I'd like to see some 1/48 corporate planes. A Falcon 20 and King Air 200 would probably sell well, since they both have military applications, too.

We also need a good F2H-2 Banshee, F9F Cougar, and F11F Tiger in 1/48.

In 1/144, I'm amazed that nobody has released a B-52D. That's the perfect scale for the Buff.

Ben

I forget the brand, but J-Bar hobbies carries it,  that has a line of business twins. I do not remember for sure about the King Air, but they seem to have about every Piper and Cessna twin.

The Testors Lear Jet is not a bad kit.

This thread has reminded me that I have been meaning to ask, are there any kits currently available for the Stinson Reliant?  I have a photo of a Reliant in American Airlines marking that would make a very neat kit.  I assume I might be able to hash up decals from another AA subject, or else do inkjet ones.

I am going to agree with 2 previously mentioned aricraft.  The 1/72 Connie... that's one fine lookin' airplane... and the a 1/32 Luscombe 8, A or E.

Like Piccard would say..."Make it so!"

Guys,

If you are serious about what new kits you'd like to see keep an eye out for the May issue of FSM. We're conducting a "Most wanted kit" survey starting with that issue. Instructions for how do vote will be published there.

Cheers, Aaron

I'd buy a 1/48 Connie in any markings!  Now if they would only make that and a 1/48 Boeing 307 as well and I'd be all set!

TWA is the only way to go with a Connie, though one in 1/48 would be cool.

A 1/48 scale Lancastrian would be nice, as would a 1/48 scale Connie (QANTAS markings), and a large scale DH 89/90 (London to Sydney in 9 1/2 days was BOAC's boast)

The Statoliner and the Clipper both were trailblazers in civil aviation (although the 314 Clipper could also be called a kind of swansong of the big flying boats) and quite beautiful aircraft. I would definitely vote for good quality 1:72 scale injection-moulded kits of these two aircraft.

There were also two - admittedly not quite so beautful - but historically (for their own national carriers, respectively Imperial Airways and KLM) quite important airliners from Europe in the thirties: the Handley Page HP 42 Heracles (in Great Britain) and the Fokker F XVIII trimotor (in the Netherlands). My dream als a modeller is to build those two aircraft as 1:72 scale injection-moulded kits.
There is only an old vacform by Contrail of the Handley Page and no kit whatsoever of the Fokker. If only Airfix were willing to enlarge their old 1:144 scale HP 42.........

yeager

It sure does seem like a slam dunk for manufacturers to do GA aircraft models, but who knows how those great minds work??

As with the military and most companies, common sense and logic will not be tolerated.Smile

Well, you CAN have a giant scale Cessna for your very own. The last time I checked the Oldmodelkits.com website, he had one for sale. All you have to do is come up with the $350.00+ asking price and you're on your way! Then try'n relax and enjoy building something that instantly plummets in value the second you open the box or cut a part off the sprue! Believe me, I've spent many an hour just staring at all the parts, imagining what the reaction would be to seeing one of these things finished on a display table. 'Even thought about using the engine, wings, and elevators to do a semi-scratchbuilt Cessna Ag-Truck! (Did I just hear about a thousand collectors fall out of their chairs?) Truth is, I'll probably just continue staring at the parts for another ten years and then sell it to a collector to help pay off my house! (lol)

A company called Nichimo (or something like that) actually produced a 1/20th scale Cessna 172 kit a number of years ago. Yes, I said ONE-TWENTIETH scale! I have one at home, but the darn thing's worth so much as a collectible, I can't afford to build it! You wouldn't believe the engine detail. Every single cylinder fin is a seperate photetched piece! Sure would be nice to see this one re-issued....

ditto on the Piper cub in 1/24, park it next to a 1940 stake bed ford pickup. another would be the new 737-800/900 in 1/72, mainly so i can convert one into a P-8A PoseidonBig Smile

Some of the ones I want are already mentioned, so I'll just mention them again with a few additional ones.

1/48:

  • Ford Tri-Motor
  • Boeing 307 Stratoliner
  • Piper Arrow
  • DC-4 or any in that series
  • Connie

1/72: Any of the Boeing jetliners, any of the Clipper flying boats

1/24: Piper Cub, the original not the super cub, and the Piper Arrow

Yeah, but in 1/72 scale with the same quality as Roden and Eduard's WWI planes. Take a look at this photo gallery of Roden's 1/72 Bristol F2.b Fighter. Look and the engine detail! You can't see it, but the interior looks just as good.

Some firm needs to make a Cessna 172 (for example) with that same level of detail. The Arii Cessnas don't look bad, but they aren't up to the same standards as the latest stuff from Roden or Eduard.

Regards,

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] In general there justneeds to be a LARGER availability of GA aircraft in all scales!!!!!!!! I for one would grab them up as they hit the shelves!!!!! I build manly in 1/72, and with modern manufacturing techniques there shouldn't be any excuses for firms to produces high quality modern toled GA aircraft!!!!!! It is just sick that the most available marks are military!!! as mentioned before  some say 'That's what sells'. Well when that is the only thing available....... HELLO!!!!!SoapBox [soapbox]  GA was here before the military!!!!!!!! Thanks Orville, Wilbur, and Glen!!!!!!! I would love to do a whole diorama to scale of a small country airport in 1/72 with the apprpriate aircraft on the tarmac!!!!! Think of the possibilities people!!!!! Even model your airport next door!!!!!!! Email manufacturers and email that the issue be researched!!!!!! The aftermarket firms will follow suit guarunteed, decals, PE, resin, It would be a boom to the industry and Hobby!!!!!!!!!
