Show your Revell/Monogram builds

Just finished an old Monogram classic, the Bf 110E in 1/72.  I scratch-built the cockpit given that the kit only included a couple of figures and a seat.

I have just finished a 1/72 B-36 (my profile picture) and am currently working on a monogram 1/72 B-1B. why everyone dislikes the Revelogram kits is beyond me, 95% of al mine are from Revelogram!

 

I saw this kit in Route62's stash today. My gosh, in 1/72 scale, this airplane is enormous. Way above my pay-grade.

I saw this kit for the first time today. I had never seen one before. One-seventy second scale? Oh yeah! This airplane is enormous. Above my pay-grade.

I guess the dislike stems from the age of the kits. They don't have all the "bells and whistles" of more modern kits that we see from Tamiya, etc. 

of course, this thread proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that they can be built up to museum quality; they just take a bit more effort, perhaps, and offer up many opportunities to scratch build details not provided in the original kits.

What OD did you use on the P-40?

I used Tamiya XF-62 with a black and white speckled base.

Just went through these added builds and all I can say is "WOW!!!" . Off the charts work.

Those both look great Brandon! Excellent work!

What OD did you use on the P-40? It looks just about perfect for factory new Olive Drab 41.

I totally forgot to post this one here along with its stable mate. The first one is an old P-40 that got a full kit overhaul. Resin pit and exhaust as well as scratch built radiators and and air intakes at the nose as well as full construction of wheel bays. The kit is fully rescribed and has a vacuform canopy. The nav lights are stollen from a Hase -E kit and worked perfect. The tail wheel is scratch built as well. Many many hours in this one.

This one was just completed. It is a 60's era OS2U Kingfisher. It has a full overhaul as well. LSM cockpit and main float and a Vector engine. The cowl was removed and flaps opened and the resin engine shoehorned in. This one was a battle all the way. It looks decent in the photos but trust me that it has plently of flaws.

I have a Revell 1/32 scale HE-111 P1 that my son and I just started. He just got this for a birthday present, going to be huge. Will attempt to keep an up-to-date WIP on this project.

 

This is my "Flying Leathernecks" F6F-5 Hellcat. The markings don't represent any particular Marine unit, just a generic Hellcat. The model was built straight out of the box, nothing aftermarket was added. The color is overall MM Dark Sea Blue, which is kinda green, I guess. The number 65 on the fuselage is the year I graduated from high school. It had the full ordinance load provided with the kit. The wings do not fold. The gaps at the wing fold were so large that I filled them with PPP to hide the gaps. Not my favorite build but overall OK. Comments welcome.

This is Revell's 1/48 UH-34D built it to represent a machine from HMM-361. If you're interested in seeing more pictures, I've posted a few in the Helicopter Forum.

Here's the 1/48 Monogram Do335 night fighter I just finished.

My Monogram builds so far. First is Monogram's SBD kit here depicted as an Air Corps A-24 Banshee.

Next, Monogram's 1/72 scale F-82E, here depicted as a P-82B of the 506th FG, Iwo Jima, 1945, if indeed the P-82 did excort B-29s over the Empire as it was designed to do.

That's a beautiful black finish on your mosquito. Hard to do in my book. Did you hafta polish it or did it come out of the airbrush that way ?

This is the old 1966 1/48 Mosquito.  Could be done as a bomber, fighter/bomber or night fighter.  Chose the night fighter version for the RAF GB.

That's a whole lot of great work. Working with that foil is not easy. Well done sir.

This is my Mono-revell 1/48 B-29. The finish is Bare Metal Foil.

Thanks Stick. Nope, it is an A4E/F of the Monogram 1st edition of the kit. At about the same time Fujimi had issued the TA4F, but it scaled out to 1/50th. I had to shim out the forward fuselage to 1/48th scale and "marry" it to the Monogram fuselage, but could not make the canopy wider so I had to pose it in the open position. Like you, I am partial to Revell and Monogram models. You cannot beat the prices and the quality is as good as any other. I have finally figured out how to post pictures, with the help of my IT professional son-in-law. Thanks again.

The nose and canopy are from the 1/50th scale Fujimi TA4F. The rest is Monogram. This was done before the other TA4 kits were available.
