HMAS friar tuck
Posted by steve5 on Saturday, March 19, 2022 3:39 PM

back from holidays , onto my next build .

this is going to be a bit different , I was thinking of doing the victory 1737 , but to change the hull shape correctly , would be beyond my abilities . so I decided to do a what if build . from around the same time period roughly , but the way I would like it to be , I hope I don't upset anyone , anyway this is what I have done so far . I sanded all the copper tiles off of the hull and thickened the gun ports ,

Great idea!

One of many errors in the Heller comic pages is the locations of the beams that spread the hull and support the decks. I ended up making my own from square brass tube with a little kink in the middle to produce a little camber in the decks.

If you choose to use the kit parts, I can send you the IMAI instructions if I haven't already.

thanks bill , you sent me the imai instructions a couple of years back , thankyou again .

tried to send you a PM , but it just wouldn't work , my email address is in my bio , if you want it .

when the time comes I will look at your suggestion of the square tubing , I think it will be a while before I get that far though .

one of the tedious jobs on this build are the cannons , 728 pieces  not including rigging , so I decided to get them out of the road early .

Pretty sure those are the "sheets" for the Fore Course and Main Course--the lowest sails on the fore and main masts, respectively.

At least, that's my guess of it.
