so you applied the dry transfer like a decal, extra care of course since the film is a lot thinner.
Was it hard to do? Did any transfer film rip on you?

It sounds like very delicate work, and you did an excellent job. I'm amazed how nicely they turned out, brilliant, man!

Wow, that is just amazing. The zim is very convincing and the weathering is just superb.

Excellent job! I can't believe that you haven't done 'many' figures for the results of that one? I've done more than a 'few' and they all still look oh so crude compared to yours.Sigh [sigh]

Thanks for sharing, I've enjoyed the opportunity to see your work!Thumbs Up [tup]

rios, I kinda went with a "self invented" approach when applying the dry transfers. I found out that it didn't take much of "a rub" to get them loose from the protective paper.

So what I did was just to burnish a small corner of the transfer onto the figure.
Then I peeled of the protective paper, positioned the transfer exaxtly where I wanted it. Then I kinda "tap" burnished very carefully with a blunt end of a paint brush just to get it to stick a bit.
Then I used a somewhat liberal amount of Micro Set on the transfer and left it to dry for about 5 minutes, and applied another round of Micro Set.
Left them to dry overnight, and, voilá, the result came out as in the pics.

Hope this explained my approach to sticking the transfers to the figure. Smile [:)]

Looks good, stampede! The figure caps it all off just perfectly! Nice collar tabs there--either you're the best detail painter in the world, or they're decals, right? LOL! Just keep practicing with figure painting, and you'll improve on every one! This one looks fine to me!

This is a really tremendous looking StuG, stampede, a real work to be proud of!

Thanx doog, appreciate the comments!
I'm happy with the collar tabs, those are Archer Dry Transfers, so I'm not the best detail painter in the world! Wink [;)]

Thanx again, to be honest I'm kinda proud too! Blush [:I]

Tigerman: Thank you very much! It's been an enjoyable ride building this one too, and I've really apprecaited all the positive comments on my build from you guys.

Glad you liked the dusty weathering on the lower hull. I was a bit unsure of it myself in the beginning, but it kinda grew on me. Thanx for the cudos on the fig too, appreciated.
I wasn't aware of the schurzen being only 5 mm thick, so I guess I'll just hook the rear right one off before the contest I'm attending this weekend. Thanx for pointing this out to me. Smile [:)]

White_R34: Thanx for the kind words!

Dre: Thanx! He he...I agree that the fig does look a little cockey. Glad you liked my build.

RBaer: Thank you very much! I'm quite satisfied with the figure since it being my first try with figure painting. And, yes I think he looks like he belongs there too.

That is a great job and the figure seems to exude a "Yeah, we bad" uber-confident attitude.

Well done, very well done.

Really enjoyed the ride on this one. Turned out very well. I really admire the dusty look on the lower half. Great job on the fig, Archers or not. One critique though, is the bent schurzen on the right side rear. These were only 5mm thick and would have torn off as they were loosely hung and designed to fall off when entangled. That aside, very cool StuG.

Thanx a lot doog, this sure means a lot coming from you who's work I admire.
And thanx for the good norwegian modellers comment, I'm flattered. Bow [bow]

Here's some final pics of the StuG with the figure included. Since this is my first figure painted it think it came out pretty ok.

Comments and critics to my build and figure painting are welcome, I'm still learning, thanx. Smile [:)]

Hmmm....maybe too many pics! Wink [;)]

Luftwoller: Thank you for the kind words! Glad you liked my model and my work.

Manny: Thank you very much, glad you liked the final result. Yes, it's marked as a vehicle from the 17 SS Panzer Grenadierdivision "Götz von Berlichingen" I recon in France late 1944.

I'm hoping to get a prize, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high cause the armor modelers here in Norway are very good.

I'll post some 100% finished pics with the figure later.

Nice finish on this...you should pull down a prize IMO...looks like you marked her to be a vehicle from 17th SS Division, which would be correct since they had a battalion of these bad-boys...nice work...

Well, I'm considering myself finished with this one now up to 99,8%.
Just need to take care of a couple of small things like the lens in the Bosch light and get the figure painted and ready.

I'm working on the figure right now to get it ready for my first contest next weekend with an armor model, I'm really looking forward to that.

Any comments, critics and changes I should do before next weekend is welcome. I think this has been a fun project as a first armor build, and I appreciate the cudos and positive feedback from you guys here in the dark zone.

Anyways, here goes...

Some detail shots...

That's it, I'll post some pics of the model with the figure when I get it done and are satisfied with it. Hope I can pull it off cause it's gonna be my first attempt at figure painting also. Shy [8)]

Tjaba Stampe,

I can see that you did choose to replace the Tow Cables and I thin kyou did right.
Not only for the twist but also with the finer wire you are now using it looks very good.

Whats your experience on the Doogs dot technique?

I very much look forward to your next update.

Got started with some washing and weathering this weekend.
Tried to follow Doogs weathering tut with some, I guess personal "twists".
Here are some pics of the "dots" after I washed the model a couple of times with a raw umber wash.

After the "dots"...

Made a new tow cable too.
Used some speaker wire that I twisted with the pin vise.
I used some lead foil on the ends and insdie the loop. Then I slapped on some paint and wash. I think they turned out pretty good.

I recon the next step will be a pin wash and another Doog trick with the tan wash to simulate a dust coat.

Comments are welcome, cause I'm still learning... Smile [:)]

But it's just inspiring me to continue the road I'm going down with this build.

Thanx!
