Hodakamax

Kinda busy here even though I claim retirement. Even my 1/1 motorcycle speed attempt project seems to be moving at a snail's pace.

My father used to tell me that when he retired he was busy all the time. Now that I am retired I find myself always busy. "I have no idea what I do, but it takes all day to do it".

Your comments and questions are always welcome.

Sounds logical GM, I visited his web site once and the collection he had was impressive. That being said I knew he never actually built most, if any, of his posts. Just curious.

Im going way out on a limb here. He was a model museum promoter, had a stable of modelers.

I think his absense may be because he only really had one fan here, who is no longer active.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Sorry to resurrect an almost "zombie thread" but whete is Model Maniac? He apparently started building his own models, posting them, then disappeared. Has just been lurking or does anybody know how he is doing?

I am starting to miss the Gang and the social aspect of this site. It's not like I don't have models to build, several cool ones stored in the to-build hanger. Kinda busy here even though I claim retirement. Even my 1/1 motorcycle speed attempt project seems to be moving at a snail's pace. Probabably time to start some model something, if nothing else to get back in the social group. One should always have an unfinished modet to worry them. I have been shuffling and opening boxes occassionally which is always a good sign. Just a message to tell all, I'm still kickin'.....Maxie

I'm enjoying this for the same reason; it's a bit of nostalgia and it's good to know that some who don't currently post are still out there looking in on the Forum.

Maybe it's my imagination but I am seeing folks posting whom I have not seen before, or not in a long time. Either way, it is sure good to see, even if it's in my own mind.

Yes indeed, das Feldmarshal also had some great one liners about someone posting a question and him answering as in "yes" or "no" without any further explanation as to the answer leaving the OP in limbo. Confused

Wife died 10 years ago, and it slowed me down.  Girl friend doesn't like sharing me with the plastic.  Lots of old kits to build.  Lots in various states of construction.  A few of my posts didn't seem to draw any reaction, so I quit posting much.  Stop by occasionally to see what is going on.

I may get so drunk, I have to crawl home. But dammit, I'll crawl like a Marine.

I’m ”new” here, but actually kind of a lost sheep making its way back to the flock.

I used to participate in this FSM forum a bit back in...was it 2002 or 2003? Was just an on and off modeler then

Life’s challenges at that time swung me into a whirlwind, and it became work, work and more work.

I’m back and hope to contribute towards this fine community we have here Balloons.  Oh, and of course, get back into this fine hobby of ours!

Not sure how many people here will remember me. It appears this is the first time I've been on in four years. My personal life for lack of a better term was chaotic for the past few years. Between a very sick parent and putting in fifty five or more hours at work my personal life was destroyed. I'll admit that I was in a dark place for a couple years but dug myself out of the hole.

Now things seem to have settled down and I'm trying to get back into the hobby.

Lately I have gotten into cooking recipies that take hours to prepare like Beef  Bourguignon (French beef stew cooked in a bottle of Burgundy wine).

How do you get stew beef into a wine bottle?

I undersand new fangled ways, that's why Sears, K-Mart, desk telephone, beepers Etc are the the trash heap of history, but there has got to be a better way than Facebook. You just can't follow anything on it.

Facebook does have it's recipes, kooks and pet tricks but it does have an audience. Our Hodaka Motorcycle forum slowed down to a point of a few contacts a week. After going to the Facebook equivilent you can have a dozen contacts a day on what you want to solve or talk about. Or you can set there and let the old ways kill your forums while new ways are how it's going to be. Like refusing to use a new-fangled computor, you'll just get left behind. Spell check even, no photo host required. Time to move on or be left behind. Sorry, but this forum probably should become a facebook forum before it dies. I hate the goofies but I just ignore them. Actually, just stay on your page and known pages and you'll do fine. Ah, just another challenge in life!  Max

Never had interests in opening a Facebook account.

I'll go you one more...I'm actively not interested.

I second it GM.

Fermis still makes rare appearances. I think his avatar is now Gollum.

From time to time!

Avatar is me in a T-6.

Had a stupid busy year, this year. Kicked off the beginning of the year having to completely remodel my parents "extra house" (my bro and his family lived there 10 years, and pretty much destroyed it...long story and tons of drama). Then my work season started. When things slowed down, I did a bunch of work around the house....then work picked up again, and the phone kept ringing. I also got back into flying, getting instrument and multi-engine current, as well as flying a few "Wings of Mercy" missions. Currently working towards the single engine commercial add-on...just to open some more doors in the aviation job market. Still doing some sporatic jobs, as well as remodeling my own house.

Haven't had much bench time, but I have finished a few this year. Even less free time for jackin around on the forums.

Good to see you again too Femis, you don't look much like Gollum though... Wink

Figured you were busy with work, I can understand with all that you'd be out for awhile.
