Easy there tiger .....

Don't get me wrong. I think your figure is great. Really. Just throwing some constructive crit your way. However, YOU have already made the most important point that can be made. You build for yourself ... and ultimatly that's what its about.

I don't really care that I placed 3rd or last ... I like my OIF figure. And there were a lot of people here that liked it too .... that and the 3rd place finish was a plus. I do look at it now and can point out things I could have done better, but really .... who CAN'T look at a finished model and say the same thing!?!

You do what you do, camo. You've got a grip on what it is that you want out of this one. I'll work you from another angle ... like building up a chopped-in-half HMMWV! HAHAHAH!!!!

model, you got it all wrong. there's no hard feelings on this end! i tell ya one thing i despise about writing......people always put THEIR thoughts, emotions, and interpretations into your written word and that usually leads to trouble!!! that's y i put a million little smiley faces or p.o'ed faces or whatever to "help" interpret my points. Angry [:(!] again model...i can take constructive criticism...if it sux...it sux. (btw i realize im spelling that wrong). it is what it is. i wouldnt post, nor waste my time building and posting, if i thought everyone was going to love what i produce. as i said 1,000,001 times now...i'm a mediocre modeler...and that means...absolutely nothing!!! i'm 38 and have been modeling since i got out of the army after desert storm...basically im saying i'm old and wise enough to not worry about my "feelings" getting hurt!!! if ya go back and look at my posts...i asked for your opinions!! now, we're cool on this end bud...how bout u?

as for your fig...i loved it...u know that. i was making a point about the fact that some judge told you or whatever, that the face needed more depth...your guy had glasses on...how much face was there really to care about it??? and as for where u placed...i was also trying to make u feel better because if you placed 1st or 3rd...does it really matter especially if 100 people tried to place then 3rd was phenominal (in my book).

please dont read too much into my posts model they are not meant as they seem.  i wouldnt waste my time here nor have made a "friend" in you and p.o. if all i wanted was to crap out a piece of $%^$%^ and have you guys call in a rose! Laugh [(-D] 'nuff said!

hahaha hey camo at least you can crap out pieces of $%^$%^... I still have very few pieces to show and I’ve been tinkering around this hobby for... maybe half my life! lol Ok fine, so I don't think your figures are very rose-ish. However I think if I were to call your Delta Commando a rose... you might look at me a little funny in a new light. Your dio’s nicer than all the dio’s I’ve started and never finished. Never made it to the paint stage to be honest. There're a few spots on the Woodland where there looks like there’s a lot of brown and tan and no green, might be a little too much for my taste, but it doesn’t mean it’s wrong, you’ve been in the Army longer than I Tongue [:P]. I did not notice that seam on the helmet just now (strange that their 1/16 figure builds up just like their 1/35 copy- I had it for one piece...). But for a 6 year old closet resurrection, this things pretty nice, can’t argue about that camo!!! And I’m not blowing smoke up your Censored [censored]

I .... still ... sniff ..... sniff ..... ..... I still need a hug!! .... sniff, sniff.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad that you and I are so very similar, camo! But it's good that we're "forum friends" though, we might have either gotten each other in trouble with the law, or killed each other if we lived next door!

I didn't take your comments as negative. But friends or not, some people do get a little defensive about their builds .... and damn-it, stop calling yourself mediocre modeler. You're not .... you're a good builder. Seriously.

Now where's you're updated pictures ... on your own thread! (I think this one already has like 3 builds on it!?!)

So I thought I'd jump-start this one again ... and no, not b/c it dopped to the 2nd page ... well, ok, that was part of it. HAHA!

As per one of my last posts, I think that I'm going to scrap the 1/12 figures, although they would have made an impressive build, they were just too big. So, I'm going to re-start this one, using a shadow box idea to begin with, using 1/35 figures.

I've got a lot on my brain at the moment when it comes to this build. I don't want it to fail all together, but I'm not 100% on using the 1/35 figures either. I just keep thinking how nice those 1/12 scale figure would look .... plus I've already spent the money too!

Either way, this one's going to be stuck on paper until I decide which way I'm going to go. Large or small, I'm going to re-start it ..... may have to let this one drop to the 3rd or maybe even the 4th page (say it ain't so!) before I pull this one back out....

well, i cant give ya updates other than verbally. the way i see it, even though i'm done with the base, if i show an update, i think it would distract from the final build. i mean you and (anyone else) who saw the building and basic idea know what's there of course and even though i "enhanced" it since you've seen it last the same basic thing is there without the figs. i guess i just simply want to WOW you guys with a finished product by making some of it "new" to the senses!! i know i may be shooting myself in the foot because i need your inputs...hhmmmm....well, i suppose i could pm you guys for inputs that way no one else see's the "finished" product. i dont know let me know what ya think!!

OOoooo..... the casting/ molding process always seems to take a bit of time.

With the SF build drying, I'm taking another look at this build. I'm still on the hanger as to what course of action I'm going to go with. I've pretty much settled down to three:

1) Continue the build as is, with the 1/12 figures, but just build it as a static dio.

2) Same as #1, but build it into the original idea with all the lighting and lasers ... possibly closing it into a shadow box.

3) Go with the original idea, but with 1/35 figures into a shadow box.

Hmmm .... so much to think about ....

Opinions are welcome ...

Hey, surprises are good, I know I'm looking forward to it. But I mean I also build dioramas vicariously through you two, so update pics are always nice. Feel free to PM away if you want an opinion! But I don't mind waiting for the surprise.

Model as for your conundrum, I'd try mocking up the 1/35 guys next to your FO wire. If it doesn't look way too big for the scale, I think the size of the box would be waay more manageable in 1/35. 1/12 would be crazy awesome, but I think if you wanted to do it with the lights and the shadow box, 1/35 might be a better way to go?

HAHA!!! You got suckered!!! ... just like me .... three times over. Congrats and enjoy the new pup!

Thats one of the great things about modeling .... you can stop for a bit and your work is right there when you decide to come back to it!

yeah i suppose i did..but he's a cutie!! never owned a puppy b4 this should be interesting...definately going to be busy following him around. the 3 hour car ride back in a few days should be equally "interesting"!! he's sleeping right now so i have a few minutes. brought some of my modeling to do would like to work on it. perhaps when the wife and m-i-l get's back from the hospital (mom's having knee surgery). hoping to get at least this one thing done b4 i leave so that all i have left on the dio is to build and paint some figs!!! btw...better u than me with the 3...2's going to be more than enough!!
