Warhammer 40K GB!

well looks like I missed this GB, if I'm lucky I'll be able to get some snaps of my Tau army. I just finished a few things since I've been home, I kinda miss the game, but to be honest, there is just no place to play, and to pay that much money for a GW product is absurd to me anymore! Wish I could just dump it all!

I just wanted to thank everybody. I think, in general, the GB was a success. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.

Looking good so far. Below, I chucked in a picture of a Inquisitor scale model I finished a few weeks back. I airbrushed the armor gold, and painted the trim silver gave it a wash of burnt umber (I think), and then drybrushed highlights back over it with the gold on the plate and the trim with aluminum followed by silver. This were continually drybrushed until the result was an armored suit that looked bronze and silver without all the graniness. Why am I telling you this? Well, I havent tried the technique on anything smaller than the scale mentioned above, maybe you could give it a shot and see how it turns out. Oh, dont put a dull coat on it, learned that the hard way with an Artemis figure, his left shoulder and glove looked perfect until I hit it with the dullcoat, turned to lead after that. Use a semi-gloss or gloss if you get the hankerin to try.

The elites are looking good. Call me mad, but the washes did have some effect. The gold looks a bit red and the armor is less gloosy, which I think is good.

here is my update. i just started these guys today, kinda in a rush. but hey, the point is to get these guys done. i have had them for a year and i had stopped player 40k since... highschool was over (now i am already done with college). it's been a while but today i sure was having fun with them.

Primed and Bolt Gun Metal base color airbrushed.


Shining Gold trim added.


Black wash for the armor, red brown wash for the trim, then burnished gold lightly drybrushed (pity i seriously can't see any difference still... )


The squad of five overly points and money costly elites.


With a bit more free time tomorrow i should be able to get all the basics done so friday i can get some smaller details and do a quick drybrush with mythril silver and call it it.

LOL. You got me. I didn't know those were imperial symbols. I just thought they were cool looking and that the skulls matched those that mar the chaos marines armor. I should have guessed.

Oh, and I had the same problem with the visor. That's the price for having moving parts. Also remeber this things are made for playing.

Your Immolator looks great! The flame colour scheme really matches the
vehicle well. The modifications and additions you made really improve the look of the vehicle (I'll have to
try replacing the windows with clear styrene next time I build another Rhino-based vehicle)

Only one thing; if this is meant to be a Chaos tank, it really shouldn't have the Imperial eagle and the "I"
Inquisition logo! No self-respecting Chaos Marine would drive a tank adorned with symbols of the "False Emperor" :D

NIce build my friend. I especially like the top down view with the guy in the turret basket. I'm not sure about yours, but the stupid visor thing's sides were too thin, so I had gaps that needed fillin. I am thinkin, the next time, I just cut everything away, glue it into place and fill the holes around it. Anyway, nice looking model and paint job.

Alright! The GB is coming to a sweet end.
In the last 24 hours I enjoyed the photos of two machines of destruction: Drawde's Land Raider and Wolfp's Razorback.
Now it's time to show the world an Immolator like it has never been done (well, I hope so):

It was my first attempt at flames, and while not perfect I liked the resulting look. I used citadel's golden yellow and fiery orange, then some testors red, future and masking tape for the effect and shapes.
Next came a greyish black to contrast with the fire and last some dark sea gray to give it a ash-smoke looking effect. Check the top views to see it.
I did some moddifications:
-The left side door was cut open and is held in place with some silly putty so it's poseable. The turret is also held this way.
-Cut and posed open one of the top doors.
-Cut the windows and made new ones with MM clear parts cement. I didn't add any interior to the drivers compartment cause you can't see a thing through the tiny windows.
-Added the spare clip to the turret. I also drilled the sight and, made a crosshair with small calibre wire. It's not visible in the photos though.
-Exchanged the turret operator head for that of a chaos marine and added the horns from a mutated marine. It still has the body of a sister of battle though.
-Added five ammo bags and a knife (that is the size of a claymore) to the interior. These were spares from the chaos marines.
-Drilled many holes: exhausts & weapons.
I'm satisfied with the overall look and so happy that I did it on time. This is the GB I have enjoyed the most so far. Thanks everyone.

HA!!! Just noticed something. This thing couldnt fire over the front at 0 deg of elevation. You would think after 10,000 years, someone would have caught on and changed the design flaw

Finished chipping, dusting, soot stains, etc. Moving on to decals today. Once that is complete, will do a couple of local washes for a little grime and rainstreak effect. Anyway, here is the photo from last night. Enjoy.

Thanks. The picture is of Asurman, Asuryman.?.I keep goofing up the spelling...which I completed recently. Its a Forge World figure, resin, about 90mm I think. Thanks for the comments on the interior, I was chipping paint on the exterior until one last night. Now to add rain streaks, grime, a little more rust, and we should be complete.

It's never too late to call upon the inquisitors!!! I will answer the call of the imperium with a squad of Grey Knights terminators. I can finish them within four days probably along the Mad Sherman GB. Wish I had seen the GB sooner. Oh well, I would have added a squad of Dark Angels Terminators if time allows.

The razor is coming out nicely. I felt envy from the interior. I think I'll have to add some bits to mine. I did add some of the spare parts from the chaos marines.
I've had a very hard week. I've been attending a course in México city. So I have been driving almost 4 hours a day plus the 6 hours of classes. But's been worthy and fun, believe it or not.
Anyway, last weekend I finished the turret. I did most overall painting. I, actually, don't want to post photos yet. It'd spoil the surprise. I'm sure it'll be a very original immolator. Well maybe pics of the turret.
I'm happy that the model allowed for some slight modifications, and it's turning out ok.
I hope to apply the last color of the scheme tomorrow and maybe install the tracks on sunday.

Nother update...Finished rust on tracks and exhaust. Highlights to hull complete. Start applying tracks tomorrow, along with completion of mud highlights. Hopefully, I can get this puppy complete by the weekend

Back with a couple more updates on my razorback...First picture is with the base color laid in followed by application of squadron white putty for a little mud.

Applied two oil washes, one of a cadmium yellow to enrich the washed out base color. The second was a mix of burnt sienna, a touch of cadmium yellow, a little black, and Italian brown from testors. Think they turned out a-ok. Mud will be drybrushed to simulate dried mud that's been on for a while and, of course, drybrushing of the vehicle will continue also. Hopefully will have this puppy done sometime next week. Bout it for now. Anyone else have any updates? Chao.

Nother update...hull completed and undercoated with panzer grey. Next color...yellow.

I just finished weathering the troop compartment and I dont think the tech-priests of Mars would be too pleased with her treatment. I have been dilly-dallying around with some new weathering techniques and they dont work half-bad. My problem now is knowing when to say...'when' . That being said, dull-coat goes on followed by construction of the outer hull. I think I have decided on an imperial fists version. I was thinking of scratch-building a turret basket, as my plan is to leave the part holding the turret loose so it can be removed and a peek taken inside. Might have to wait until after this group build is over. So here are the pictures

I finished the interior of the immolator. Nothing too complex. Then I glued the front and top pieces of the hull and did a lot of sanding. I'm still playing with various ideas about it. I'm getting excited.

While waiting on my ironfoot's dull coat to cure, I decided to go ahead and start this one. Below is my project started today, a razorback. Finished the lower hull and painted interior Tamiya Buff.

LOL...its always seems there is always just one more thing that crops up. When this post first started, I had grandiose plans of building this diorama of a Space Marine convoy being ambushed with the Marines reacting. Oh well. Like you said, the best intentions. I kept being distracted by other boxes while digging and compiling kits. Have a friend going through the school with me, Antonio Gomez from Mexico City, He's a Capitan de Corbeta en la Armada de Mexico. Says its pretty down in that neck of the woods. Metepec, wich means the Hill of Clay, is near México City. It's about 45 - 1hr trip driving.
I just moved from Monterrey, which is on the north part. It's like 250km south of Texas.
Returning to modeling subjects: last weekend I opened the box a tamiya tiger I had half built a couple years ago and couldn't help finishing it. I promise I'll get into the immolator next.
