I'm with ya' on the early DC-9!  what a cool, different design they came up with.

It's to bad kit manufactures don't want to make the commitment to larger scale civi aircraft.

A little push seen in the PA-Cub in ROG and ther reissue of the Hasagawa stuff(some of that Lear And Falcon is ex. MPC?)

Come on Now! lol, even some 1/35 military brass arse wagons wouldn't be asking toooo much?Big Smile [:D]

Thanks

Just build it (and post pics when youre done)

a Full spread of Cessna's would be cool, from a 150 all the way up to a 208, maybe in 1/32 or 1/24, 1/48 would be nice for those with small amounts of space. others that would be cool would be a beechcraft king air or even a beech starship, maybe even a full range of Rutan's

I know Aurora had made a 1/72 DC-9 back in the '70s in Hughes Airwest colors, 'The Flying Bananas'. My brother had one. If I'm not mistaken they also made a 727 but can't remembr what scale it was. Be willing to bet it would have been 1/72. Monogram had a 1/72 737-200 in United rainbow colors at one time as well. Wish someone would bring these back!!!!!

I am just starting the Lindberg L-T.  It will take some mods, but should end up okay. I bought an Engines and Things resin Wasp, and will make considerable changes to interior.  The kit seat is just completely wrong.

I would like to see any of the Rutan canards.  I would really like to see a Cozy Mk III 'cause that's what I fly.

How about a couple of Stinsons, the Model A and the Model T (both trimotors).  Those are really neat planes, especially in the dark blue AA livery.

What I want is a 1:72 Ford trimotor (not 1:77 or whatever that is).  Also, how about a 1:72 DC-3 that isn't a converted C-47.

My "wants" are already mentioned, so I will add to the vote for a:

1/48 Ford Tri-Motor  /  Bushmaster modified

1/48 Grumman Ag-Cat

1/72 (or bigger) Boeing 377 Stratocruiser

I would like to see Lockheed Sirius, Orion and Vega models in 1/48 or 1/32 scales. How about some of the Curtiss, Boeing  or Stinson civil AC?

Even with Zvezdas recent offering?!?  The 752 is covered very well also in multi media with kits from Contrails, AA and Welsh.  Also there is another multi media kit due out soon.  Its a Russian company the name escapes me I could dig it up if you want.

Totally agree!

The stuffed-shirts proclaim that military subjects are all that will sell; that may very well be because they're all that's on the shelves.... duuuuhhhh!     Most current and past military pilots first consummated their love affair with flight in a General Aviation aircraft, and ALL non-military pilots did, so what exactly is the logic here?     A great percentage of the modeling market potential is being ignored!

Sadly, the same military only mindset can be readily observed in the mainstream general modeling publications, which devote at least 99% of their content to the subject, and civil/general aviation material appears only when there happens to be space available.

Honestly speaking in general terms for marketing here. WHY don't the model kit manufacturers make more GA and civilian aircraft then they do??????????????????????? I mean, how many people know, or are aquainted with people that either have taken their first flight, have flown in with fond memories, or OWN these aircraft!!!!!!!!!!??????????????? There is a potential GOLD MINE for kit manufacturers to capitalise on this!!!!!!!! YET very few kits exist of especially GA aircraft!!!!! Airliners aren't so rare, but GA has been highly neglected. If I may start something here, PLEASE drop a line to the manufactureers and see what their replies are. My very first ever plane ride was in a Piper Cherokee Archer III owned by the am radio station in Sacramento, CA. Do any kits exist of this plane??? NO!!!!!!!!! Just imagine the boom in business for these types; ie decals, PE, resin, custom decals especially. With the young eagles program that was happening, how many kids would get into th ehobby by building a model of the plane they took their first flight in??????? Do just this, JUST IMAGINE the potential!!!!!!!SoapBox [soapbox]My 2 cents [2c]

I tend to prefer 1/72 scale, and I would love to see some civil aircraft made to the same level of detail as Roden's or Eduard's WWI and WWII aircraft. Naturally some Cessna and Piper single engine aircraft would be great, but I'd also like to see some of the other classic high wing monoplanes like those form Luscomb and Aeronca. I'd also love to see some of the new GA planes like those Cirrus and Diamond. Naturally, these models should have detailed engines and interiors with the option of good PE sets for some of the details.

Cessna's 182, 185, 206U, Caravan

Twin Otter 300

Shorts Skyvan

King Air

Casa

Well, for me a short list (all in 1/48 please):

King Air

Twin Otter

Beech 18

Cessna 310

Piper Navajo

Cessna 195

I've got LOTS more, but I'll leave it a that for now. I'd love to see things like a DC-4 or DC-7, or even a B.737 in 1/48, but the condition of my wallet and space needed would put those out of reach.

'Would love to see a series of Golden Era classics in 1/32 scale, like the Beech Staggerwing, Spartan Executive, Stinson Reliant, etc... Any type of vintage or modern ag-plane (Piper Pawnee, Cessna Ag Truck, Grumman Ag Cat, Rockwell Thrush, Air Tractor, etc.) would be great as well, but I'm not holding my breath... Talk about a "nitch" market... 'Be nice to see a large scale Cessna 172. It's been the best selling light aircraft for decades, but the 1/48 offerings are just too tediously small...

In 1/72 it's real easy:

Brooklands/Edgely Optica

Piaggio P.180 Avanti

Handley Page/BAe Jetstream series

DeHavilland Canada DHC-7 "Dash 7" and DHC-8 "Dash 8"

I know the Optica and Avanti have been out there in resin and I don't expect the Optica to ever be available in any other medium despite recent attempts to revive production of the type. I would have though that Italeri or Revell Germany would have furnished us with an injection molded Avanti by now though.

Airfix hada couple of militarized Jetsteam kits in 1/72 years ago so it would be nice to see them revisit the type with today's tooling technology.

I once tried to build Hobbycraft's 1/72 Dash 8, but I'll be happy if I never see that kit again.

I grew up watching Dash 7, Dash 8 and Jetstream 31  types coming and going from my hometown's municipal airport and would lave to have good representations of them in 1/72

In 1/144:

A really good long pod 737-200 would be great. It's another type I saw a lot of growing up. if it could come with a Canadian specific decal sheet with Pacific Western, CP Air and Canadian Airlines marking options, so much the better. I still maintain the white over polished metal scheme with two tone blue trim of Pacific Western was one of the most attractive schemes ever put to an airliner IMHO.

Back when they weren't afraid of colour on airliners!
