Add an M26 Pershing and an Italeri Tiger I to my list.

Finals ended on Thursday, so I thought I should treat myself to the Italeri Tiger 1 kit. BUT that Tiger was a painful build so I finished it as quickly as I could. Yes, it was a little sloppy. The Tiger was so painful that I thought I should treat myself to the Pershing.Evil [}:)]Big Smile [:D] The M26 reminded me why I build models. The Tiger, the Pershing, my FM tracks and some stowage for the M10 should be ready for paint by sunday night.Big Smile [:D]

It looks like, as usual, we're a very diverse group concerning subject matter and scale. It surprised me to see that almost everybody is building more than one subject / vehicle at a time! I thought I was in the minority doing so, but am not! I won't feel so bad about having more than one vehicle on the 'board' at once any more! (Maybe I'll get those Stuarts and M109 series vehicles out this weekend!)

Building a FAUN SLT56 tank transporter buy Trumpeter strate out of the box with some corrections ,and a Tamiya Leopard2a5 with Eduard PE kit . Both projects are going ok I'm almost down with the transporter weathering and final touchups is left . The Leopard tank needs decals and some camo paint corrections and weathering .I'm starting to feel this AZ. weather in my gaurage so work of my builds is really slow until I can fix my swamp cooler .Cool [8D]

That would depend on what the definition of building is. I have a 1/35 M113 A1 started, a quad 50 half track mostly built running around some where and a 1/24 ladder firetruck that just seems to keep giving me more stuff to do to it everytime i look at it. All thoguh I have accomplished nothing in a few weeks now on any of them.

Well, let's see....

Finishing up Italeri's 1/48 Pavehawk, working away on a box of Warhammer orc figures (what a jeezly distraction these are!), just starting (finally) Hasegawa's 1/48 Apache Longbow with a pretty nifty Eduard PE set ( from Squadron- what a great company!).

What I really want to be doing though is Tamiya's ODS Bradley Disapprove [V] . Maybe I can get it this weekend! Tongue [:P] Any comments about this kit?

As soon as I get my shop set back up I will continue work on my Tiger II, JS II, Sherman 105, Dragon Wagon, Famo, Jagdpanther, M12 GMC, and a couple of others... I am really bad about starting projects and getting bored and or side tracked...

Ahhh the life of a modeler...

Nothing...until I get home this summer. Then I have to unpack all my kits (I barely moved into my new house before my unit got deployed) but in progress I have a M2 Brad, half track with quad .50s, Dragon Wagon, M935 (eventual guntruck)...and I think that's all of them...

wipw, thanks for the tips. I wasn't going to do the duckbills, but I might give it a try now. RAF120, I know what you mean. I built a Monogram 1/48 Spitfire I for my son, and it was a shocker. Had I not promised it to him, I would have trashed it!

Lets see,
I'm still working on my Academy M10 and the dio that goes along with it.
I'm finishing up on an old 1/48 Monogram P47D Thunderbolt (I just don't understand how something with so few pieces can be such a pain in the a**)
That just about covers it unless you count the 1/72 B17 I'm helping my son build.
Trevor Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket?

I've got two Panthers in the works, aus A and D (dragon). I'm afraid to say that a Hasegawa 1/48 razorback Jug is the primary right now. Take it easy on me for the winged thing build, but, I started out on AC before becoming a tanker.....

Bill give the soldering a try ! Its really not that bad if you use the flyfishing hacklepliers I was talking about in a previous thread , I want to come up with a pair with a slot so doing 90degree angles is a snap to hold , it shouldn't be that hard to pull off ! Soldering success requires plumbers flux be applied to the parts as if you were cementing them together, clamp it and cut a tiny bit of solder , all you have to do is stick the piece of solder to a clump of flux next to the seam and heat , the solder will flow right in , I use it for all my larger PE to PE joints the bond is almost unbreakable !

Thanks for the encouragement. You know, Royal did an interior for the Elefant. Don't know how much different that was than the Ferdie interior. I haven't seen it available for a while, as far as that goes. It was made for the Italeri kit, but understand it's a drop in for the DML kit.

What book did you order? Does it cover interior on the Elefant too? I'd be interested in getting a copy if they aren't too spendy. Good luck with it. I know it will look fantastic. Your work is always very impressive.

Have a great day.

NOT FUNNY!!!Angry [:(!]

Actually I made them so long ago, that I do not recall how I put those things together. I am actually almost done with this kit, believe it or not. But then I got to thinking (and of course that always gets me into trouble) that I would build a partial interior. It still could go either way with the interior. Now I am just waiting for a book that I ordered before I complete the kit. Good luck with yours.

Thanks, Eric. Now for the killer...How the heck did you build those crescent guys? I bent the curve into the center piece, then super glued it to one side and finally managed to get the second side glued on, but I had a terrible time with it. I may try a bit of soldering on the rest of them. I was using t-pins stuck through a piece of waxpaper to hold the pieces in alignment, but it didn't go too well. It's been so long now that I don't remember exactly how I finally got it done! What fun!! Yours look really nice. Can I just send you my parts and let you do it?? lol

Thanks again.

Bill, just for you I whipped out the digital camera, took a pic, and posted it.Wink [;)] I guarantee with 100% confidence that this is where they go. They are to keep the track from catching the corner of the fender under there.

Spector, I would go with the Aber PE set. I used the Eduard late Tiger set for a build, and it was not good. I think it was one of the first PE sets they made. A lot of the brackets were over sized which made the top deck of the model very cluttered. It was hard at one point to fit everything on. Also, the brackets included for the cable on the side of the hull are for an early Tiger and the fenders were very disappointing as far as detail. I have not used the Royal Models set for the Tiger, but the author of The Modelers Guide to the Tiger Tank swears by their sets. I have only bought one Royal set, and for the price I paid, I was not impressed.

As far as judging PE sets, I have recently started looking up the directions of the Aber and Eduard sets online and comparing them. If the Eduard set has what I am looking for, I get it because they generally are easier to construct. Of course there is no substitute for the Aber tool clamps, so I substitute all the clamps for the Aber ones. I have purchased a couple of the tool clamp PE sets from Aber just for this purpose. Here are the websites just in case you don't have them on your favorites list:Big Smile [:D]

http://www.eduard.cz/

http://www.aber.net.pl/aber_english.html

Oh, and Spector, in December, I should actually have an engineering degree (keeping fingers crossed) but I still don’t think I will be qualified to put the darn things togther. LOL!!
