That sounds awesome, how about building the x-wing right after Luke Skywalker lifts it out of the swamp with Yoda?  With the sludge leaking off it and etc.!

I will be putting up the build thread for this next weekend. I will go through the feeler and take entries from there and add to the roster. Please let you know if you change your mind on your entry. And of course, entry's can be added and changed once the GB is up and running.

Alright, I've got the 1/48 Fine Molds X-wing and and MPC Star Destroyer. I'm going to attempt to build both for this GB. I going to pull the trigger on some resin pieces for the Star Destroyer, and a lighting kit for the x-wing, But I'm waiting for some of that green stuff to grow on one of my trees first!

I stuffed the X-Wing into a closet and covered it with some blankets. If it's on a shelf and I can see it, I'll work on it. Out of sight, out of mind. :)

Here is a very valuable link for anyone wanting to detail a Star Wars model. As an aside, there are a lot of neat "Easter eggs" in these detail photos; various model pieces parts. In one photo, I saw the old Tamiya M41 turret among others.

Bakster, there's always plenty of room. Look out for the build thread at the end of Nov.

John, nothing to do with me, honest. Will be nice to see that A-Wing, that's one kit I never got.

Ken, that's good news, but remember the GB runs all the way to Dec so lots of time.

Bish,

you must be using the force.   just last week (without knowing about this thread at all) I decided I would do one of my star wars kits from my stash, Ooooooo  freaky!  I have a MPC A-wing I want to do.  I want to light the cockpit as well as the engines.  Should be fun.  The pit will need alot of work as its pretty barbaric.

My Star Destroyer arrived today. Now I'm motivated to finish some other stuff by end of year.

Can't wait. Still keeping my eyes peeled for a falcon.  I really liked that detail kit that Rob posted for any Ertl kit. That seems like a great alternative to the fine molds kit. Thanks Rob for the lead.

There was some AM out there for the kit. A company called falcon Models had a rather large resin set, but there website is old and I can't get there e-mail address. And a few other bits are now out of production. But I am in no rush to build it as I have plenty of SW kits to keep me going. For this build, I will be doing a TIE Bomber. Its a kit I, and I think many other SW model builders, have wanted for ages. I was looking through Starship modeller last year and came across a 72nd resin kit they had just got in. They only had 3 so despite the price and the shipping across the pond I didn't miss a heartbeat and snapped one up. A couple of days later they were all gone so I was glad I didn't wait.

So that's what I am going to be building, and if I have time I might add a second build.

Thanks Bish.  I was considering one of the MPC kits, but read some unfavorable reviews, but given enough time and effort turns out to be a pretty nice kit.  Let me know your experience if you do build it.  I haven't seen any AM for it, but if I come across any, I will let you know.

Teddz, I am really interested in lighting my kits, and I thought this would be challenging but also guided for my first one.  I am disappointed that the AM detail kits aren't available any more for this one, but I might get ambitious and try some scratch detailing to enhance it.  The Victory II sounds awesome.  Blueprinting and scratch building like that is a bit out of my scope, but hope to see your work.

Thanks...I look forward to seeing everyone's work.

Teddz, if your concerned about the end date of the GB, in most cases and certainly in my GB's, builds are allowed to carry on after the end date. My rule is that as long as progress pics have been posted before the end date, builders can carry on posting in the GB and claim their badge. So if you think you can start that build next year, it will be more than welcome. And a separate wiP thread would certainly be a good idea.

Ken, that's the kit that got me interested in the whole replica prop/model world. I didn't build one, but a friend of mine did and I had done a lot of research thinking I was going to build one also... Then came the exposure to the studio scale star wars models, and that's when I lost touch with reality.

I started working on blueprints for a studio scale (roughly 4' long) Star destroyer, but somewhere in the middle of it, scrapped them and started over, this time for a Victory II Class Star Destroyer. A filming miniature of this was never made and was seen in one of the star wars video games & comics... It has "wings" that open up to aid in maneuvering in a planet's atmosphere. A small 24" model kit was made, but that's 1/2 the size of what I want. I plan to start working on this once my CNC router is up and running (I'm not going to scribe all those lines by hand - No Way!)... this is going to be a long-haul build though and don't see it viable for the GB... but there will be a build thread.

Your more than welcome Ken, nice choice of kit. I know what you mean about the FM Falcon, I would like one of those. I have the MPC kit but trying to find some decent AM is a bit of a pain.
