Please put me on the list, i want to takle this challenge.
Now, to find out what kit to build,Any suggestions?
I was thinking one of hasegaws.

This is an old post that has resurfaced...
There's no need for any signing up, whoever can make it on the 8th, is in.
Anybody passerby is welcome.
It's nice to hear who's planning on joining and that interest is growing, the main thing is to have a list the day of, or day before (remember I'm on EST).

The only experience I have with different kits...A while back I ordered 3 different brands of the 1/72 Tiger I to see the differences, RevellAG (not the one I'm building for MTD), Italieri (T-34), Airfix and Hasegawa.
The latter two were truly horrible kits. I've been told that they're very old molds but I'm turned off to those companies for good.
I'd have to say RevellAG is the way to go.
Also note that I haven't built any of these, just put on the shelf so I don't know how they fit...or how those Revell tracks are going to go together.Tongue [:P]

I haven't even found the 1/72 on the shelves yet, but I haven't checked for a week, either. I do have a couple of their 1/144, though, and close to all their other 1/72 kits. What I've found with the 1/72 is that the instructions have lots of errors in them. You need to be careful when building them. But they look very good when they are done.

ausf; I'm confused. You said before that we needed to have a "start" photo of the sealed box with something showing the date (like the weather channel) in the background. I was going to order a new kit as the ones I've got have been opened. The bags are still sealed, though. Are we now okay to have an opened box, but sealed bags? Thanks.

Don't know which is the best. I have ordered the late tiger from Hasegawa. They have a late kit with PE zimmerit. I ordered it from greatmodels, at first it was out of stock, but they have just recieved a new shipment.

I saw that kit at my LHS and it had a photo on the front of the box and to me it looked very toylike.

Eric, when FSM did the "Tiger Roundup" article last year, they did a very quick hit on the 1/72 kits. Their feeling was that the Revel/AG Tigers were the best. There was another one that started with an H (not Hasagewa!!) that I haven't been able to find and can't remember the name, that they said was pretty good. But still, they said the new Revell's were the best. I'm not sure if that's the model you're looking for or not. It's boxed as a Tiger E, but I'm not sure if it's a mid or late. Sorry.
I'm still hoping DMLs with the molded zimm will be readilly available by then, or a Trumpeter!!

Well the RevellAG kits aren't shrink wrapped only taped shut. I'm still going to take a pic on top of the paper on the 8th. I think the honor system is in order in terms of building, I'm not breaking any bags or washing the model or anything until that day, It'll be like Xmas.
I don't know if by the date I won't give in to curiosity and take a peak, you know, just to plan the build and all.Wink [;)]

Please don't go out and buy another kit just because of a broken seal, If we can't trust each other, who can we trust. Approve [^]

Thanks, asuf. I totally agree. I might get another one anyway, but that's because I've got two different sets of zimm for the Revell E. I will probably do the H for this build since I don't have to worry about zimm.

I appreciate it.

When I got home from work today there was a package from great models. In it was my 1/72 Tiger I from Hasegawa. The kit have a set of Eduard PE zimmerit included.
From what I can see through the plastic back its a OK kit.

I am ready now. YEAH. Big Smile [:D]

Oh I forgot I still need that new compressor, so im not quite ready yet I guess. Disapprove [V]

no no. You see I bought an extra set. I took some parts from that set and droped it on the floor, some I shot across the room with tweezers and some I have glued to my forehead.

Foul, Thomas!1 Whistle, whistle, red flag on the play, off-sides, buzzer, buzzer!!!!!!

You're not supposed to be starting, yet. You shouldn't be out there pre-staging your PE! You're getting an unfair advantage apeasing the PE gods a month and a half early! NO FAIR!!!!

I bought my Hasegawa Tiger jobby the other day. Looks pretty average; but I intend on doing an average job on it, so who's laughing now? No chance of me jumping the gun, at least, my eyes started to hurt just reading the instructions. I think I am an early tip to turn out the ugliest pile of goo on MTD.

Matt,
sorry, but you may be underestimating the lethal compination of:
a) an old 1/72 Airfix Tiger I kit

b) a short time frame
c) and ME ! Tongue [:P]Big Smile [:D]

the mind reels at the possibilities.
[:0]

my question is:
if "wipw" means "work in progress william", how are you going to pull this off in 24 hours, Bill? Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]
no AM indy links and PE for you!

oh, Ed...leave it to you (or Robert) to drag that back up!! I'll just have to see what happens, I guess! The big problem might wind up being 3 hours of church. But maybe, if I get to all of it, I'll receive the inspiration I need to get it done!! lol

we'll make it, Bill.
(after all, my buddy told me i cannot start any new projects until i finish
the 2 current ones and at least 2 that are 'on hold')

but i am making headway on my two (!!) towed gun builds.

and said,
"hey $4.50 !? perfect. now if i can find some cheap glue to keep my cost down . . ."
Wink [;)]

if you think the box is scary, wait till you see what's IN it !!!
i would post a pic of the sprue(s) but i am 'between cameras'

Ed,
I know all too well what lurks inside that dark box. I posted my thoughts recently about it but can't remember which thread it was part of. It had to do with tongs, my car, my neighbor's garbage can and multiple showers.
Cheap glue? I would try to melt it together with MAPP gas and a torch. Wink [;)]
