Havent seen it yet, looking forward to it.  I've heard from several people who have seen it that at the end of the movie, nobody leaves for the credits and the entire theater is silent, no talking even on the way out.

Have not seen it, but read the book prior to Chris' passing.  Plan on going.

He did a job that has to be done at times, and had the skill set to do it well.

I agree with DD on the ones tearing it down, they have no idea of what service is like, and that I would gladly take up the colors again if asked.

I can only hope the Moore has space reserved in the same warm room as Fonda, who I will never forgive.

Haven't seem it yet, but from all the comments being made about it in the media, I am definitely gonna see it. I was planning on seeing it anyway, due to it being one of Clint's babies.

I can tell you one thing, though - most (if not all) of the negative comments are coming from people who have never been in combat OR the military. Contrary to popular belief, us military types who have trained for combat KNOW what we're gonna face if we have to go, and we do not want to go to war unless we absolutely have to. All the non-military types who think that we love war, that we just have this over-whelming urge to be in battle, have got it all wrong. I have trained for war, and have been in a combat zone (1st Persian Gulf war), but have never seen combat (thank goodness). But, I would still go if I was needed. I would go to help defend this great nation that we live in, and to keep it great. And all of my fellow Marines, soldiers, sailors, Coast Guardsmen, and airmen, I think, would whole-heartedly agree with me on that.

Rant is over. Hope I didn't get the thread locked for that........

Just saw American Sniper this evening.  Anyone else see it?   What did you think?

PS- Best keep politics/controversy out of this.  Just want to know how you saw it?  Hollywood-ish? Accurate?  Accurate w/ a side of Hollywood?

Not sure it was a movie you can say you thought was fun or "enjoyable".  It left me with the Schindler's List feeling.   One that was certainly good to see (and should be seen, in my opinion) but I wouldn't watch over and over (it was certainly sad and made you feel for a lot of our guys and Allies).  It delivered a message.  It was intense and fairly powerful in parts.

I was impressed with their portrayal of the PTSD he faced when at home.  Though mine isnt combat related I have it from a wreck where I was ejected from a truck.  Combat related has to be the worst in my opinion.  When they show him seeing or hearing things and his mind makes the connection.  Suddenly the feelings come back and its tough to make it leave you mind.  Your head tells you its fine but your emotions are feeling something you know isn't really happening.   For me it's Hospital rooms and the style of truck I was in.  I hate seeing those things. For these guys it can be literally anything they saw, heard or felt.  I am thankful that the impact of what these guys see and feel is being brought into the open finally.  They deserve any help they need or want.

This guys story has a sad ending the way it unfolded.  I wont blow for you though if you dont know!   Nobody left when the credits rolled.  Nobody talked.  People were sniffling.

Eastwood may be a little cooky but damn... can he direct a movie!
