I think they are similar. Most 1927 Ford race cars are really 1926 bodies done in fiberglass. Love to see one in 1/16th scale or even 1/8th

retooled and re issued models aside for the moment just for the sake of my point,

suppose say dragon is thinking of a whole new model and maybe they get 500 letters of request 107 of them (better than 20% )  ask for a certain model  and so be it, it is made  then the other 79% ( US) say hey they don't  listen

are they still doing the on again / off again new drive train project for the M88 hull? We used to make the gearbox, but then in turn sold it it Twin Disc, and last I heard Twin Disc wants to get out of the transmission business. We had some prototype drive trains that used the same gas turbine the M1 tank uses, but with a much modded transmission. There's also a brand new transmission design in the works that uses a seperate "step down gearbox" between it and the engine in case they install the gas turbine. But without the "stepdown gearbox" you can use a deisel engine (think 12 cylinder Cummins). There also was a completely tank new retriver in the works a few years back, but think Clinton scrapped it altogether. This one is much heavier and has a good bit more power.

Difference between which two, the M88 and M88A1 or between the M88A1 and M88A2?

The M88 and M88A1 are hardly noticeble, mainly the engine and the addition of an APU called Little Joe.

I honestly think that the M88's demise was because it was the Nam era version. They released two at the same time, the M88 and the M88A1. The A1 flew off the shelves, it was a modern, current US AFV and Desert Storm and the Balkans made current modern (as opposed to Vietnam era modern) modeling all the rage.

Bad sales on the Nam M88 probably caused it to be discontinued. Likewise, if they were to release an A2 version, the A1 would be put OOP.

been watching for an early M88 for quite awhile, but all you see these days are the later ones. Another kit I'd love to see is the "fitter" version of the Hemmet. We had one at work for about a week, and I must have walked a mile around that thing just looking at all the gadgits and tools they had on it. This would be a detail freaks dream!

The vernerable 1:72 scale Flower by Matchbox, now released under the Revell label is still good.  Pair it with aftermarket from Great Little Ships and it is stunning.

The Valentine/Bishop kits all stem from the same mold regardless of the variant or boxing. Because of this, some of the versions are more accurate than others. I also believe that one company (maybe Dragon) added better tracks.

AFV Club has a strange habit of limited releases. They have several interesting versions of some of their kits that they only release in certain countries. Try finding their German or Taiwanese M41 Walker Bulldog outside of those countries and it is virtually impossible. While the M88 may be OOP, it was the most common of the two versions lingering on the shelves at the local hobby shops (until they released the M88A1G version).

Huge , I'd love to see these!  As for #3 I keep hoping that Revell will do something similar to the AC-47 with their Invader.  Maybe next reissue...

You definately have got that right! An M-3 Scout Car released to today's modeling standards would be great, since the only game in town is the 40 year-old Peerless Max kit reboxed by Zvezda.
