Some kits I would love to have/see in styrene......
Posted by Jester75 on Friday, August 12, 2011 3:38 PM

Well, Netflix has added all of the Start Trek series to their instant watch and I have been watching Star Trek Voyager alot lately. I am about half way through season 4 and am just dying to get my hands on a kit of Voyager WITHOUT paying 60 bucks for it on eBay. Really wishing I wouldve picked one of these up back in the day when you could find them in the LHS. I emailed Round 2 Models and the response was that they had no plans to re-release Voyager at this time.Sad

Also, I would love to see the Event Horizon and the Lewis & Clark in plastic. Both of these are very attractive ships and would look great modeled, although the Event Horizon was a beast!!!

Anyways, just kinda thinking out loud here....I am jealous of those of you who have managed to get a Voyager for a decent price!!!

I’d prefer another “Elsie”, the Robert Heinlein’s “Time for the Stars” torchship:

Did AMT/Round 2 even do Voyager? Voyager was licensed to Monogram.

Apparently, Voyager was repopped by Revell Germany in 2009 for the European market.  http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Revell-Monogram

I'd like to see some of the Halo stuff done in plastic. That'd be fun.

My two cent wish list:

  1. Police Spinner from Blade Runner, 1/24 scale.
  2. Gunstar-1 from The Last Starfighter, 1/72 scale, with "Death Blossom" option.
  3. Darth Vader's TIE from Star Wars, 1/72 scale.
  4. TIE Bomber from Empire Strikes Back, 1/72 scale.
  5. Space Pod from 2001: A Space Odyssey, 1/24 scale.
  6. Discovery from 2001: A Space Odyssey, 1/350 scale.  (Yeah right, but since this is an idle day dream, why not?)

All the above by Fine Molds, if possible.

A decent (i.e. new tool) kit of the Klingon D-7 from the movies would be nice as well.  Too bad the companies that make Star Trek models all seem to be unable to produce crisp detail like FM can.  Oh, almost forgot about Babylon-5.  A Shadow Crab, Kosh's Ship, the Minbari White Star, and an Earth Omega Class destroyer would be awesome.  I know, ain't gonna happen.  Too bad, as the resin stuff is expensive, variable in quality, and hard to find.

I hope someone can dig out a Voyager kit for you at a reasonable price.  If you had a time machine, I could have sent mine to you at postage cost.  (I gave mine to a friend.)

The Prometeus from Star Trek Voyager would be cool too, was just mean looking with four nacelles and that wedge shaped saucer section.

I've got three of the Voyagers; one I bought when they first came out, one of the limited edition ones when they arrived and a third I bought that was in a mangled box in the clearance aisle in a Walmart a long time after the kit originally was released. Bad box, but untouched kit inside. The kits were not all that impressive, but were easily the best Star Trek kits of their time.

Yes, the open bay and a few parts that were now molded clear like the deflector dish. The decal sheet is expanded and of a much higher quality than the first kit's decals. There are even decals that go behind the clear windows for some "interior" detailing.

I would also like to see Fine Molds do a 1/72 scale B-Wing fighter. I would like it in 1/48 scale, but it would be very large; perhaps too large. The old MPC kit is long in the tooth and dates back to 1984; over 25 years old.

Ditto with a Finemolds A-wing and TIE Defender (heck, any other TIE itenerations would be pretty sweet.) even in 1/72nd, the detail is amazing.

There has been at least one 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Nautilus done in injection plastic, but not the more popular Disney version. Revell-Monogram released one based on a TV series for children called the Crayola Kids Adventures: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Basically the story is done in one episode with children playing all the parts. You can IMDB the show and there are videos of the episode online.

My stepkids watched this series in the 1990s and I recall watching the 20,000 Leagues show with them. I think I got the kit in Walmart which was based on the Nautilus from this episode. It was a pretty good kit even though it was snap-tite. There was a large, clear portion of one side with stickers inside to represent interior detail. I found one on eBay for not a lot of money: The auction has a few additional photos of the kit inside the box. I have no connection to the seller. My kit was built and destroyed by the kids long ago.

I've seen some kits were made of the Daedelus, but I can't find them anywhere.

I have an unopened 3-ship Voyager set.  I don't know how accurate it is.  I'm looking forward to buidling it soon (I'm in the middle of the Angel Rebirth anime and an Airbus 319...I'm trying to pace myself).
