Blue Water Navy is the manufacturer. They're now Yankee Model Works:

I have about a dozen of their kits in the box, and have built 3 of them. Great quality.
That Gearing kit is especially nice.

The Burke class is the size of a WWII light cruiser ... the model is Trumpeter, but the kit was USS Burke and I'm making it as the Churchill. I bought the Gearing from Blue Water Navy ... can't remember if that's the maker or distributor.
I appreciate the good words. This is my first group build, so I'm excited to see what you guys are all doing, too. And can anyone tell me what's expected of us as participants?

MBT70 - great looking ships! Who makes the Winston Churchill, and how large is it? My understanding is that the real ship is fairly small, so I have to believe that in 1/700 it's close to invisible.

Theoretically I now have a photobucket account. If I'm clear on how this works, the next thing you see should be a close-up shot of the bow of the frigate I'm building for this group:

The light spots on the side of it are part of the foam insulation that I used for a cradle to hold the hull during assembly - they are not problems with the paint. Alas, what appears to be an iceberg hole just below the water line is in fact a painting problem; apparently the masking tape is stronger than the paint in this case.

BTW, I apologize for the dubious quality of the picture. I'll wait until I have something reasonable to post next time.

Your Gearing, is that the YMW kit? I'm in the market and thinking on that kit. Your build looks really nice.

Here are some in-progress shots of my destroyer projects, the USS Forrest Royal (Gearing Class) in 1/350, the French Maille Breze in 1/400 and the USS Winston Churchill (Arleigh Burke Class) in 1/700.

Jeff Still waiting for my Tamiya "O" class destroyers to be added to the list... Whistling [:-^]
I am assuming you just missed my post, either that or you have an aversion to cheap second class destroyers. But hey, if you're going to let in a corvette???? Clown [:o)]

The finish date is 12/1/05...and although a corvette is neither a frigate or a destroyer, sure, what the heck. If you want to join in...the more the merrier.

Well i'm definatly interested in this one but i have a couple of queries.......
Is there any sort of timeframe in mind for a finish date and would the Revell/Matchbox Flower class corvette in 1/72 qualify for a destroyer build............Question [?]
a long timeframe is critical for me considering the amount of work that needs to be done on the kit like replacing all the sorry looking armaments that in the box

Hey Guys
Not exactly sure what a group build involves (pardon my ignorance!) but I have a 1/700 Revell Tribal that I'm doing as HMAS ARUNTA.Do I qualify?

If it's not too late, I'd like to join you, with a German WWI Destroyer, the V106, in 1/400th scale.

I think the idea is to do something like

I got this to work by putting "left-square-bracket" img "right-square-bracket" and the corresponding version with /img at the end around the URL you gave.

Thanks for the kind words on the badge, guys ... I actually did this one. The ship is USS Forrest Royal, which was my dad's tin can in Korea. I did the art with a felt pen, then scanned it and rendered the rest in Photoshop. Lemmee know any time we need another ... I like the challenge.

Great badge!

I've gotten a little farther along on my model of the (still commissioned!) USS Constitution. Photos available at http://shipmodel0.tripod.com/revell_1196_uss_cons/index.album?i=6

I realize that I've had a roughly 200 year head start, but I'm looking forward to seeing some of the Steel Navy models.

Welcome to the forum shipper!

I know what that's like...the C-in-C (aka the wife) has forced me to build models that I went a little 'Ebay crazy' over. She told me if I was going to spend that much on a kit, that I had to build it and not put it on the shelf... Big Smile [:D]

Hi, guys I`m new to this forum stuff but, I thought you like to know that I`m working on building the United States from the 1/96 USS Constutition. I had to do that cause I kept being out bid for it on e-bay.
