I'm a Lakewood boy, grew up there from '53 to '71, remember hearing the drag racers at Lions from my bedroom window on Sat. nights. My big bro inherited the family '52 Chev, lowered it and use to cruize Bellflower and Whittier Blvd (Harvey's Broiler). George Barris, Larry Watson, Ed Roth, Mickey Thompson, Tony Nancy, Tommy Ivo, Don Prudommne, Tom McEwen....amazing how many "show & go" pioneers started out on our childhood streets and strips. First cars for me were both shoebox Chevies, a '56 210 for $450 and later a '55 Bel Air for $265.....those were some good old times that we were both lucky to pass our childhood years thru!
