27 bucks total would be a dream. I am trying to do all paper panzers right now. So the maus is next. the kit was kind of high since its as old as i am so had to find one on ebay. paid big for it. like 80 bucks..... only to see today that takom is releasing one in feb. that has workable tracks... gonna get it too.. for reasons.. This lowe kit wasnt easy to find either nor cheap. I prefer highly detailed kits then go and try to detail them even more so. SO kit price tag averaging that cost plus AM parts. Plus paints... and equipment cause well i had none. I almost have all the tools i need to do almost any kit now. Another AB and some stencils then add air tank to my compressor. Then its just small bits of tools i need. But these paint orders are ripping my wallet up lol. last 2 orders of paint were 150 bucks then another 80. and the next one for weathering stuff is like 90 bucks.

I hadn't seen that about Takom, they are really putting them out. I think i will stick with just the Dragon kit. Althgouygh i have considered doing a Flak Maus, that would be a nice conversion. Glad i got the Dragon  when i did, while it was still on the wider market, not sure i would want to pay $80 for it.

That's a lot of money for paint when you could have bought individual bottles of the colors you need instead of paint sets. I can understand the weathering stuff though. Just saying...

I like the dots, maybe add some more? I dunno if the ambush scheme is right for that tank but since it's a paper panzer I'm not sure it matters here. Maybe the German experts would know?

I picked up Trumpeter's E-100 on Squadron's after Christmas sale and it's a really nice kit. Not many parts and they're really big (as it was a really big tank). If you like paper panzers you could do a lot worse.

Ambush Scheme was only used for a short time - September-October 1944 I think. Around that time and it was only applied in factories. Despite it being popular amongst modellers and on World Of Tenks (yes I play that game) only the brand new tanks leaving the factories would have sported that. so in reality not too many tanks on the front lines would have had it and they would have been spread out allalong the 3 front lines.

Saying that, as this was a Paper Panzer then it doesn't really matter.

I have gone through the kit again and like the first one there is no metal barrel. I will be going for a metal barrel from a german supplier I have found and also Friul tracks. I remember the first time I did this and the tracks were a nightmare to put together. Friul tracks are much easier!!!

At this moment in time I have Amusing Hobby's new Jagdpanther II on my bench. There is no metal barrel in the kit (128mmm like the Jadgtiger's barrel) and the tracks are a nightmare so friul tracks are on the way. This is being done in March 1945 colours with a splinter pattern applied. I have just finished painting kill rings onto the barrel and am currently dealing with the wheels while waiting for the tracks to turn up.

These Amusing Hobby kits are not easy to get hold of and I source mine from China through Ebay but they are good kits and I look forwards to their Panther II being released. I may also go for more of their range. I like building them.

The lowe tracks aren't that bad. i just used the jig they provided. What i did was a assembly line type of deal. Cut all track pieces from sprues then seperated them in 4 different tubberware. and yea trumpeter is releasing a maus with full interior now. Pissed....  and i agree on the paint. I am happy with the paints but i will say maybe next time ill get vallejo model air. So i will add more dots Maybe tonight. Painted wheels last night. Will update with pics after work.

Snap, whats that panther II like, i didn't realise it had been released. And if i am ask, given that the Lowe has a one piece plastic barrelk, why bother with a metal one.

The barrel in the kit is either 2 or 3 tubes you put together. I am curious about the metal barrel I found from a small AM producer in Germany. It has 2 different muzzle brakes. He also does a 128mm gun for the Lowe with a different mantle.

The Jagdpanther II is a nice kit and it goes together very well. The Panther II is due around March I believe.

I must say that I do like the Friul tracks for some of my kits and they are quite easy to put together and with some dark steel paint from AK's Xtreme Metal range look very lifelike!

I will put up my Jagdpanther II build at some point over the next too days and you can then all see what colour Dunkelgelb really was in March 1945 as I have done a 2 tone splinter pattern.

I must admit to liking Trumpeter and Amusing Hobby Paper Panzers. They are fun and look good when done.

Well i will be interested to see how that barrel turns out. I had thought about the Voyarger one but i prefer the larger muzzle brake that come with the kit.

I do like Fruils, but have refrained from buying them for kits with indy tracks. I already have 30 Fruil sets to use, thats costly enough.

I do like the Trump paper panzer having built the E-100 jagd and i like the look of the AM kits. I have two so far, i just wish they were more easy to get in the UK. They do have them in Germany but the pre postage cost is higher than the total cost fom China on E-Bay.

I believe my next kit will be trump. They have majority of the subjects i am interested in and seem to have more detail which i like. They annouced they are doing a maus with full interior which i will be getting. So no AM for the dragon maus. PE if anything but no tracks or engine. Going from a old tamiya kit to this amusing hobby was a joy. The tamiya kit lacks alot for me. I enjoy assembly more than painting. Tamiya kits can be built too quick for my taste. The material with the amusing hobby seemed to be softer and easier to work with. Once i get the trump maus i may do a maus vs maus. granted itd be unfair since dragon's was released in the year i was born like 1992.

Progress so far.

Got to hit it with a coat of matte varnish. Then will weather. I don't plan on doing heavy weathering as this is a paper panzer. I believe some dust and maybe a fine mist of tan or light brown over the model.

Well im calling this one done. I went really light on the weathering as it is new to me and this tank wouldve been new and wouldve probably never left berlin's streets in 1946. I added dark earth to the tracks. Some very minor brown wash over the yellow in some areas. Also did a very light mist of dust over the entire tank. Lets hear your opinions and critiques. Do not be reserved. I won't get better if you don't tell me the truth. Enjoy.

I don't know much about the German stuff but she looks pretty good to me.

Good call on the weathering, you can always add more but it's hard to dial it back when you add too much (unless of course you use pigments and don't 'set' them).
