At last count it was around 40, but I don't count or collect badges anymore, I just like to build along with others.

I've finished them all as far as I can remember. There may be one or two that I signed up as TBD that I never got around to but if I commit to one with a determined build I finished them so far.

That's a lot of group builds!

To answer the first question:  Too many.

To answer the second:  Too few.

I don't join group builds anymore, at least, I won't until I finish more of the backlog I've created.

I'm like stik and tiger, usually have a kit on hand, get wound up to join, then get bored with it and it sits.  Did manage to complete two though, in 3-4 others now, and got to try and get back to them.  Too many irons burning to spend much time with them in addition to motivation.

Now I'm gonna hafta play that song in the background while I build, Doog. Already got it stuck in my head!

And, I want to thank you for something that you did for my grandson last year:

I was the guy that stopped you at the vendors tables at the IPMS Nationals in Columbia, SC, last year and introduced my grandson to you. But, stupid me forgot to tell you who I was! I think all I said was that I lived in Charlotte, too, like that would've told you who I was. Duhhhh!! But, anyways, thanks for taking a minute to talk to my grandson. He was visiting us for the summer from Seattle, WA, and has autism, so he's usually very timid around strangers, but he seemed to be at ease while you talked to him. Thanks for doing that. It meant a lot. Yes Cool

Gary, it was a pleasure to meet you and your grandson. :) I hope that he had a great time at the show, and I'm glad that I may have made him feel comfortable. Usually, I imagine that people feel uncomfortable or nervous around me. Tongue Tied

Sorry to hear about that, Wirraway. That combination is something I would love to see, though. Maybe you'll get it completed one of these days.

I didnt finish the "Military Veterans' GB of some years ago. My Series 3 Land Rover and GS trailer still silently mock me from the shelf with just a coat of primer. Likewise the "Who needs Wings" Glider GB. The Zwilling towing a Gigant was a bigger project than I anticipated. It sits at about 75% done. A cardinal sin on my part as I started that GB.

Saw George many times over the years, just a couple of years ago in NJ at a very small venue, and he was still rocking it at around 65 yrs old.The funny thing was that I observed that most of us had to put on our glasses at the start of the show. The old rockers are really getting old.

3 for 5 I think, for me. And not progressing well with #6.

Since the Photobucket fiasco, and Flickr being counter-intuitive if not down right confusing (which I would expect from anything associated with Yahoo), I almost dread the thought of posting anymore.

Very sad.

First, great topic...second, I have 2 GB's under my belt at this time. I have signed up for 6 so I have 4 that I need to complete. I have to echo scottrc...I like to interact with fellow GBer's, see their work and have fun conversations about the topic of the GB. Plus I learn a hand full of tips and techniques in GB's.

Bish - 59 and counting lol. We need to have a celebration GB when you make it to the 100th.

Not a bad idea, lets hope we are al still here in 7 or 8 years. Big Smile

Well Bish let's hope so...maybe when you hit the 75 mark we should do it LOL Big SmileWhistling

I have finsihed every build for a GB that i actually started. I think there have been half a dozen that i put my name down for but never started the kit.

And in case your woundering, there's 59 badges.

I did do a small number of cross overs when i first started, but like Jack, i don't now. And i have made up for that as i often complete more than one entry.

Wow! 59 badges!! Where do you find the time, Bish? That is impressive!

Started one and finished same. If anyone remembers back a few years, it was an oldies '50s car build. I did a '53 Chevy street rod in all flat paints and called it a "Flat Rod". A short time later I started having trouble with PB. I've built many, many kits and taken loads of pics while doing them. I have all the pics saved but can't post any of them. I've sent some of them to friends by e-mail. Would love to be able to post pics on the Forum.

Too many and not enough  Stick out tongue

Since the great Photobucket fiasco I can't really say for sure how many I've finished, but probably somewhere between 1 and 2 dozen. I've probably signed up for at least 3 for every one I've actually finished.

I can say I have a much better record of finishing GBs here than I have on other sites. I prefer the format used for GBs here where everybody posts ito the same thread.

I frequently over estimate how much spare time I have for hobbys, and I have the attention span of a dog (squirrel!), easily becoming distracted by another project or three.

Interestingly I've also discovered that I have a much higher completion rate of kits when I have open display space to fill, so I really need to get to work on another display case.

I've completed 18 and finished most of them on time, I can't remember which few I went past the deadline on. There was one I signed up for but didn't get the chance to start. I'm in one now and signed up for two more. I did a few crossovers, but I try not to now. That being said, I have a crossover for the "Too Little, Too Late" and "Monogram Mafia IV."

I'm a "social" modeler, and with no clubs around me, the GB has been a fun way for me to socialize and it gives me a purpose to complete a build.   For some odd reason, I like to work under a deadline, and most GBs require a finish date.

So far, I have joined in about 8 and completed 7.  I have become a GB junkie as of late by joining four at the same time.  Fortunatly, most GBs allow "cross-overs", so I can be building one model for two GBs.

Not all GBs have badges, but I do like collecting them.

Not sure. I've hosted at least 6. I've participated in many more, but sadly, more as a talker. I tend to get excited, start builds, then get sidetracked and not finish. I think I finished 4-5, which is a small number in relation to how many Gb's I participated in.

I usually get four GB's completed in a year, sometimes five - which is about the max number kits I would build during the course of the year.  I've a varied interest when it comes to models, but mostly is WW2 subjects.   Usually I miss completing one or two.

About the GB's here is they usualy last a full year, though some are staggered to end the following year (depending when they started).  That allows to actually obtain 2 badges with one kit build if the subjects overlap.  In fact, right now you could get three (possibly four?) with one build as there is currently running a Japanese GB, a 1942 anniversary GB, Coral Sea GB, and Midway GB.

It depends though, on the moderators, but usually they do allow crossovers.  Personally I avoid doing mutiple GB's with one model, but that's just how I roll.

regards,

Jack
