Lol. Me too.
Actually I fear that if i play it I may like it so much I'll be hooked.

And funnier will be when you finally finish the blood angels and, the next day, they are hijacked by your son to play with his pals. Tongue [:P]

Heh...same here. I have the books, a bazillion of the figures spanning 20 years, and have yet to play a single game. I have been painting the same Blood Angels for nearly that same amount of time and have yet to finish them. Now you would think that I would have amassed a rather large amount of troopers by now...not the case at all. I still have only completed 10 tactical, 10 assault, 10 termis, and a HQ. They are like my personal white whale. What's even funnier...The fact that I had no children when I started collecting this stuff back in 88. Now my son, whom just turned 14, really loves to play the game. Talk about traversing generations.

Many apologies - I finished the Land Raider about 3 weeks ago, and photographed it nearly 3 weeks ago... I just haven't got round to "writing up" the photos and posting them here. I'll try and get this done ASAP now.

I also painted a few Space Marines, including a customised Chaos Marine Captain, so I'll photograph these as well.
My next 40K project will probably be some Imperial Guard and Orks.

BTW I'd really like to actually play a game of 40K, but so far I don't actually have a painted, playable army (despite having 3 boxfuls of assorted second-hand models awaiting restoration and repainting). I'm trying to assemble a playable Space Marine army (Salamanders chapter) but so far I only have 2 6-man squads, a Captain and a Rhino APC.

The trouble is that I'm more interested in the modelling aspect of the game, so don't really want to assemble and paint dozens of the same type of figure/model at the same time. I tend to build a vehicle or a few figures for one army and then go on to another.

So you thought the GB was dead? Wrong, or at least on my behalf.
I finished moving last week, back to my parents house sadly, and just got enough time to finish the chaos marines squad. Yeah!
And here are the pics:

I know two bolters is over the top, but I loved it so here's another look.
http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/1351/s36000781yh.jpg
The camo is actually made up from three colors: one green and two grays. All masked with silly putty.
The eyes were painted yellow with some yellow ink and a needle.
Gun barrels were drilled and weapons painted gunmetal with MM metalizer.
I used markers a lot. All the gold, silver, metallic blue and white are markers.
I felt there were more than enough symbols so I left the decals out. I also, didn't use the sidearms bags except for one.
I know there are mistakes, specially when one looks closer to the arm pits and the green was oversprayed, but I'm very satisfied. I hadn't felt this good about a model since last year Big Smile [:D]
Critics are welcome.
The immolator is next and I hope everyone else is also enjoying their builds.

Land Raider pics uploaded - see this thread:
http://www.finescale.com/fsm/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=42869

Shouldn't take much longer to complete the tank, now - maybe a week, possibly less.

BTW, great looking Tau Battlesuit, Deusmex! Makes a change from the usual sand-coloured Tau colour schemes.

Hey Deusmex, l hope inspiration get's you again in a good way. That's a nice Tau suit.
Can't wait to see some photos Drawde. Oh, and I think opeanable side doors is the way to go. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the idea.
I worked a little on the Chaos Marines. Painted weapons and finished the overall camo on them.
Right now I'm working on something else, a Stug IV, for the 75mm GB, but I hope to get back on track later this month.

It's been a while, but I've finally (today) started work on the Land Raider - stay tuned
for some photos later this week! I'm intending to paint the interior as well as I can and also
add a few details such as weapon racks and stores. Hopefully I'll also be able to make the side doors
openable, so all that detail won't be lost.

Scale wise the figures are about 28mm , 1/48 figures are 36mm so my guess is somewhere between 1/50 and 1/60

My Ravager has been on the back burner for a while as Inspiration has deserted me ,and Im waiting on the Woodelves to be releasd from GW so I can get some crew sorted out for it. Heres a little something I painted last night to try to get me kickstarted. Its actually for a painting comp I forgot about until the last minute so I had about 4 hours to paint this sucker.
Tau Crisis Suit

does my bum look big in this??

cheers

Well, decide on one and go for it.

Hey, people, don't freak about this question, please: What's the scale for the stuff we are building? My best guess is 1/40.

Good lerxst1031. Let's hope everything arrives ok.

I agree with you Drawde. DoW is a great game. To bad the campaign is quite short. I don't play much multiplayer mode of that kind of games. Maybe we shoul play a match one of this days.
I don't intend to get into the tabletop game. I can't afford another hobby right now.

BTW, I've never played a tabletop game of 40K either (though I intend to, once I've got a playable
army completed).
Up until the release of the PC game "Dawn of War", my impression of Warhammer 40K was based on vague memories
of reading some second-hand copies of White Dwarf 10 years ago (yes, seriously!) and I didn't really appreciate the difference between the Epic and 28mm games, or even between 40K and Warhammer Fantasy. I had a vague mental impression of small, rather crude and undetailed, cartoony pseudo-fantasy tanks and vehicles.

However, DoW showed me just how impressive and atmospheric the 40K world really was, and how cool some of the vehicle and troop designs were - it made me a near-instant convert!

Sorry for the delay, but I'll probably start work on the Land Raider very soon.
I've a lot on my modelling workbench at the minute - I'm just finishing my X-Wing toy rebuild project and also have Panzer IV, Macchi 202 and Avro Anson kits in the process of construction!

Hey everyone. I'm back and moving on.
I finally finished my Tornado (for another GB) and I'm focused on the chaos marines right now. I decide to camuflage them so I put little pieces of putty all over them. They are now ready to receive the second color of the scheme.

Well, all I had was a bunch of chaos backpacks and heavy weapon bits, I must have left the rest in PA when I moved, but I do have a commissar and chaos lord, perhaps I'll do a little dio!

Allright! Smile [:)] You're in.
Hey, sphealey, please do post those pictures.
And I added lerxst1031 with a squad of something. Let's hope that something is goodTongue [:P]
I'm pleased to see so many people interested. Thank you.
Right now I have plenty of work and a trip to visit my parents next week. I think the Immolator will have to wait until, maybe, the end of the month. Fortunatelly I can visit the forum from the office or from my parents pc.

Count me in for a squad of Cadians from the Imperial 501st regiment. I can also post some pics of the rest of my army and the tanks I'm doing for the Ground Assult gruop build.

Although I would like to see a Sentinel, your choice is a very cool one. Thumbs Up [tup]
You have been, officially, added to the GB!

So here 're my finalists for the GB:

  • A small dio/vignette of Orks going after a Sentinel - not started, kits gathered

  • A Salamander open top recon conversion - kits/styrene sheet gathered, some parts cleanup started

  • A Servitor-esque conversion from a Ork in Mega-Armor, an Ogryn head, and some other greeblies - have the Ork in Mega-Armor body, not much else right now

  • A small dio/vignette of an Ork "Supply Truck" with the driver taking a snack break - no kits, but some crude layout drawings made

And the winner is: the Salamander, unabashedly using the steps found here:

http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/imperialguard/painting/tank_conv/s1.htm

Imitation is *the* sincerest form of flattery, after all...nyuck, nyuck. I'm adding some "beefier" firepower for it from my 1/35th armor kit spares box though. We'll see how it goes.

Once again into the breech,

I'm not familiar with W40K color schemes, but I trust you choosed a good looking one.

Here are my latest creations (finally...) - http://www.finescale.com/fsm/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=39707

Now to get started on the Land Raider - it's going to be a standard version, not a Crusader, and is also a new, untouched
kit, for once, unlike the "Scrapyard Challenge" Ebay purchases which most of my other 40K models are made from!
It will be built more or less "out of the box" in terms of parts, but may have a somewhat customised colour scheme. Dark Angels often seem to have elaborate decoration on their vehicles.

Nope, no joke. I really like the detail on the kits, and the fact you can buy indidvidual sprues of parts or decal sheets from GW whenever you want them (wish more manufacturers did that...anyway). The rules seem a bit "out there" to me at times, and I'd just like to build and not necessarily have to worry about the point cost of a BFG-9000 for a Space Marine or an HATG-5k on a Predator.

QUOTE: What do you have in mind?Oh, BTW, I only played teh PC game Tongue [:P] but thought some of the models looked cool.

I have a couple ideas. Will solidly declare my intention by April 1 once I get a handle on "the stash" of kits.

I knew I saw some screen captures of this game and a looted Leman Russ online somewhere. www.gamespot.com has it, here's the link:

the image is quite large, thats why I didn't use the image tags here in the forum.

Ok. You're in Smile [:)].
But I got a question: do 'da boys' fit inside the looted Russ? Tongue [:P] Maybe it should be grotz operated.
