Last week I got the CARC Brown patches on
Today I did the Black
I still need to go back and touch up the green, then it's time for detail item painting, gloss coat, decals, etc...
Looking good. The camo pattern came out nicely.

Great job on the camo, Stick!
2022 New Year's Resolution: Enter 1 group build and COMPLETE a build this year!! Why Photobucket did you rob me of my one Group Build Badge??? Must be part of the strong anti-Monogram cartel!!!

Carlos- I think you are in your sweet spot here. This thing looks really good. I can tell you are really sweating the details. It'll be awhile before I dare try NATO camo.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Thanks guys. I am just a bit puzzled as to why the Brown came out a bit glossy. It was stirred just as much as the other colors, thinned to the same ratios, applied at the same pressure settings, etc. BTW, the Brown and Green are old discontinued Floquil Military Enamel colors and the Black is Testors square bottle. All Flats.
I swear sometimes the digital flash photos catches stuff that I miss by eye and makes me squirm a bit... Ah well... It will look the part once it's all done...
She's coming along great SP. Weird about the brown, I've had the same thing happen- well that's what a matte finish coat is for!

Maybe a reaction to the thinner. Flat coat, baby!
That scheme does look nice Stik. I often have the opposite problem, gloss paints coming out flat. I know what you mean about the photo's, I dread taking close up's of 72nd cockpits.

Gamera, that's exactly why I am not overly concerned. I still gotta do the gloss coat for those big red cross decals, and then the final flat coat. So in the end it now big deal.
GM, that is what makes me curious. The green and the brown are both Floquil enamels of the same age, and mixed with Testors Universal Enamel Airbrush Thinner (my preferred thinner for airbrushing enamels) in the same ratio. After thorough stirring. Again, due to upcoming steps, not a big deal, but a curious question in my mind. This is not the first time that it has happened.
Bish, I run into the reluctant glosses more often than this issue. Thanks for the compliment on the scheme. I intend to get on with the next stages here in a few days when life slows down for me.
Nice freehand camo!
I'm glad to hear that you like it Greg.
Whaaatttt??? Freehand??? You go, Carlos!!! Looks great!

Fantastic work on camo. Really tight!
No bucks, no Buck Rogers
Masks?! We don't need no stinking masks!;)
Thanks guys.
You should give painting the crosses a shot.
That sounds like an exercise in masking... The big ones would be easy, but the little ones... Yuck!
That's a nice camo job, Carlos!
Thank you Karl.
Very nice camo, really looks the part regardless of the sheen.
Apprentice rivet counter.
Thanks RB.
A week or so ago I was able to do the touch up work on the camo on this project
and then the other day I airbrushed on the Future coat to get it ready for decals
unfortunately yesterday evening there was an accident where this fell to the driveway and took a ding on one corner so I need to touch that up before I proceed...
Woundered where this had good, she looks nice carlos. But i have to ask, why was it on your drive. It does not even have any wheels on it.
Or perhaps it did. You didn't happen to find it propped up on bricks did you

Well I was taking it to IPMS meeting last night and trying to load it into my car.... being stubborn I did not put the box down prior to opening the door and while doing that, the build got knocked out of the box to the concrete below... fortunately no major damage... save perhaps to my neighbors' ears as I let out a stream of bad words as it fell and until I examined the results...
BishYep, done that, usually when I am going out the shed for a paint session.
I had that happen at my old house several times. I built in my work room and did painting in the garage. There was no interior connection in the house to the garage, so I had to use some side doors to transfer kits from one to the other. And that narrow side yard just happened to run in the same direction as the prevailing winds, and act as a wind tunnel of sorts. On more than one occasion I got to see aerodynamic lift of certain designs demonstrated when a particularly strong gust would blow and the aircraft would rise out of its' transport box, acheive momentary flight, and then stall when gravity overcame lift...
Damn gravity. Worst invention ever if you ask me.
Nice work whipping this into shape, Carlos! And thanks for featuring it here on the Armor forum!
Guy I worked with put an architectural model on the roof of his car, opened the door, got in drove off. major disaster.
Karl, I do like to thinkof myself as a useful contributor at this place... even if I do gripe about some things...
GM, that would have been real ugly real fast I imagine...
well here are my damage report photos...
worst hit, left rear upper corner
lighter damage, left front upper area
and an overall view
some of the bottom got scraped up too, but hey, it's the bottom... it looked worse on impact as all the tacked on doors went flying off, but thankfully, non of the glued on parts broke off...
