Show your Revell/Monogram builds

Just to keep things going, here's an old Revell 1/72 F-4B (with inboard pylons from the newer Monogram F-4J).

by the way 41 of the 56 unbuilt kits i have in my stash are monogram or revell/monogram! i love the old stuff so shoot me (your still not getting my unbuilts though!

My wife has requested the Monogram P-40B (1985 re-release of the 1964 kit) as my next build. Got it started tonight (03 February 2012), and already have the cockpit painted and installed, and the fuselage glued together. I've forgotten just how much simpler these old kits are compared to the Tamiya and Hasegawa kits that I'm used to building (not a complaint, just an observation). My wife wanted it because she "liked the pretty shark mouth on it". I wonder if the enemy pilots felt that way when they saw it coming at them, or the enemy ground troops, for that matter.....

All Monogram, neat:

F-82 twinstang. I am proud of this one. The decals for the SAC version were re-released about a month after I finished this- blue paint, decal white stripes and individual stars, in 1/72.

and these, all painted from little square bottles ONLY, by hand.

Hercmach I humbly thank you sir. That complement coming from you is huge. Gamera was kind enough to supply the decals and I had a lot of encouragement from the guys in the build group.

Love those flaps on the P-38. They really add to the build!

I've got to get in on Stik's thread.

I haven't anything really new here to show. However, some years back I got this Revell 1/48 scale P-51B Mustang at the end of a Distressed Kit Auction at our club meeting. This thing was a shambles, so messed up  by the original builder that nobody would bid on it for four auctions. Therefore I was told to take it or let it be thrown out.  I took it.

I took it home and wondered what I would do with this thing as it wasn't my scale. Then as I checked it out, In realized that despite all the damage; it was still buildable. A better term was "able to be resurrected"

So I did:

I used an aftermarket canopy and decals to complete this as both were missing from the kit; but everything else came in the box. That includes the well-painted pilot that was done by the original builder.

This is the only 1/48 scale aircraft I've kept in my collection. All other I've built were done as gifts or commission builds.

Now to go through my collection of built models and find all the Revell/Monogram models and see about getting more shots done to post.  This may take awhile.......

The 1:48 F4U-4 doesn't get much love around here, but I've always liked it (with the exception of the molded-shut canopy).

This one has adorned a shelf on the desk in our den for many years.  It recently experienced a major dusting mishap which knocked off the left wing along with some other small bits.  That explains the chunk missing from the leading edge at the wing fold and the replacement brass cannon barrels that I haven't gotten around to painting yet.

Proving that Revellogram isn't as bad as some people are saying...

I just re-read Stikpusher`s original post and it says show your Revell/ Monogram builds...didn`t say, one way or the other, anything about re-boxings of other company`s kits. The way I see it, Stik should make the call since it`s his baby, and that`ll be that.....

 

That's correct. And a few posts into it early on, somebody posted a RoG kit. In the spirit of a family with adopted kids I said include 'em all. As long as it was bought and built under a Revell/Monogram boxing. I know that Revell Germany quite commonly releases other companies original moldings under their label. But then again once the Pro Modeler line was issued in the 90s with ex Hasegawa and Tri Star/Dragon kits, R/M was doing the same thing, but not on such a large scale.

The whole original point of my starting this thread was to showcase original R/M kits from early thru today ( I wanna see a Ventura!) to disprove with photographic evidence that R/M kits are not the "junk" that some forum members here quickly say when asked about a kit subject type.. We FSM R/M fan folks have shown with scores of finished builds here that that is simply not true. This was not meant as a defecate/urinate on any particular model companies thread, but as a celebration of a particular and often slandered product line.

Ninetails, your RoG builds are more than welcome here, but a belligerent or confrontational attitude is not. A simple second post stating that the A-20 was a RoG re boxing of the AMT kit would have sufficed, since your original post made no mention of it being R/M or RoG, only that you thought it was the ex AMT mold. As far as I am concerned AMT is another under appreciated company that has made some nice kits, but it does not get the same bad mouthing here that R/M does.

Here is my Monogram OS2U Kingfisher for your edification.  Built essentially out of the box except for some belts on the seat and some tweaks to the instrument panel by punching a sheet of styrene out to match up with the instruments on the decal sheet.

I built a few of those Havoc kit`s..always out of an AMT box though...never had the RoG boxing to compare. I wish these #$%&!@ companies would keep their molds to themselves...

I agree, or at least admit from the first time by saying, hey we just copied this thing!
Although, it is a lot of fun to buy great kits and not paying way to much money for quality!

But then you get uselles discussion like these, anyway, Isn't there SOMEBODY who figures out that it's about time they post their new completed kit?!
I think we kinda scared them off, thinking we will block them from the forum if they post non-original-revellogram
 stuff

But enough of that, it had a Revell logo on it, so it counts for me, and I guess that's all what matters...
A pitty that this whole thing had to explode into everybody's face like that...

Anyway, that was my havoc, lol...

EDIT: I have just checked the box, there are 119 parts in that kit, while on that review,
there are only 103 parts int that AMT kit.
