OK well....remember what I said in the first post about "before I ruin it..."???
Oh, you guys are gonna hate me......
JUST KIDDING!
Actually though, it is undergoing an extensive "refitting". I started looking at it and thinking, "Hmmm.....you know it looks kinda bare...how's the TC gonna see? What if they break a track? WHere's the spare links?"
And so I started looking around for ideas for turning the E-100 into more of a realistically-modified tank, to portray it as I feel it would look after actually entering production.
SO.....I added a few things........A cupola was added from the SP bin. Lifting hooks were placed on the top of the turret. The weird rear hatch was modded to look more like the Maus's (that's not finished yet...) The sides were given spare links holders (I' can't remember where they came from--if I had to guess, I'd say an old Nichimo kit? (SAVE EVERYTHING!!! ) I also added persicope covers....I added some batle damage in the way of shell hits/deflected shots...what else....grab handles on the turret and hatches, a more realistic tool arrangemnet, and a gun cleaning rod case on the rear, ala' the Panther G. And an antenna mount...Here's the pics...the tools aren't finished/glued on yet, so they may not look properly attached.
So, I'll have to do a repainting when I'm finished. Luckily, I was only 50% finished with the coat anyway. Still, it's gonna be a tedious process..but she's worth it
wing_nut---"Preshading"'s not the ONLY thing that "treadies" do that you "airheads" () don't know about! (Stick around and you'll learn more of our secrets! )
panzerguy and ps1sc---no, there's no mistake on the waffenfarbe--it's pink! I admittedly like mine a touch "pinker" than "rose", as I feel that the actual "rose" color is just a tad too close to looking "red" in this scale.
smjmodeler (STEVE!!! LOL! )---I want to do this as a somewhat hypothetical scheme of red primer with panzer gray and a little bit of thinned Dark Yellow. I hadn't added the DY in the previous photos or even yet--I will after I'm happpy with the construction. I also might add s little bit of "ambush" scheme to it in the same colors.I'm kinda going for a more "advanced" build of my little 1/72 E-100, which I was really happy with, as far as the camo goes...I wanted to try a bit of new technique on this that I got from the Armorama site and recent feature. It's pretty cool, and gave me some ideas.
I will probably do another one of these, perhaps tyhe Trumpeter E-100 ausf B offering, in standard 3-color scheme...I like the possibility of doing something "weird" there too though..
Well. back to the bench in a few minutes or so here...I gotta get on the other side's spare track mounts--ugh. Lots of measuring and pencil marks....tedious......let me know what you think so far, though!?
