Only 30 years too late, but will be a welcome release!

Long wait, yes, but the way I see it is the only "too late" is if something's released after we're not here to build it.

For the Star Trek series they never introduced the Dreadnought series of Battleship Star Ship on the show. My Starfleet technical manual that was purchased in 1975 has a recognition and specification sheet on the U.S.S. Dreadnought this class started with number NCC 2100. Although Starcraft models does offer a TOS Dreadnought in resin 1/1400 scale (they offer quality stuff I have two different kits of theirs) I would like to see a styrene kit in the same scale as the Ertl/Round 2 (1/635?) and if in 1/350 you could really go crazy with the detail. The TOS Enterprise is described in the Starfleet Technical manual as being a Heavy Class Cruiser and I suppose that when discussing ship size such as the Enterprise B, C, D, and E they were way bigger and more fire power than the TOS battleship or 1701-A. The B, C, D, and E ships by adding a third warp engine could be construed as a Battleship but I like a design of its own. Magoo

Got bored last night and pulled out the 'Farscape' TV movie 'Peacekeep Wars' and wow I forgot how many cool looking starships were in this series.

I guess it wasn't the biggest show but I'm still surprised there aren't any garage kits of Talyn, Dargo's ancient Luxan ship Lolan, or the Peacekeeper Prowler fighter. And some of the less seen ships like the Peacekeeper Command Carrier and Scarren Empire dreadnought and fighter would have been cool to see. Styrene or resin I'd be happy to see anything I don't have to scratchbuild.

And the other week watched the 1980 version of 'Flash Gordon' again. As far as I know no garage kits from this crazy cult classic at all.

Finally why not a 1/6th scale figure of Caroline Munro as 'Stella Star' from 'Starcrash' wearing her space black leather bikini??? Heart

The DEFINITIVE Nautilus from the Disney Film.    Airfix were going to do it back in the 70's or 80's but the project was scrapped. I saw their test shots at a trade show and they looked good.

I'll agree with all the Star Trek ideas. I wish there were more models of the NX-01 Enterprise and other ships from that show (Vulcan and Andorian ships, especially). I got the PolarLights snap model of that Enterprise and it was just awful. In fact I wish it were not so difficult to find non-snap fit ST models.

I think video games are a hugely untapped resource for scale models. I'd freaking love to see a Metal Gear Solid series, with each model (Rex, Ray, Arsenal, Peace Walker, Shagohad, etc), or just Rex at least. There is a super pricey limited model of Rex coming out soon, but no way I can shill out $300 or so for it.

The Normandy from Mass Effect would be pretty cool too. Or how about the Ishimura from Dead Space? I think if video game franchises started appearing in scale models, the craft would see a big new generation of modelers.

Hari, you hit the nail on the head for me.

Mass Effect 2 had a cadre of 'model ships' you could buy in the game to decorate your captain's quarters on the Normandy yet Bioware never licensed real model kits of the ships!  Makes me so angry!

im not a real big sci-fi fan (otherthan gundams, i dont follow the story lines, but the suits are cool) but i wish somebody would make the ARC-170 starfighter in 1/48 or 1/32 scale. revell makes a snap tite one but the detail looks horrid....then again it is only a snap tite.

There are a couple of models of the Normandy guys but they're all pre-built, pre-painted models and expensive. I'd love to see them do a unbuilt, unpainted version.

I have a few resin kits.  one recast of a long out of production Love Hina SD set and some Verlinden large scale figures.  I already destroyed part of the samurai, much to my horror, just trying to get it off the block.

For my money they are way to expensive and way to brittle to be worth it.

Medicman71,

MRC/Halcyon made an injection molded Sly Stallone Dredd, in something like 1/8 scale.  The facial sculpt was a very good likeness.  They also made a Mean Machine.  Horizon made a bunch of vinyl comic book Dredd characters, including Judge Death and Judge Anderson.  I think they also did a movie ABC Robot.  All kits are OOP, so FleaBay might be the place to look for them.

Here's my Mean Machine, built many moons ago:

The last pic is appropriate, being that it is Monday morning over here.  Indifferent

The Halcyon Dredd is a great vinyl kit based on early artwork from 2000AD comics. The sculpt is great, especially around the face, although the Lawgiver could use a replacement barrel. I've seen them for $30-50 online.

Cheers, Aaron

You mean crazy?  Yeah, I do that well.

Mean Machine-Beauty Shot

Looking at the above photo, I realized that I should have drilled out his nostrils.

I also have the Dredd plastic kit, but am still working on modding his pose.  The Stallone face is too good not to use, so I wanted to adjust the left arm to cradle his helmet.  The visor is rough in texture, so I will replace it with a vac form piece.

BTW, here's the 1/9 scale plastic MRC (not Halcyon) Dredd figure:

Dredd-Front

I started work on this a long time ago, and it has sat (stood) like this since.  I modified the right leg to be straight rather than the "Captain Morgan" pose provided in the kit.

Dredd-Face

As you can see, MRC did a pretty good job capturing Sylvester Stallone's face.

Back on topic, I'd sure love to see a 1/72 plastic kit of that big gunship from Avatar.  I understand that Pegasus (?) announced 1/35 scale plastic kits of the hunter-killer aircraft and tank from Terminator.  Those are going to be stinking huge!  I had the Horizon vinyl kit of the aircraft HK, which was in 1/35 IIRC, and it was something like 16-18 inches long.

I want to see the Robot from 'Iron Giant' as a styrene model kit.  Both in the normal version and in the combat mode
