I went to HL for a circle stencil.  That's all.  I picked this up from the shelf and told myself no.  You know the rest.

Looks like it'll build up to a staggering 2-3 inches tall.

My latest model kit acquisition:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”  - John 3:16-17

A few months ago my dad gave me a Guillows Sopwith Camel balsa wood model that he started but never finished.  He completed one of the wings... about 30 years ago.  I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I want to try to finish it.

In the meantime, I figured I'd learn more about the camel by building the roden camel comic night fighter which the mailman recently delivered.

I ordered paint based on the color recommendation on the box but I've been hard pressed to find a photo (there are some really old photos where it's difficult to tell what colors were used) or other paintings of the depicted paint scheme.  I did find examples of other schemes for the night fighter though.  All of this could be used to my benefit I suppose, as more discriminating viewers will have a harder time proving my choices wrong. Whistling

While searching for different color schemes, I fell into a few youtube black holes about this plane.  The engine was pretty interesting.  Sounded very interesting and had an effect on handling.

Anyway,  I'm looking forward to the build.

Thanks for the heads up. Like the Hummel, i have been planning on getting one of the Dragon Elefant kits, but have been moving away from them lately. Might have to look into the tamiya.

I know what you mean about the price, i tend to buy the 2 figure sets as it works out a bit cheaper and i can always find a use for a good figure.

Bish, the Elefant is a really nice looking kit. It’s also going to be a simple since there’s no turret. I imagine the majority of time will be dedicated to the zimmerit. I’m considering the zimmerit sheet made by Tamiya for it. As I’ve never been good at zimmerit. I agree Leclerc isn’t something you see often.  Looks like it’s going to be a fun build. Oddly enough it comes with die-cast road wheels, so it will have some weight to it once finished.

I really like Alpine figures just not the price!

Purchased a couple Tamiya kit’s I’ve been wanting last week.  For being a MBT the LECLERC is tiny compared to a Challenger or Leopard.

Also picked up this Alpine panzer commander for the next King Tiger I’ll build.

John, can you imagine if somone actually totaled up whats been spent on this thread so far.

My guess is over 10 grand. My stuff alone is over $1000, and 95% of them were on sale!

Over the 2 years of this thread, i bet mine isn't far off that.

I think it’s best we just don’t think about it! Lol!

And even better that the others halves don't see it Big Smile

I had planned on getting the Dragon Hummel for years. But i have been going off their kits and with this new Tamiya one coming with figures which fit the dio idea i have always had in mind since getting the CH kit, it was a no brainer.

This is an expensive thread!  Cool kit bish, if I dabble back into armor I will go for those open gun platforms.   Really like them and the figure possibilities.

Thanks,

John

Haven't added anything new to the stash for a while. I have been after a Hummel for a few years to go with the Cyber Hobby Munitions carrier, and opted for the new Tamiya kit.

I just received the new Broncos 1/35 M19 A1 40mm gmc.  It's very nice and complex.  I have built the Duster from Bronco so it will be a nice companion to it.  I also bought a Tamiya 1/35 Pzfpkw 2ausf C, to replace one I did build several years ago, but was boxed up, with 4 other kits  and then lost.  I hope to find them.  It has been 5 years and I have looked everywhere for them.  My wife and others had to move my built models to make room for a new bed for a medical emergency I had.  They did a great job, except for those 5 kits.  I've rebuilt 2 of them.  I'll probably find them all when I've redone them all.  But one is out of production right now.  Oh well, c'est  la vie.   (By the way, I'm better now.)

Gamera: I’ve looked at the Meng set a few times and it doesn’t do much for me. Two of the figures in the set have the (Schutzweste Infanterie) or Infantry Protective Vest, which is standard issue for troops stationed in hostile areas. If I want to be 100% accurate I couldn’t use those figures in something such as a Leopard since the issue of the vest to my knowledge.

Cool stuff guys!

German Armour: Nice haul there! Those Alpine figures are amazing, the detail on them is incredible.

Grey Snake: Nice sets of figures there! I picked up this set of modern German tankers. I like yours better, the Meng has two figures in winter uniform and two in summer. So you can only use two figures out of the set in any tank... Bang Head

Found these Miniart Bundeswehr figures.  Think these are some of the best plastic figures I’ve seen. A couple of them will be added to my Tamiya Leopard 2A6 once I get around to building it.

Found this ICM Ural 4320 with East German Infantry for cheap. Really only got it for the NVA infantry. I think apart from these figures there have only been a couple metal figures made years ago. The truck looks alright. It was an early effort from ICM so it’s a little rough in places.

Mopar Madness

Postman left this at my door today.  This will make for a nice winter project.

Nice, i built the Z-1 a few years back. Its a good size but not as big as you would think. Wingspan was about the same as a B-17.

Edit: Tok this at the time as someone had asked about the size and i had not long built a B-17.
