I'll start a new thread in the group build section of the forums, and try to get us put up on the sticky with the rest of the "other" types of group builds. Big Smile [:D] I just wanted to see if that looked good to everyone else, as it's the first time all the rules/regs got put up in one spot after all the changes from the original idea. If there's any guidelines that are too restrictive, or could be tweaked just a bit to admit someone else into the build, let us know and the group will weigh the decision.

Are you going to start a new thread, or will we continue to use this one?

I'll try and get my design cleaned up this weekend, it fits into the guidelines (fortunately).

Here's what I've got:

Name:
MM's "Hardcore" Walker GB

Dates:
15Mar05-15Sep05

Guidelines:
- 2-8 Legged Walker, or Walker/Fighter as found in "Lazyner"
- 1-2 person Crew
- Any weaponry you want
- Retro/Hardcore looking, NO SLEEK DESIGNS! Should look like it serves a purpose other than fashion. My take on this? It would be something that would be designed today, like a walking Abrams tank. Final design is your say, but it shouldn't be sleek!
- Should have a visible cockpit. Either open or armored glass panes on the cockpit.
- Roughly 4-5 meters tall in scale (around 8.5" if made in 1/35, or was that 1/24? LOL)
- Utilize any materials you wish to complete the build, but try to keep "greeblies" and pre-made parts to a minimum if possible. If you need to use them to be a part of the build you're still welcome to join, but try to use this as an opportunity to increase your scratchbuilding skill. If you use an unusual medium to complete your project, please let us know what techniques you use to get the end result.

Participants:
DanCooper, stipp, gnsnow, The Syko Ward, Hatewall, maxx1969 (?), ClumsyModeler

These are only initial guidelines, etc. to give everyone an idea on how it's going to go. If there's any ideas out there that may make the build more interesting/open to more participants, please share them. This is the first GB I've ever headed up, so if I'm doing something wrong, let me know. I can't fix something that I don't know is broken.

The badge hasn't been started yet, but I may get something out there shortly (if I'm not too busy at work).

Bah! Sorry guys, I didn't forget about you, just a lot of things going on! So, looks like I'll have to get all the guidelines together, make a badge and notify the proper authorities so we can kick this pig, ey? Give me a couple days, and we'll be rolling!

Kinda, but not quite. My design is eluding me at the moment. Also, I was thinking that the finished model can be built out of whatever materials you see fit. Anyone have a problem with this?

10 designs hit the wastebasket today. At least I know what NOT to do so far. Hmmm. Thinking about working some ideas in sculpey or plasticene, I've been thinking better in 3 dimensions lately. Anyone have a design down and ready to build?

Yeah, I already have a few ideas bouncing in my head. I think that with 6 months you should be able to get something built in the "background" of other builds, i.e. in your spare modeling time.

So far I've got the following participants:
Myself
The Syko Ward
gmsnow
stipp
Hatewall

These are the ones that are firm on participating on the build. If anyone else wants to join, let me know and I'll add you to the list.

All right! So we've got this thing ready to go. I'll start working on something right away. Damn I'm going to be busy with all these builds. But, oh well. The more the merrier. Lots of practice is good I say. Can't wait to see what you all come up with.

Hey I'd be in for that timeframe! Count me in. I'll postpone some current projects for this one!

Alright, let's set the start of the GB for 15 March. I need time to contact the admins and get us listed in a sticky, get all my information together to make a thread in the Group Build forum and start making a GB badge. If you two want to get cracking, then by all means start. End time will be 15 September. You guys think there's anything else that needs to be addressed, or shall I get rolling on this?

Well, I agree with Syko about the time frame.

So, once again I thought I would help keep this thread on the front page like I did with another. I think a date six months starting from March would be OK. Shouldn't take too long to come up with a cool idea for something hardcore and maybe steampunkishBig Smile [:D]. I have a couple of ideas already that I'll be putting down on paper. I was thinking of doing a larger scale version of a Mechwarrior Clickie mech. I know it may hard, but I'll never know till I try, right. Talk to you all later.

Which timeframe Hate, the one starting in June/July or the 6 month starting in March? I'm still trying to figure out the best compromise for everyone. Inputs peeps, inputs! Big Smile [:D]

Syko, good to have you on-board! Looks like the only people really pumped for this build are you, myself, and stipp. That may change, as some guidelines may be modified a bit. However, I need input from all the bystanders out there that would like to get on this build, but something's stopping them.

What do you say wallflowers? If you have an idea, let's hear them! Wink [;)]

Thanks stipp for letting me know I'm on the right track. So, is anyone else interested in this build, or do I have to put it off and try again in 6 months?

Would anyone have any qualms about making this a 6 month build, starting at the beginning of March and going until the end of August? This way if anyone's chomping at the bit to get started (I know I am!) they won't cool off too much and lose interest? The span of time would also make it easy to work on the GB if you have a small amount of spare time, or to take a break from other projects.

Questions, comments, concerms, ideas or gripes?

Sounds great JON!
Ive already started on mine! I`ll have some pics soon.
MM said I could use this skinhead2 as the subject but, to be fair I think I`ll start another another one that fits the criteria.
The name is good!
I think that as soon as the next build should start as soon as the ground assault build is over!Big Smile [:D]
later, Jerry

Alright folks, this is what I need from you all:

- Proper Group Build name
- Group Build Badge (Need the name first, then we can get a few concepts out there) Anyone can make one and we'll vote on the best Badge
- Length of time for the build, start would be at the end of the Ground Assault GB (June?) until ??? I need suggestions on how long everyone needs/wants for this build.

As for the name, I'll take the first poke. How about "MM's 'Hardcore' Walker GB"? Maybe I can get a pic of some blueprints and use that in the construction of the GB Badge? As for length of time for the build, I was contemplating 4 months, perhaps?

I need feedback folks, let's make this happen!

Well, my only reservation is that I may be gone for up to half a year if I go up for retraining in my job, and I don't want to leave you guys high and dry without someone to help pick up where I may leave off. That's my only reservation, otherwise I'd be more than happy to figure out the fine details of the GB and anything else that may need to be done.
