I wouldn't think we'd want two threads on the topic going, so we should probably start one in the GB Forum.

My question: Is it too early to start a thread there? 3 months until the start date.

If you decide to start a thread in the GB forum I would do it not.  A 3 month lead time is fine.  It gives the participants a place you go to get pre-build info if needed.  I would also then have the participants NOT use this thread.  Too much jumping around.  Maybe use this at the tail end for a re-cap for the folks that never go to the GB forum.

So Steve SMJ, ran the other show? Would he be interested again? I have no problem turning the keys over to him if wants.

Yes Ben, I kind of brought this up in an older GB. Seemed to stir a pot of interest. It will give me an excuse to build my Tiger.

Hey TM,

I'm DEFINATELY game but have just forked out for my new Dragon Flakpanzer I kit and cash is a little tight PLUS I've started getting together a small blog for my Dragon Sherman IC Hrbrid Firefly build which I'll be starting tomorrow.

I have been looking at building a certain Dragon Jagdtiger for a while now and would definately be keen to join this GB when the Firefly is fully complete - I estimate completion to be October at the very latest?

Even if you were to start now and run for a year then that's fine but start now and have a 6 month GB then I'd be unable to take part.

Ideally a September start would suit me.

What's the general concensus? I know Andy Deafpanzer and I have talked re this GB and are both well up for it!

Cheers Eric,

Ben Toast

I guess theres been so many GB's over the last few years, and you get som used to seeing certain people, you lose track of who took part in what GB.

Not sure if you have any ideas for the badge. But i do like the original one and somthing on those lines might be nice.

Good idea T-man!

I've never built any of the BIG cats in my life, so this GB would be a great opportunity to do just that and maybe get some support and good advice from all the cat lovers out there. Big Smile So, I'm on!

My idea is to build a Tiger I from the B company of Schwere Panzer-Abteilung 504, stationed in Sicily in May -43. I don't have a single clue what kit would fit that description, but I've got this nagging feeling tht someone in this thread could point me in the right direction. Wink

/Tony (the temporary) Tiger

My guess is it would be an Early or Mid version due to the timeframe.

Just a thought... should we keep Big Cats II GB here in Armor section?  That way everybody can follow the builds.  I am concerned many of us are signing up leaving much fewer builds here...

Bish, I never did participate in the other GB. Must have been involved with something else.

don't feel bad, I have building cars for so long I almost kept the panther in a gloss coat...lol

At least you didn't try and paint it yellow or red or somthing similar lol. Though that would be different.

Thought about painting one pink just to say I built a pink panther, but decided against it lol

This is going to be one interesting group build,a lot of big talent signing up for this one,

and this rookie right here! I am actually looking forward to this.

After seeing your Panther you got nothing to worry aout. Me however, i haven't built any armour for over two years. I just have to remember not to put wings on it.

Big cats revenge sounds good.

I thought there might have been a Big Cats I, so Big Cats the Revenge, or perhaps Revenge of the Big Cats will have to be the new name to avoid any confusion.

Tigerman:  BIG CATS II, yeah baby!!!YesYes

I'll be building a Tiger or Panther.  Luckmodel has an AFV Tiger Ausf E Late on sale so I may grab that or I'll finally build my Dragon Panther A Early.

I would be up for the early start but September works well too!  Looking forward to this one!

Eric -- Big Cats II, yay!!! I'm in for sure, that Tamiya King Tiger (Porsche) with Cavalier zimmerit and ambush scheme has been calling for a long time! i also have the Dragon Jagdpanther, which would take zim nicely and maybe a turned barrel -- depends if I can get some decent tracks for it, the Imperial series L&Ls give me nightmares...

September is soon enough for me, I have way too much on, not to mention a house move coming up probably in October and an overseas trip in November, so it'll be a month off Christmas before I can get to it -- unless I knock it off quick before the move.

Eric: Sept works great for me. My birthday is Sept 4th so I'm tempted to buy another Tiger but well, I'll try to get this one done first!

I pulled out the kit and it's Dragon Premium Edition Kit 6312

nice looking scene . Wondering why them shell casing are laying out there in front of the King ..........................Hmm

Dunno, I'd just assumed that maybe they were rolling around inside the tank and the radio operator and loader had chucked them out the right driver's hatch.

This sounds fun. I just picked up the Tamiya KT "Ardennes" with the motorcycle in the box, and a set of Friuls.  I've been wanting to do a KT with the Henschel turret and zimm for a while now. Sept sounds like a good start time for me too.

I should start looking at pics and such, see if I can do one w/o the fenders, kind of beat-up looking.

PaperPanzer

I might join later when my interest in Armor returns, (been on aircraft and ships for a while now.) I have a Tamiya Panther ausf. A in 1/35.

Do yourself a favor and sell the Tamiya kit and get a Dragon kit. You'll get a more accurate kit and it will come with all the upgrades that you'd have to add to the Tamiya kit.

Don, I built the Dragon Jagdtiger. It's a pretty simple kit and looked the part after being built. I had to scratch the rods, because I couldn't thread the wire cables through the holes.

Put me down as a tentative entrant.  I love your GB/s Eric and maybe by Sept. I will be more mentally ready.  The modeling funk I am in really has a tight grip.  From a high of 27 models in 1 year a while back to zero completions and it's June.Crying

The plan would be for an Initial Tiger.  The Dragon kit, not sure the kit number.  But it's the older one that was worth some money, then re-released so value went down but is going back up a bit.  These are kits though... not investments.  It would be 100% OOB.  Sorry David, if your peaking< I know it will likely cause you pain to see inaccuracies not fixed.Wink

But still it bites when we get excited about a new release, spend the $$$$ and year or two later better kits come out at about the same price that we paid for the older kit . My stash is full of them . Hope ypu get back into  building Marc . Yes

SWEET. Spet is just fine by me. I will be moving all my stash and everything else around August, so with any luck i should be set up and ready to go by end of Sept. I have narrowed it down to one of 4 kits. Italeri Bergepanther, Dragon Coelian, CH Panther with Pz IV turret or CMK Bergetiger.
