The aftermarket details you have added really make this old kit something special, Shellback! Looking forward to seeing the paint job!

RBaer

I'm glad I poked my nose in here, this is cool!

I'm glad I took a look too.I'm just starting Trumpeters 12 ton halftrack for the Dirty Dozen in the Hooray for Hollywood group build. I hope mine looks as good as yours in the end. Trumpeter's half track is made with individual track peices. Any words of advise on these are very welcome. I've never done these before.

Thanks

WOW, "m thinking back to when I built this kit, and realizing all the potential upgrades and detail that you're adding to it, and I'm turning green....lol

Looking wonderful, Carl.

Doogs , thanks for looking in again . Back in the day there wasn't much available or a.m. upgrades was there .

I was looking at Friul tracks. They don't have ones for the 12 ton. Will these work?

Here is the box art for the halftrack

And a couple pics of the kit tracks Hope you can see them.

Ken , if it was me I'd go with the tracks provided in the kit . They look like they should build up nicely . I see that the track pin is trapped in place when the section with the rubber pad is glue over it . Just be careful and don't apply too much glue and they should work fine .

As far as the Friuls Atl-24 I can't say if they will fit and wouldn't want you to chance investing in them .

More p.e. added . The roof vent hatches are a nice touch . I might leave the cab off so interior details can be seen better .

Thanks Shell, Okay, I'll give these ones a try. They seem to work with a very tiny amount of super glue on a toothpick.

I'm not so great doing some of these little parts, but at least there not as small as some of the PE that came with the kit. Big Smile

Yours is starting to take shape and looking good.

Shell those fruil tracks look very very similair to mine. I still might give them a try, as I messed two links up by not being careful when I cut one off the sprue and cleaning it up on the other. they have them on Ebay for about $30.00. What color would the rubber pads be? Should I use flat black on them?

Another option would be modelkasten tracks. I have the same build going as Shellback ( using the eduard set , RB model barrel, Tank Workshop resin front wheels and model kasten tracks and wheels). The Modelkasten tracks are pretty nice, WBill is the expert on Modelkasten tracks though and most likely knows what set that you would need for your specific kit.

Hey guys thanks for the good words ! Its great to get back on the forum and hear from you guys !

I sprayed a coat of future overall to get ready for weathering . It made the camo pop .

Ken , I agree the tracks links look the same . I cant say if they'll fit or not . I read where the Trumpeter Sdffz 8 uses 56 of the kit provided links per side . The Friuls have 120 links .The pads are black rubber but weathering will change the look of them .

I've been slow on this one but here an update . I used Mig pigments  , artist oils and some enamels in the weathering process . Next will be building the 37 mm .
