Thanks Jim, I thought you might come down to NC.  Hoped.  I just put a new one on ships & left the other on Tech Assistance.

Gene,

I am about to head back to Philly but I had to take a last look and see how you made out in getting this Thread restarted. Great job!  And your Red Chevrons are "to die for".

 Nino.

P.S. It is hard to believe that is the original Plastic Deck, WOW!

I made a mistake & filed this under Technical Assistance. I tried to bring it over here & got the bunch of Google numbers, so I will do it again here. I guess it will remai on Technical Assistance.

I got tthis kit on May 21 & started it on May 23. As usual with Revell they do not give you any good glueing points for the deck & other things so I added the with strips of .066 plastic. Here are the first pictures I took of it, followed by a more complete hull.

I had started but set aside an Airfix Bounty kit. I fixed the sloping deck & show how. It was simple. The ffirst picture is my 10" piece of 1x2 for the pedestal screws. I shape it to the hull with a block plane.

The second painting of the kit deck. I looks better on the model, shows all the grain.

The plastic gluing strips for the deck. Revell give you those tiny pin points.

This shows the color of the deck pretty good.

I learned a lot of new things on this build, like the deck painting. I did it twice & washed the first off with Purple power. On the second time i painted the deck with Tamiya Deck Tan & sealed it with MM dul & gloss coat mix. Then I washed it with raw umber & when dry sealed it, but do not touch the stain after the wash. Just coat it with the same sealer. The grain shows up nice & revell didn't give us a grooved panel line on this kit. No black wash this time & it looks much better & gives a nice color. I was about ready to buy the HIS deck but hated to spend another $80.

I also learned how to make a pattern & make the red chevron decals. Works great. I also painted the gun carriages & tack glued them & then drilled a hole thru them into the deck & CA glued a .032 wire to fasten the better. I also drilled the gun glueing strips out & replaced them with more .032 wire.
