does that trebuchet actually operate? Looks it you could lob jelly beans with it!

Yes, it apparently does  Stick out tongue That would be really fun. The company also makes an operational Balista  Hmm. I guess you can chase the cat with that one.

Yeah, I thought about that too, so self propelled is in.

This is what I'm thinking about. $24.00, 230 mm long  and 350 mm tall, all wood. Plus it would be cool to add to the collection.
By the way this is not self propelled.

Cody: Love that badge too, not sure I can decide on which I like better.

Steve-  Thanks Man!  I really appreciate it.  As far as Karl Morser I believe the Germans produced 7 from what I read earlier.  I think 2 or 3 are still unaccounted for. Kinda want one now! Lol

I wouldn't want to make the call on the  rail gun, but one could have a similar argument about naval weapons.   Unless the cannon or mortar is on dry land, would not having it on board a ship make it self-propelled on some level? Cool

regards,

Jack

Cody,

Man I LOVE that patch. That looks soooo cool. Makes me want to build a naval gun. I'll just have to offer a couple of patches.

Nice job.

That Karl seems like a mean mortar. Do you know how many Germany put into service?

I don't think it could.  Could it?   This was the only thing I found about it and its preparation to fire.  None the less, to me it was so limited without that train that I dont know how "Self-propelled" it can really be considered.  I think its going to be an awesome build Terry!  Really cool choice!

www.germandressdaggers.com/Panzer%20Moser%20Karl.htm

"The weapon was moved longer distances via rail on a variant of a Schnabel car; the whole chassis was hung between two huge pedestal-mounted swiveling arms fixed to five-bogy railway flatbed cars. When it reached its destination, the weapon was detached from its supporting arms, driven to its intended firing location, then the chassis was lowered to the ground to distribute the recoil forces more evenly in preparation for firing. The Karl-Gerät proved to have no problems moving over normal soil, but under no circumstances was it allowed to make turns on soft soil lest it throw a track. The chassis had to be backed into position to fire, which expedited movement to a new position and the firing position had to be precisely leveled and the approach route prepared ahead of time to fill in soft spots and any ditches, etc. The Mörser could only be loaded at zero elevation, so it had to be re-aimed between every shot."

jibber

Steve I get the argument but if I were to build it as a stand alone on tracks, yes its self propelled but it was also used while on it's rail transports. Steve I'll stand by your call, either way I'll have an entry.

TERRY where did you read they could fire it while on the rail transports? that's interesting.

Wayne-  Thanks I think youre right it, will look better the first way since we probably will shrink them up.

Modelcrazy-  Thanks Man, I will try something with the atomic cannon (do you want it to be the same image you have?) but I really think you have a good one there.  I certainly would want for you to keep that available for all to use!  Just gotta love big booms!

Edit:  Here is the other one I was working on.  For all who may do anything Navy/Sea related!  Quite Patriotic huh!

No problem, Jibber,

I have modified the rules to include self propelled. It was leaving too many possibilities out.

Go for it.

Still no AT guns please.

You know jibber, Wayne and I were just talking about this exact kit for this build. He argues that it's not technically self propelled and I said it was because the rail cars were just used to take it the the destination and drop it off.

HOWEVER. after some more thought, if you and I build them on their rail cars, then Wayne would be correct. Technically the rail cars are their prime movers.

The Sherman T34 Calliope, would be iffy because is self propelled, but a rocket launcher, like the SdKfz 251.

I have to rethink this self propelled thing, because there is a lot on a fine line.

Long explanation short. You got it I'll put down for that awesome Karl my friend.

MC, I didn't want to pass this one up so I've found a way to crossover a rail gun that I was planning on sometime this year. Heres my entry, a Hasegawa Karl-Morser in 1/72. I've been working on some 1/72 items and this will be the last piece before I put together a RR diorama. Even though this is in 1/72, theres still over 400 parts and I can't wait to dig into it. I'll post WIP pics when I get started and thanks for the GB.

i like the first one. remember it will be sized down and the texture probably won't show. it will stand out in a cluster of badges and that is always my first thought when designing a badge.

Cody,

Thank you for working on badges, I'm not very good at computer graphics, pretty basic and not very striking, your badges look good.  Yes I like like the textured one myself, It looks all scratched up.

Do you think you can do anything with the Atomic Cannon, just to see how it turns out?.

By the way, "Fire for Effect" was Waynec's idea, but I don't think he'll mind.

Awesome!  I'll give a badge a shot but I doubt it will be that cool!   I love "Fire for effect!".

This will be a cool one!

Edit:  Here is what I came up with.  I have another I was looking at and will try tomorrow.  I got rolling and looked at the time...  3am.   Opps.   Oh well!

The First has no texture.  The 2nd has an antique photo filter on it.  Not sure which looks best...  I think the first one but would like opinions.  Hope you like them.

Oh Modelcrazy - I borrow the "fire for effect".   Hope thats ok.

Yeah, but I'd lose that argument, since it's self propelled and just carried to the site using rail carriers. Although I'd really like to use it, I gota keep with my own rules.

I'm kinda leaning toward that Civil War piece.

Sorry,  no AT guns.

Just artillery. And not self propelled.  Towed guns w prime movers if you want, mortars,  rocket launchers, missiles, ship board mortars, catapults, railway guns/mortas. My "Thor" wouldn't qualify because it's self propelled.

Steve

i suppose if you had THOR secured to its rail carrier you could argue it would work.

Bish,
I would be horned for you to join when you feel you have the time.

Gamera
I do have an Douglas A-1 Skyraider and a North American B-25 and several P-51s- both Douglas and North American ended up bought out by Boeing so I guess it sorta makes them Boeing aircraft? You'd have to make the call here!

Gamera,

Yes the Boeing build will have a VERY wide angle. Anything and I mean ANYTHING Boeing. Which includes Boeing and Boeing owned or partnered companies. McDonnell Douglas, Bell, North American, air, space, radar. any era, from the Model 1 to today.
You know those Boeing commercials you see on TV (the telly)? Well let your imagination run.
And the P-26 ain't so hard. I just finished one.

Steve

Ok! Yeah, I think Boeing owns about half or more of the US aviation industry now! This summer seems awhile away but I should be able to jump in with something.

Gimme a holler if you ever need a badge designed.

Thanks Cody, I designed this one but I'd love to see what you can come up with.
