Get a copy of Building Model Warships of the Iron and Steel Eras, edited by Peter Beisheim (Naval Institute Press).   The chapter by Stephen Henninger describes his build of the 1:100 scale USS Enterprise which is now on display at the Air & Space Museum in DC..

He ended up building the hull one and a half times while he was on long term deployment

There is a lot of good information on the processes and problems of scratch building a large scale ship model

Very impressive. I've thought about doing a scratch build. Have you done any boxed wooden ships such as amati? If so how do they compare difficulty wise? I have done a couple from them.

Thank you Gregbale. The plans are from Best Ship Models, But i discovered some major mistakes during the construction, comparing the plans with the real photos.

Looks like an extremely impressive start so far! (Very glad you decided to share your project.)

Whose plans are you working from?

Greg

I hope yo enjoy my work, and of course, i will wellcome any critics.
