The more, the merrier!

spector822002, the beauty of doing the E-100 as an operational vehicle is that it is purely speculative! The only historically accurate (or at least, verifiably so) model would be the turretless (and at first, running gear-less) hull sitting in or just outside the workshop after the Allies overran the factory. Those are the only pix I've ever seen of the beast, too.

There was no name designation for the E-100 as far as I know. Again, time for more speculation! "Sabre Tooth Tiger" Would be cool! What was the actual name for that prehistoric cat...Smilodon? Nah, that wouldn't work!
Super Tabby? Hmmm....Wink [;)]

T-God, the colors I used were Tamiya enamel Medium Gray and Tamiya acrylic NATO Black. The weathering and whatnot kinda grayed out the whole thing in the end.

Well spector822002 the KT is already worked into the E's plans, I have 5 KT's altogether and this one was a freebee so no $$ lost and I have a double of it actually triple of it.(The ardennes KT.)

Claymore68 all ideas are welcome the more the marrier. Its when it come to paint it when the problem will unfold.

So a Luffwaffa patteren on a tank? huuuuuuuumumumm

Almost like a past, present, and future group build. (I'm done, you're building, and Bill's gonna build next year!)

What do you think about a "Bismark" kind of camo? You know, sharp, disruptive angles of gray, black, and white. That's what I originally wanted to do with my E, but chickened out and went with the "Urban Ambush." (Which I like, too!)

Looking forward to seeing what you choose!

Dazzle camo on a tank, sounds cool...or maybe a splinter scheme...or WWI lozenge...
Am I helping or should I shut-up? Big Smile [:D]

JHulk: did they have a name designation for this tank ? IE panther , Tiger , Maus etc ? Mouse ? for the biggest tank yet , now thats funny , even Hitler had a sense of humor at times, ( though it seems not very often !) They were runnig out of the big cats names , perhaps the sabre tooth tiger !? Now that was one big mean a!@ Cat ! Cool [8D] Just an idea Cool [8D]

I don't think I would sacrifice your KT kit for that E-100 thunder ,... you have to remember this was only a prototype tank , I don't even think any turrets were completed by wars end ! Most of the E-100 info is purley speculative , I have only seen pix of almost completed hulls . Do that KT justice and build it as well Cool [8D]

Well I just got my hands on another turret today so I think I am gonna go with the panzer1 turret on this one, finished k
cutting out the driver hatch from both the E and KT, The E is a hair bigger for some reason I cut it perfect (it did measure the same as the KT) Got 2 of the 128 ordered today from aberand the PE 4 the Maus. Also found out they rereleased the Jagdtiger and E-100!!Swwweeeeet!!

Owell alittle putty will do the trick.I gotta decide on the paint scheme. I like the greys and the standard 3 tone in ambush. I dont have any pnz greytanks built up as of yetbut dont wanna copy yours thought it will look different. I will try to get some pics up of it soon. Looks likethis is turning out to be the E-100 chat room for the 2 of us.OOOPS and Bill

Funny what I did was put a jagdpanther barrel on the end of the kit barrel and boy it was long. Looked awesome but not quit a 128mm ya know. So I cut it down and anded the other half for the 75mm. looks like it will work, So far I am getting parts from A tamiya KT, Panther steel wheeled for the night vision, DML jagdpanther , and get this ...a F117 stealth bomber for the periscope lenses. Man thse dragon dml kits I love all the extras they have. I will post some pics soon the cam is being borrowed at the monent. Oh ya I put a Panzer 1 turret on top.....looked pretty cool but not gonna keep it there alittle unrealalistic.

The 75mm barrel on my E is a Fine Molds brass barrel for the "Hetzer" tank destroyer.
I think it was Fine Molds...I chucked the package it came in!!

Jordi Rubio or Eduard probably have several types of 75mm barrels for sale.
The barrel I used is substantially longer than the kit barrel, but I liked it that way.

By the way, the 128mm barrel on my E is the plastic one from the Maus kit.
Initially, I had planned to use a metal barrel, but that would have required some precision, large-scale drilling of the Mori Artisan resin mantlet, which I didn't feel like doing at the time.
Aside from the lack of rifling in the tube, the Maus' 128mm barrel is fine!

The two hooded, round covers on the turret are antenna mounts from Dragon Jagdtiger kits. The two covers on the hull are from the Tamiya Tiger II kit, as are all the actual scopes under the covers.
The travel lock is also from the Dragon Jagdtiger kit.

By the way, I'm not rich enough to cannibalize parts like that from those expensive kits!
I am, however, lucky enough to have an LHS that has a big "used sprues bin," and it's always loaded with goodies like that! And at about 45 cents a sprue, the kitbashing is very economical!
Well, I did buy one Tamiya Tiger II (Henschel) to use as a hangar queen, but it's feeding two projects! (The completed E-100 and Bovington's Tiger II)

The article I have includes a two page colour spread on possible Panzers. Whilst it isn't all concerned with the E-100, you still may get something out of it. I have always wanted to build one of the pictures, so I hope I don't get too distracted when I dig it out for you.....

Let your imagination run wild on this one Ron. It isn't as if there were actually any rolling around, and they didn't even get the turret on the prototype, if I remember rightly. Raid that King Tiger and have a bunch of fun. J-hulk's and others should give you plenty of inspiration to build your own vision. I had a brief article on what if German armour that might give you a few more ideas. I will dig it up. Have you got any spare night sights? I bet they would have used 'em.

Wow, you are obviously going way over my head on this build. I'm afraid mine's going to be pretty much oob, with the exception of the mantlet and maybe a few PE and detail swaps from the kits you were talking about. But don't think I'll do much cutting and pasting!

Great Models site is www.greatmodels.com

Have a great day.

Wow looking at Mr. Blackwells closer he did some major surgery, looks as if he took the whole driver hatch section out and replaced it with a KT's. Looks like one of my ardennes KT's are going to become scrap for this monster, it was a freebee so no Lose ...just dont like to kill a 50 kit, but it will not die in vein.

I haven't started mine yet. I'm further behind than you can imagine!!! Thanks for the word on the figure set. I'll see if GM has it in stock! For a fire extinguisher, try the Tamiya Pz IV On Vehicle set. Lots of cool stuff in there that will work with more than just a IV, including one or two extinguishers. They aren't too expensive, if you can find them.

Thanks, again.

Well, Brian, you da man when it comes to the E!! I'll be in my room for a while. Let me know when I can come out! lol Actually, I'm leaving for a conference in St Louis tomorrow morning and won't be back until late Saturday. Not too happy about the scheduling of the return flight! So I might as well be in my room as far as the forum goes!

Ron; Won't you then be short parts for your KT's?? And, please refresh my memory about which figure set it is that has the hatch in it. I'm probably going to place an order with Great Models today and would like to order that in with it. Thanks.

Bill, you're grounded! (Heh heh!)

Yup, I used a Mori Mantlet on my E. Very nice piece o' resin.

My E-100 kit AND Maus kits both came with TWO sets of Maus decals! Go figure...I just used Eduard masks and airbrushed the simple numbers on my E.

Those Dragons kits are very nice. I'm thinking of making a Mini-E to go with my big E!

T-God, sounds like you've got the resources assembled! You can use all the tools from one of your Tiger II kits as well. Lots of goodies there!
Again, good luck, and keep us posted!

Nope, Brian, not yet. I hate to admit it, at least to you!!, but the E is way down on the to build list. Sorry, you'll have to ground me, I guess!

Ron;

The resin mantlet (which Brian used, I believe) can be had from Mission Models. I don't know of anyone else that has them, but there probably are some. MM is the Stateside importers. The Eduard PE has been available from Great Models, but I'm not sure it's in stock at the moment. (Sorry I got the turret/hull thing backwards.) JR barrels are carried by Great Models, Mission Models, Internet Models, and many more of the on-line compainies. Also, in my kit, I got decals for the Maus. I don't know that it matters much. Not sure what the markings were (or were supposed to be, is more appropriate). It's possible that DML just decided to put the Maus set in both kits as standard practice. Make sure you check out the new DML 1/144 E-100 and Maus kits! They are pretty cool.

Have a good day!
