lots of talk about new kits and rehashed old ones going around right now, but of course they are ignoring the masses as usual! So here's my list of what I think I'd like to see somebody work on.

                                   Aircraft

1. 1/48th Ventura/Hudson that will come in for less than forty dollars

2. somebody's got to finally bite the bullet and give us an accurate Spitfire in 1/48th (one company does the fuselage right while others get the wings right!)

3. A B26K in 1/48th! Now this ones easy!

4. Bring back a good quality A6 Intruder in 1/48th that has the wing folds

5. Anybody besides me would like to see another run of T-28's in 1/48th?

6. AT-6 Texans in a high tech form scaled for 1/48th

7. How about doing a good quality A37 in full combat form? (1/48th and 1/32?)

8. Banashee! Anybody wanta build a Korean War version besides me in 1/48th?

9. a good quality OV-10 in 1/48th

10. a good quality Kingfisher that has all the errors fixed

                           Armor (1/35th scale)

1. a correct 155mm howitzer from the Korean and Vietnam eras

2. a better M48a3 than what we have right now

3. a British Valentine tank

4. a good M3 scout car

5. a newly retooled 6 pounder!

6. Ontos; I know they're promising us one

7. M56 Scorpion

8. a new M88

9. somebody needs to come back out with the M107 and M110 series again

10. an accurate M42 with the parts to mount the 20mm Vulcan on it

                              Naval

1. a newly retooled four stacker destroyer in 1/144 or better yet 1/72!

2. an escort carrier

3. battleship Maine in 1/350 or even 1/144th scale

7. a 1/144th scale destroyer escort!!

8. a 1/350th scale cruiser Perth

9. a 1/350 scale Langley

10. some British cruisers (Ajax for one) in 1/350th scale

                                 Automobiles

1. a 1927 Ford roadster in both 1/24th and 1/16th (or better yet 1/12th)

2. a series of Indy roadsters (all the way from the 1920's till now)

8. a new M88

What's wrong with the current M88/A1/A1G kit? It's a pretty nice kit and not very old.

The Valentine kit made by VM/Alan and reboxed by Dragon and Maquette is not a terrible kit.

You definately have got that right!Thumbs Up [tup] An M-3 Scout Car released to today's modeling standards would be great, since the only game in town is the 40 year-old Peerless Max kit reboxed by Zvezda. The kit can be built into a nice representation(which I proved with my build), however it involves a ton of scratch work and modifying of parts(evident in the fact it took about six months to build.Wink [;)])

Rob,

I thought the M88 was out of production? I knew about the Valentine, but always held it in suspect. Guess I'll hunt one up

Huge Sign - Ditto [#ditto], I'd love to see these!  As for #3 I keep hoping that Revell will do something similar to the AC-47 with their Invader.  Maybe next reissue...

Gary,  I agree that a 1/32 A37 Dragonfly loaded with underwing stores would be awesome.

The Valentine/Bishop kits all stem from the same mold regardless of the variant or boxing. Because of this, some of the versions are more accurate than others. I also believe that one company (maybe Dragon) added better tracks.

AFV Club has a strange habit of limited releases. They have several interesting versions of some of their kits that they only release in certain countries. Try finding their German or Taiwanese M41 Walker Bulldog outside of those countries and it is virtually impossible. While the M88 may be OOP, it was the most common of the two versions lingering on the shelves at the local hobby shops (until they released the M88A1G version).

Highly doubt if there will ever be one in either of theose scales,  but I have hopes for one in plastic in 1:350 scale (much more likely).   Oh, and BTW, White Ensign has just released their HMS Montgomery - Lend-Lease four piper, in resin & brass 1:350 scale.

You don't state a scale.   Have you looked at Loose Cannon's Gambier Bay in 1:700 scale

http://home.earthlink.net/~loosecannonproductions/Kit76.html

or their Long Island-class

http://home.earthlink.net/~loosecannonproductions/Kit45.html

or Iron Shipwright's USS Bogue in 1:350 scale

http://ironshipwrights.com/pages/bogue.html

or perhaps their Sangamon

The vernerable 1:72 scale Flower by Matchbox, now released under the Revell label is still good.  Pair it with aftermarket from Great Little Ships and it is stunning.

Once again, check Iron Shipwright!

http://ironshipwrights.com/pages/Langley.html

Wait a minute, I don't want that one,  I want the as lost version.    The ISW kit builds into that too.

Wait a minute, I want 1:700 scale.   Check Loose Cannon

Aah, once again check ISW

They also have a Town (Sheffield), County-class (Norfolk), and Dido-class (Sirius).

Five out of ten that you ask for are available already.  You just have to seek them out

No, the original M88 he mentions is the one OOP. The A2 never came out as a kit, just as a conversion of iffy quality.

been watching for an early M88 for quite awhile, but all you see these days are the later ones. Another kit I'd love to see is the "fitter" version of the Hemmet. We had one at work for about a week, and I must have walked a mile around that thing just looking at all the gadgits and tools they had on it. This would be a detail freaks dream!

I honestly think that the M88's demise was because it was the Nam era version. They released two at the same time, the M88 and the M88A1. The A1 flew off the shelves, it was a modern, current US AFV and Desert Storm and the Balkans made current modern (as opposed to Vietnam era modern) modeling all the rage.

Bad sales on the Nam M88 probably caused it to be discontinued. Likewise, if they were to release an A2 version, the A1 would be put OOP.

What are the differences between the two variants, and how major are they? I would like to do one in the Green MERDC scheme my old Mech Battalion had ours painted in back in the day.

Difference between which two, the M88 and M88A1 or between the M88A1 and M88A2?

The M88 and M88A1 are hardly noticeble, mainly the engine and the addition of an APU called Little Joe.

The M88A2 is a vastly upgraded version with add on armor, new boom and winch designed to handle the 70 ton tanks we use today.

are they still doing the on again / off again new drive train project for the M88 hull? We used to make the gearbox, but then in turn sold it it Twin Disc, and last I heard Twin Disc wants to get out of the transmission business. We had some prototype drive trains that used the same gas turbine the M1 tank uses, but with a much modded transmission. There's also a brand new transmission design in the works that uses a seperate "step down gearbox" between it and the engine in case they install the gas turbine. But without the "stepdown gearbox" you can use a deisel engine (think 12 cylinder Cummins). There also was a completely tank new retriver in the works a few years back, but think Clinton scrapped it altogether. This one is much heavier and has a good bit more power.

I was referring to the 88/88A1 differences. Thank you for the clarification Rob. Where is the A1's APU located?

do you really think they ignore us? what i mean is maybe not enough of us write to the mfg.

retooled and re issued models aside for the moment just for the sake of my point,

suppose say dragon is thinking of a whole new model and maybe they get 500 letters of request 107 of them (better than 20% )  ask for a certain model  and so be it, it is made  then the other 79% ( US) say hey they don't  listen

maybe they do listen but not enough of us write to them  just a thought   my friend

1. a 1927 Ford roadster in both 1/24th and 1/16th (or better yet 1/12th)

Round 2 is supposed to be reissuing the AMT 1925 Ford Model T 4 in 1 kit at the end of the year. It is a nice kit with the option of doing a pickup or car, stock or hotrod. I don't know how much difference there is between a '25 and '27 but considering that it is a Model T I wouldn't expect much difference.

I think they are similar. Most 1927 Ford race cars are really 1926 bodies done in fiberglass. Love to see one in 1/16th scale or even 1/8th
