Thanks David, I had not seen the moorings before, so that is cool and I will order them. I tried to start a thread at shipmodels.info but I get a message to wait for them to be approved.

Sig...he shows a set of the 1941 moorings are available.

I'm looking forward to the build.

The bronze image is about the right size, however this is what I want to model only much smaller.

Hi;

You know there must've been a full load of fuel in the remaining tanks.I thought they drained some. But she still weeps.

This looks like it will be awesome! Been there and i know this will do her justice. Are you going to replica the bronze statue or are you going to use acrylic to replica the water? I'd love to see the acrylic version. You could even replicate the "Black Tears" Following this with great interest

If you get Smithsonian, Nat Geo, or American history channels, look for an episode of drain the ocean, they did one on Pearl. Part of it was on our Lady.

using that same model to build 17 OBBs from the Wyoming class to the Colorado class.

If need some of the spare parts I won't be using, let me know.

Also, ddp59, I want to build the USS Idaho BB-42, maybe you could help me with that conversion?

your shipmate,

Ziggy

Ziggy, cut all the railings off the main & upper decks when the decks are in place so not to cause a step between decks & hull. using that same model to build 17 OBBs from the Wyoming class to the Colorado class. http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=165105

I want to build a diorama of the Arizona Memorial. I will use online images and information to build a reasonable model of the hallowed subject.

I found an image of a bronze replica of the memorial and of the Arizona herself. I'll use these as a guide.

The catastrophic explosion the doomed her, lifted the armored deck from the hull and when it came down, a lot of the bow section underneath was gone. This explains the iconic picture of the superstructure bent forward.

From the drawing, the port hull forward of the superstructure is bowed outward. The bow armored deck is sunken down into the hull and the keel must of fractured due to the portion of the bow that does not line up with the stern deck.

I started by assembling the basic model. All that is needed is the port and starboard hulls, the main decks, the second deck, two turrets and one set of guns.

I traced the outline of the inverted hull onto cardboard and had a local copy shop match the drawing to the size.

Ziggy
