I can't use that one, Matt, its sunny most of the year down here(not meant as anything other than a weather statement Big Smile [:D]). In my defense working in construction, most of the time I get home and am so sore and dog tired I can't do much, if any modeling. Weekend rolls around and voila! Too many hands on my time!!

I know, Woody. My daughter keeps bugging me to finish it. I have two sets of Dave Tomita's decals for it. Just need to figure out how to cut up second set to go on secondary hull. And get someone to print out name and registry.

Still haven't painted it. I'm aferd too! Painting isn't my strong point and I'm not used to 2500th scale ships. Beside that I still have a problem with finishing anything before moving on to something new. Thanks for asking, Woody.

And for those that didn't see this over the Holidays, Christmas Borg:

The cube took me about 6 months to make. I couldn't work on it for too long at once for obvious reasons. I specifily did not want the sprue look, and all I had for research at the time was a collector card of the Borg and playing the BOBW episode over and over.

Yeah that's why i have never attempted one from model sprue!LOL The TV/movie screen hides ALOT of fine details.

Leviathan Class IS cool. It's very appropriate. Love the cube! I read [I beleive it was in my TreK Encyclopedia] that the original studio model was made from old modle sprues/frames with bits from the parts bin added.

Or "Gracie Class" after the waht from "The Voyage Home". I know it's wierd but that is one of the images that comes to mind. "Orca" class does sound cooler though. All the dinasaur reference I can think of are too long.Shy [8)]

Getting closer, Woody. I actually worked some more on final puttying this last weekend. Getting in around the launch bays was a pain, but it is done. Martian, thanks, I've been thinking the same thing about the shape. It reminds me of one of the sea-going dinosaurs from that Discovery Channel special a while ago. This might help me think of a class name for it.

I'll post more pics when I can.

I came to check on your progress as well Steven Q! Looking good. Haven't been to area of the forum lately since the "Dark Side" has been dominating my destiny of late. I love how you maintained the "oraganic" lines of the ship. It looks even more organic than the Enterprise D. It looks like some type giganic power ful sea creature. Very graceful lines. Love it!

Sorry Woody, Not much time to work on it lately. It seems that every time I look at it I find another spot to re-putty. Just being anal I guess. I am real close to addind final detail, re-priming and then I'll paint it. Thanks for the "nudge" though.Smile [:)]

Thanks for the input Mike. I'll consider that and a few other suggestions I'm gathering. I've already made a few phaser strips. I'm putting one medium length dorsal strip just behind the saucer. I was playing with two short ones above the recovery bay, either side. I'm putting an "observation platfrom"in the middle. The suggestion's been made to put 2 strips on the warp engines instead......any thoughts on that?
The other place for torps is in the middle "pocket" between the impulse engines. I also need to place a torp launcher forward arc somewhere on the sec. hull, top or bottom. I have thought about this big lumbering beast floating out there as a very tasty target as well, so all arcs need to be covered. It should be able to stand alone, as well as with its escorts. Thanks again for the interest.

Are you still looking for suggestions on where to put the photorp launchers? If so, i would suggest you consider the forward launchers could go in the small space you have on the secondary hull directly underneath the impulse engines. One on either side would do nicely, I think. For technical accuracy's sake, the firing arc would be limited because of the primary hull, but it would look keen. You have enough secondary hull space that you could mount 1, possibly 2 side by side aft launchers on the dorsal side of the secondary hull, perhaps set back just a smidge from the rear shuttlebay doors.

Something else to think about....since I'm sure that carriers in Picard's day are still bomb magnets, I would suggest adding a group of phaser strips on the secondary hull, to keep with the thinking that this type of vessel would be a high value target. Don't forget the ventral side as well.

There's my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

Mike

Finally I have managed to put the first coat of primer on it and it looks like a ship! Minus the warp engines in these pics. I still have puttying and fine sanding still to do, and gluing on of small details. The aft shot shows the model railroad piece glued to the "butt" and puttied in as the impulse engines. here's the links:
