Looks real nice, but have to agree with Karl, it doesn't look pretty.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
I think it is best considered to be a pretty potent self propelled anti-tank gun, considering that it has to be served by crew on the exterior.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Hmmm....... I will grant that the model is interesting, lol!
Apprentice rivet counter.
RBaer Funny, that turret/hull combo is just about as ugly as the south end of a north-bound dog.

I like all the extra work on the turret, should pay off nicely.
I've built enought Shermans to develop quite the "Sherman eye" -- it's really a curse at times!
(But I still enjoyed the heck out of "Fury"!!)

Looking at that hulk I posted at the beginning; Roy, the forward corner of the right front plate is even clipped off. See, I would LOVE that as a detail.
I generally build ships, lots of detail. Please keep the observations coming.
Hey, no that's great. First of all, if it's getting that level of scrutiny I must be doing something right. I didn't know the difference between HVSS and VVSS before I started this build. I can see what you are getting at. I also learned the hard way that putting new bent wire grabs in the existing holes for the oversized plastic ones is a no-go. Next time I'll fill.then drill.
Ugh -- I hate to mention this -- feel free to ignore it. But the applique armor locations are a bit off. The Egyptians used normal M4A4 hulls -- if you go to the DML directions, they'll tell you where each piece goes. Then the Egyptians added more plates -- but the factory installed original three pieces are a bit off on your tank. The left side single slab should be further back. The front right slab should be almost touching the glacis.
Like a duck that's been scolded!
Karl you mentioned earlier you built an AMX. I'd love to see it.
Spruece- thank you. I have the bottom half of one in 1/35 free for the asking.
That looks cool!
It's got a face only a mother could love though. What an ugly beast! lol
I like the work you have accomplished so far.
Makes me want to look for an old 1/72 Heller AMX 13/75 kit at a swap meet.
I've been working away for a while and finally have enough to show.
I was fortunate to start with the Cyber Hobby Orange Box. It also had the three piece final drive, the A2 deck, a bunch of fittings, drive sprockets etc. I needed to match the Latrun tank, my subject if it were still in the original owner's pool.
Also a Heller AMX 13 75, a def.com barrel and AFV T-51 tracks to come.
But really it's been a lot of gizmology based on a great walkaround portfolio from Latrun, and probably at least four WIP posts on other forums.
Not a very original build, but a good way to learn my way around a Sherman.
Comments and crits welcome. Will be a WIP.
Heller kit came today.
I think it looks really good in the box. The canvas dust barriers for the oscillating turret joint are two separate parts, which I won't use, and a center section under the mantlet, which i'll sand off. In the Mid East their customers got a rubber seal instead.
I think the barrel and muzzle break look usable.
Yeah the turret looks sleek on the low-slung AMX 13 but kinda odd on the Sherman hull, still very cool though!

Oh double heck, back into armor models!
It would seem that there are a total of three of these things left- the hulk and two at Latrun.
Somewhere there was an opine that Egypt had about fifty, which is a lot.
First used in 1956.
Oh and ever since I saw Shep's diorama "Road to Damascus" I've always wanted a M-51.
Thanks, R.
EDIT: I need some tips on navigating there...
EDIT EDIT: Found it by Google search, then carefully backed out to home page. Different form of thread but I get it. Thanks!
And I thought my Magava was an ugly tank......
BTW, there's a build going on over on the Big "A", same thing, lots of good info.
Wow, neat--I"m going to be selling a built AMX-13 on ebay in a few days!
My understanding is that it's the same gun used in the Super Sherman, so it's kind of an Egypterman!
A little different approach.
mississippivol How could anyone fit in that turret?
How could anyone fit in that turret?
Bish- haven't gotten that far yet, but I like it.
That's an interesting looking one. Are you going for the scheme in the last image.
My next project!
I just grabbed a cheap Heller AMX 13/75 and a not-so-cheap Cyber Hobby M4A4 off of eBay.
