Looks great, especially for a first effort. I really like the water.

A nice job, Brian--a very inventive and creative dio, on a theme that I haven't seen before.

Agreed, about the figures--they look adequate enough for the scene, but some repositioning of the poses would help your realism a bit (the first "running man" is going to run right into the first guy in the boat there and send them both overboard!). Still, the dio as a whole is very nicely done, and a work to be proud of!

Thank you all very much for your kind words and enthusiastic response. I will get planning on the next dio.

WOW, Brian! Great work on this. Nice action, and the water looks excellent. Yeah, if this is your first dio, hats off. You got real talent, and there will be no stopping you.

First one??? Wow... Well done, if that's the case.. Love the water, and the shore-line looks real enough as well, along with the bullet-splashes... Nice touch.  Water's a tough medium to model and you did it first time out.. Also, using the wire from the mortar cans is an excellent use of available materials... Learning how to "see miniature" in everyday objects is something that wil serve you over and over again... Not to mention that it'll save you some coin..Wink [;)] Outstanding..

Few tips for the next one.  Don't place the objects in the dio parallel or perpendicular to the base edges.  A slight angle, even 10 degrees or so, will give you a much better "snapshot" effect.  Also, placing the boat at an angle to shore would help too...  Moving on... Don't be afraid to start "Frankensteining" your figures.  Using them straight outta the box is ok, but will limit your story possibilities... You'll want, as you gain experience, to make the figures fit your story, rather than make a story to fit the figures...

Bottom line is keep 'em coming.  Keep that first one forever and use it to look back at as you grow as a diorama-builder... You're off to a good start...

I moved all of the photos to photobucket and they should be working now.

Recently Completed diomara.

The water is created using a technique from Kenny Loup "Gator" on modelshipwrights.com. The water is sculpted latex caulk and the bulllet strikes are paintbrush bristles coated with clear silicone caulk.

The barbwire fence is wire that I collected from 81MM mortar ammo crates. It is the wire that seals the can.

Visit http://www.ecpmod.com/ for a tutorial on how to create the water.
