potato, poTAto .... whatever. The 240 has lots of names, just depends on who's using it I guess. Wiki has a nice little write-up about the 240 and all its nomenclatures ....

Thanks for the info on the optics. As far as the 240B goes, I'm looking for something like the M145 optic. Its probably easy enough to scratch, but again, w/ this, I'd rather not.

And yes .... Verlinden, Dragon, Tamiya ... and whoever else might be listening ... they definately need to step up their game w/ more accurate, modern stuff. I see more detailed/ improved WWII kits coming out all the time!

Blast's M4 set is by far (IMO) the best that's out there right now. The only M4 rifles that I've come across that match BLast come from AFV's M151 Remote CROW kit. I think it comes w/ 2-3 rifles .... not too bad for something that comes out of a kit box.

I'm still trying to decide what I want to do w/ this one. I always hate to buy a kit just for one or two weapons (like Dragon's MG set) as I know I wouldn't use the rest. Guess I'll figure something out.

Grimmo's dio build has a B model goin' on from HF's kit, while I think that Arkhunter used a G model from another kit and added the heat shield w/ styrene. I just don't want to go to that trouble .... plus I want to recast it for future builds.

Here is a 240B ...

Thats actually a MAG-58.

As for optics, Dragon have an ACOG in their US Army SF set. There is an M4 with an ACOG in AFV's Stryker setr and RWS set. Mousehouse Armour make a set of Austeyrs (F-88's) that have an ELCAN sight in it. A good source of modern weapons is the Blast M4, M16, and Sniper weapons set. (i have 1 of each). They are a bit chunky looking, but the most modern out there. Dragon, and especially verlinden, need to pick up their act and make modern weapon sets. If they go to the nth degree for their german kits, why cant they do that for their modern sets?

I would love to get some of the PK weapons and see what they are like. I have seen a para version of the M249 made by tank, but i have made my own. Bit fiddly, but still looks the part.

EDIT! No- you're right, the LAV gun is a 240G- it's hard to tell because, again, Verlin shortcut- there's no handguards on it, but they didn't mold the gap between the gas tube and the barrel, so it looks like it's just one solid piece, stay away from that kit if you want the 240B lol

Sorry for the misunderstanding- that 240B on my LAV was from the Verlin kit I showed you- switched out the figure with a SAW so I could stick the 240 on the LAV, Trump's kit didn't come with anything more than the green portion of that mount. And like I was saying about the cast- it's typical Verlin shortcut work, nice detail in places, but those heat shields don't look half as good as the one from that PK kit that you said needed cleaning up- and if you think that PK kit needed cleaning up, you'd cringe at the Verlin kit. It’s kind of chunky in general, with the paintjob I put onto it, I think it came out as doable for a 1/35 vehicle mounted gun, but you’ll notice my “mount” I scratchbuilt looks pretty bad, so my standards aren’t nearly up there with yours. I’d say go for the nicer cast off the bat- pay a little bit of extra $ just so you don’t have to do as much work prior to the cast so you can start making your copies sooner and from a more solid starting point. Wish I could help you ID that second picture, however I’ve never seen it before. Best of luck!

After looking at ore pictures of that VP Machine Gun Crew (above), I think that it has a 240G. Has anyone built/ own this kit? I'm curious as to the actual wepaon in the kit and how the pieces are cast?

I can't tell with the Verlinden figures, but the one mounted to the veh is a G model.

The G is mainly used by the Marines. But really the only difference btwn the B and G is that the G is missing the handguards/ heat shields at the end of the receiver .... so it looks like it has a longer barrel and gas tube. Grimmo's dio build has a B model goin' on from HF's kit, while I think that Arkhunter used a G model from another kit and added the heat shield w/ styrene. I just don't want to go to that trouble .... plus I want to recast it for future builds.

Here is a 240B ...

... and a 240G.

Here is the kit from PK. The 240B is on the bottom right. It looks like it would need a little "cleaning up."

I found this pic of a kit in my saved files, but I can't remember where I found it.

Its actually a pretty nice kit. Nice detail, etc. Plus, its got a 240B, a couple of M4s, a Barret, and the compact SAW .... and what looks to be some optics. If anyone recognizes it, PLEASE let me know. I'll be continuing to re-search for it as well. Man! ... I need to add notes to pics I save!

I honestly can't tell the difference between a 240B or G in 1/35- but I know you're the fine detail master- Verlin makes this kit

-pulled the box art off of Google. Not the best mold- standard Verlin corner cutting in places, no ammo belt or box mag, bipod molded in one piece under the barrel with a demarcation line that needs some good scribing.

Again- not sure if it's a G or B, but here it is on my 1/35 LAV

Don't mind the crazy TC- his recon mission just turned sour

In need of a 1/35 M240B.....

I need to add a few weapons to my "arsenal" and one is a 1/35 M240B. I know that I can easily convert a "G" model found in Dragon's Modern Machine Gun set, but I don't want to. To my understanding, the Hobby Fan kit #048 is the only one that offers the 240B. Does anyone know of someone else that makes one? The only place that I can find the HF kit avail is too expensive for me, especially when all I'm going to use from it is the 240B and the M4s. I've already got plenty of modern storage equipment.

PK has a kit that carries a 240G, a short barrel shotgun and a couple of different M16/ M4 variants, but I've heard bad things about thier molds. If anyone can shed some light on any Propaganda Kompany experience, I'd appreciate that as well.

I'm also looking to add am M870 shotgun, maybe a couple fo different SAW variants (especially the collapsible stock and short barrel), and I'm also looking for optics. The more modern the better. Red dots, ACOGs, etc.

If anyone can help me in this quest, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.
