Honestly speaking in general terms for marketing here. WHY don't the model kit manufacturers make more GA and civilian aircraft then they do??????????????????????? I mean, how many people know, or are aquainted with people that either have taken their first flight, have flown in with fond memories, or OWN these aircraft!!!!!!!!!!??????????????? There is a potential GOLD MINE for kit manufacturers to capitalise on this!!!!!!!! YET very few kits exist of especially GA aircraft!!!!! Airliners aren't so rare, but GA has been highly neglected. If I may start something here, PLEASE drop a line to the manufactureers and see what their replies are. My very first ever plane ride was in a Piper Cherokee Archer III owned by the am radio station in Sacramento, CA. Do any kits exist of this plane??? NO!!!!!!!!! Just imagine the boom in business for these types; ie decals, PE, resin, custom decals especially. With the young eagles program that was happening, how many kids would get into th ehobby by building a model of the plane they took their first flight in??????? Do just this, JUST IMAGINE the potential!!!!!!!SoapBox [soapbox]My 2 cents [2c]

Totally agree!

The stuffed-shirts proclaim that military subjects are all that will sell; that may very well be because they're all that's on the shelves.... duuuuhhhh!     Most current and past military pilots first consummated their love affair with flight in a General Aviation aircraft, and ALL non-military pilots did, so what exactly is the logic here?     A great percentage of the modeling market potential is being ignored!

Sadly, the same military only mindset can be readily observed in the mainstream general modeling publications, which devote at least 99% of their content to the subject, and civil/general aviation material appears only when there happens to be space available.

Even with Zvezdas recent offering?!?  The 752 is covered very well also in multi media with kits from Contrails, AA and Welsh.  Also there is another multi media kit due out soon.  Its a Russian company the name escapes me I could dig it up if you want.

I would like to see Lockheed Sirius, Orion and Vega models in 1/48 or 1/32 scales. How about some of the Curtiss, Boeing  or Stinson civil AC?

My "wants" are already mentioned, so I will add to the vote for a:

1/48 Ford Tri-Motor  /  Bushmaster modified

1/48 Grumman Ag-Cat

1/72 (or bigger) Boeing 377 Stratocruiser

What I want is a 1:72 Ford trimotor (not 1:77 or whatever that is).  Also, how about a 1:72 DC-3 that isn't a converted C-47.

How about a couple of Stinsons, the Model A and the Model T (both trimotors).  Those are really neat planes, especially in the dark blue AA livery.

I would like to see any of the Rutan canards.  I would really like to see a Cozy Mk III 'cause that's what I fly.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

I am just starting the Lindberg L-T.  It will take some mods, but should end up okay. I bought an Engines and Things resin Wasp, and will make considerable changes to interior.  The kit seat is just completely wrong.

I would love to see a really good early DC-9 and 727 in 1/72 scale, as well as a Convair 880/990 and an early (short) DC-8.  These would be large models, of course, but I'd love to see them just the same.

I know Aurora had made a 1/72 DC-9 back in the '70s in Hughes Airwest colors, 'The Flying Bananas'. My brother had one. If I'm not mistaken they also made a 727 but can't remembr what scale it was. Be willing to bet it would have been 1/72. Monogram had a 1/72 737-200 in United rainbow colors at one time as well. Wish someone would bring these back!!!!!

a Full spread of Cessna's would be cool, from a 150 all the way up to a 208, maybe in 1/32 or 1/24, 1/48 would be nice for those with small amounts of space. others that would be cool would be a beechcraft king air or even a beech starship, maybe even a full range of Rutan's

I'm with ya' on the early DC-9!  what a cool, different design they came up with.

It's to bad kit manufactures don't want to make the commitment to larger scale civi aircraft.

A little push seen in the PA-Cub in ROG and ther reissue of the Hasagawa stuff(some of that Lear And Falcon is ex. MPC?)

Come on Now! lol, even some 1/35 military brass arse wagons wouldn't be asking toooo much?Big Smile [:D]

Thanks

Just build it (and post pics when youre done)

Yeah, but in 1/72 scale with the same quality as Roden and Eduard's WWI planes. Take a look at this photo gallery of Roden's 1/72 Bristol F2.b Fighter. Look and the engine detail! You can't see it, but the interior looks just as good.

Some firm needs to make a Cessna 172 (for example) with that same level of detail. The Arii Cessnas don't look bad, but they aren't up to the same standards as the latest stuff from Roden or Eduard.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] In general there justneeds to be a LARGER availability of GA aircraft in all scales!!!!!!!! I for one would grab them up as they hit the shelves!!!!! I build manly in 1/72, and with modern manufacturing techniques there shouldn't be any excuses for firms to produces high quality modern toled GA aircraft!!!!!! It is just sick that the most available marks are military!!! as mentioned before  some say 'That's what sells'. Well when that is the only thing available....... HELLO!!!!!SoapBox [soapbox]  GA was here before the military!!!!!!!! Thanks Orville, Wilbur, and Glen!!!!!!! I would love to do a whole diorama to scale of a small country airport in 1/72 with the apprpriate aircraft on the tarmac!!!!! Think of the possibilities people!!!!! Even model your airport next door!!!!!!! Email manufacturers and email that the issue be researched!!!!!! The aftermarket firms will follow suit guarunteed, decals, PE, resin, It would be a boom to the industry and Hobby!!!!!!!!!

1/72: Any of the Boeing jetliners, any of the Clipper flying boats

A company called Nichimo (or something like that) actually produced a 1/20th scale Cessna 172 kit a number of years ago. Yes, I said ONE-TWENTIETH scale! I have one at home, but the darn thing's worth so much as a collectible, I can't afford to build it! You wouldn't believe the engine detail. Every single cylinder fin is a seperate photetched piece! Sure would be nice to see this one re-issued....

Well, you CAN have a giant scale Cessna for your very own. The last time I checked the Oldmodelkits.com website, he had one for sale. All you have to do is come up with the $350.00+ asking price and you're on your way! Then try'n relax and enjoy building something that instantly plummets in value the second you open the box or cut a part off the sprue! Believe me, I've spent many an hour just staring at all the parts, imagining what the reaction would be to seeing one of these things finished on a display table. 'Even thought about using the engine, wings, and elevators to do a semi-scratchbuilt Cessna Ag-Truck! (Did I just hear about a thousand collectors fall out of their chairs?) Truth is, I'll probably just continue staring at the parts for another ten years and then sell it to a collector to help pay off my house! (lol)
