Or how about the Federation using another Doomsday Machine to get rid of the Borg? A story on how the Federation gets another DM working and pointed in the direction of of Borg with the Enterprise 'running interference' until the DM can get in range? Maybe it is an old anti-weapon to fight the Borg? How about it was an old Borg weapon that can be used against themselves?

Thanks for the compliments on the DM. You are actually looking at an older version of the DM model. Since them it has been airbrushed so it has more contrast between the dark areas and the bright veins. And it is still blinking away with the belly button lights in my computer room.
You've got to love those blinking belly button lights. They are handy for making model effects.
EDIT: I forgot to mention my Connie avatar has a belly button light with fiber optic strands in the starboard engine. The fiber optic go out both the front and rear of the damaged engine and give the engine a sputtering effect.
