To tell you the truth I kinda enjoy looking at people's badges. Seeing what they have done. I really hope nobody puts up too big of fit. It would suck to get rid of them or shirk them where you cant read them. Just my 2 cents.
If I could provide a counter-opinion without stepping on people's feelings or sounding like a grump...
And I admit that it's well-known that I don't do or really endorse Group Builds because they take traffic and work away from the main forum genres, but this comment has nothing to do with that aspect of things.
If you've participated in a GB, god for you for completing it and getting your badge. I do know that a lot of guys sign up and then never finish, However, I think I can probably speak for a part of the community here who doesn't know or care about what your badge looks like or means. I'm not saying that in an unpleasant or snarky way; it's just fact. When I see a signature with a ton of badges in it, it just looks messy to me. That's not saying "{bleep} you and your %$#%! badges!", that's just saying that these icons mean nothing to me or other who aren't involved in them.
Similarly, if you have participated in the build, than you know what the badge looks like and probably don't need to "read" it or marvel at its artistry at two to four inches square, right?. I mean, you CAN shrink the badge in your signature, and still have it "saved" somewhere else, like in Photobucket o something, can't you? I dunno. Pardon my ignorance, but I'm trying to be fair in opinion.
In any case, yes, it only takes a second to scroll past it. And I can't exactly explain why, but it IS annoying to constantly see the same booming pile of graphics pop up as you read down the page. I can't explain it. I just know that for some people, it is.
