Thanks Pawel !     Here is some more today : The kit foot controls are barely detailed. I will use the rear brake master cylinder and fabbed a new lever and foot peg. The lever is p/e runner with pins soldered on for the pedal. The foot peg is plastic tube with a pin in it.  The gear shift lever is of the same design , reversed on the engine as this seems better than a linkage just to reverse it. Took a coupla hours and no money so a good one and better detail in these areas.

Hey Steve!

No way I could miss something like that! Now the kit bike seems boring to me, your take on it will surely be a lot more interesting. That's a lot of goodies you got there - nothing like a well stocked workshop! So from now on I'll be watching, good luck with your build and have a nice day

Continuing on here with detail addition of the scratchbuilt kind ,adding to the kit parts. The brakes are one dimensional so I added the rear part of the caliper and thinned the rotors to .035" from .055" .Much better scale appearance,I was gonna drill 'em but don't wanna push it too much.Calipers are drilled for lines as well. Battery box and oil tank backing on and holes drilled for mounting ,oil lines and battery hold-down. Oil tank cap from a Jap 1/72 tank idler and here is the nitrous bottle with a valve handle now ,also from the tank.

Tryin' for primer tomorrow.

Some more work on the handlebars .Looking closely the details are soft so I drilled off the air valves on top for amarket ones , drilled the clamp bolt off the middle and scribed in the gap. I drilled for the nitrous button and wiring in the right bar ,also a throttle cable hole , and wiring hole drilled in the left bar.

Scribed in lever detail and cut off the stupid balls on the ends of the levers added the hydraulic clutch master cylinder with bottoms for this and the brake master cylinder.

Quite a bit of work on a piece this small , brought about by looking at the amarket stuff next to the barely usable kit stuff , the contrast begged the need for the scribing etc done. Gettin' interested in this a little more..........................

Trey -Thanks - Goin' a little slowly ,cant get into modeling all the time .Did a little work on the parts -fixed the fairing in mutant fashion with a patch that will be bolted or riveted on. Also frame work ,you will see the nitrous solenoids mounted , a front engine guard in the best of mutant fabrication techniques, and a new location for the guages. There is also evidence of tab/mount removal on the frame .Also a front mount on the tank .

I also stated no aftermarket on here , I lied. The parts available are very good and add a lot of detail and open doors for more detail. I ordered from Hiro boy and got some on ebay as well .There is enough here for a dozen bikes, approx.  $150.00 worth.

Hose connectors , electrical connectors , a chain kit , throttle cable mounts , hose kits , valves ,shift linkages , an a whole lotta bolts and nuts and clamps etc........!!

Some more progress , gettin' a little impatient with the fairing breaking alla time. Turbo mount worked out , carbs with plenum attached, doubly skewered with brass rod  , air cleaner and air feed tube from left to right. Tach drive off intake camshaft . Oil filter mounted. And a throttle cable mount on the top of the engine.

Here is the fairing with  cut down windshield ,mutant style...

I know my ole eyes are tired, but from the photos I have seen, my vote goes to a KZ1000, besides, in the day, this was the fastest bike one could straddle and fill their need for speed, turbo charged or not.  Many a day @ local Drag Strip watching one of these burning the pavement up w/one of these monsters.

S2U There are a number of different bikes in the movies , I dunno about Kawasaki's supply of bikes...

There is a Superglide in one shot but you can see its a privately owned bike as it is not all mutated.

Thanks for the comps and keep watchin!

When watching the special features on the Mad Max re-release it was mentioned that Kawasaki sponsored the bikes used by the gang in that episode. Not sure what made it into the second movie though?Confused

But what is certain is the progress on your bike!

Coming along great!

You can always spot a good modeler who is very proficient with reference materials or personal experience. I'd wager you're both.Toast

Wway -Thanks- anyone else have any info on the bike in question? I was always of the opinion it was a KZ1000-900 .With a Rajay turbocharger. I would have thought the bike would be well documented .Anyway its not real relevant to this build which, if you are not clued in yet, is totally spurious.

WWay- thanks keep watchin' and post more pix of the bike shown if poss.

Not much out there actually.

Depending on who you listen to, it was either a Kawasaki Z900/Z1000 or a Suzuki GSX1100

I see a lot of crafty crafting, um that was almost redundant?

BUT, I really got a kick from the tucked away nitrous bottle.

Great stuff.Cool

Here are the pipes ,swept back and gathered at the left side ,I will transition to a flange into the turbo.

Pipes are 1/8" aluminum welding rod.

Starting the madness here with a thoroughly spurious magneto attachment ala Vertex...

I do need pix of a Jappo inline 4 turbo charger installation if any one has any , that will be the next addition...

1/12 MUTANT HONDA: DONE ,SECOND OF 2011
Posted by krow113 on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 4:11 PM

1/12 Tamiya Honda Endurance racer . The best kit I could find to do a MadMax style ,post-apocalyptic mutant ridden cycle.

No aftermarket ,no resin , no p/e . This lacking will be made up for in scratch details and weathering.

This will be a quick one with some weapons attachments and the rough ,dusty finish of the bikes in the film series , it will be beat to s#$t and very well used.

Sprues soaked and washed.

There are shots of a Superglide in the movies but I cant do this to a Harley!
