your comments.

The M4 could be used for either the M115 8 inch howitzer or the M59 155mm "Long Tom" gun.

As for your earlier comment, "tools".....nothing special, just stones, hammers, sledge....you know your standard modeling tools.

Thanks guys for stopping in and for the comments.

Subfixer - Thanks for the comments and for stopping by.

Gamera - Enjoy your build. I Hope my build log has given you some ideas.

Bill - Thanks Bill. Hardware is nice but seeing all my old friends makes it worthwhile. As for stash items, most likely not unless there is a offer I cannot refuse. Will look for some AM items and AK is here. Need to hit Ian up for some of their products.

Carl - I know, it is a bummer when the bucket is empty. Think of it as intermission. get another bucket ready.....I'll be back with the M1009 not M109. The M1009 also known as the CUCV, the 1980s Chevy blazer used by the US Army. Nothing like a nice resin kit!!

Rob - Thanks for the comments and for stopping in.

Clay - The tools are not the greatest....and a bit LARGE but in the heat of battle, trying to get the build finished I wanted to have the tool box open and it was all I had on the shelf. SOOOO...let me say, I would not recommend using the tools from the Italeri set. Thanks again for the comments
